Yeah, the show is still ongoing. They basically run from January to January. The current season is Wonderful (and yeah, the dog becomes a girl who becomes a magical girl). The title of the 2025 season has been announced to be “You and Idol”, plus there’s going to be a sequel to Maho Girl (the witch themed one) as well.
Even if it's not your vibe or you were not familiar with the genre, I really like how you approached this! I'm leaving here other fun facts about the franchize: it's been airing since 2004, and it's the second most profitable Toei Animation series, the first one being One Piece, of course. I'm a student in Japanese language and culture and one of our professors said the series it's so popular it makes almost 70% of share among its target audience (girls between 4 to 10 yo): basically 7 out of 10 little girls in Japan watch Precure, which I think it's insane!
For you question about whether they're all in the same universe it's... complicated See, it doesn't really make sense for them to be because there's contradictions when you take all of them into account, but at the same time there's the All Stars movies where they do crossovers of every single season together. You could argue they're simply non-canon, but then some movie exclusive characters then go on to show up in the actual show, which canonizes the movie and if a single All Stars is canon then they all are, not to mention the trend they had for a while of having the main character of the next season show up in the last episode of the currently airing one, or the time they had a mid-season All Stars in actual episodes where the characters all know eachother except the ones who weren't there for previous crossovers So the answer is "yes, they're all in the same universe when Toei deems convenient, but don't think too hard about it"

Precure is a lot like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai, in that every year there's a new one with a new writer, director, sometimes producer and a new gimmick and everything. And most series are completely stand-alone from one another. Only being an anime instead of a tokusatsu show like the two I mentioned they can go wild with different artstyles and direction every season. Some Precure seasons are darker (though not too dark, still a children's anime), others are as lighthearted a they come, some are more action-oriented than others, some have stronger serialization/plotlines while others are more episodic, it sort of everything goes when a series has been on air for this long. Unfortunately in the past few years there's been more misses than hits for me. The last season I really liked without many reservations was Hugtto Precure and that's 6 years ago already. Also in the opening the generic monsters tend to be featureless blobs because Precure uses a monster of the week formula, every episode has a unique monster created by the villains (unless a villain is throwing hands themselves) that usually doesn't last longer than that episode, so the opening have a generic dark thing for them to fight. My favorite is Go! Princess Precure. Got some of the best animation and fights in the franchise and I really like the characters and overall vibe of the show.
They made crossover movies where all the girls in all the seasons worked together to fight an even bigger bad, but eventually they had too many girls. I'm not sure what they do now. I think there are 80+ precures

@@ladypool1404 Idol culture in japan is a little bit different than just music and dance. I think the seasonal idea sounds pretty good but they probably won't because then it sorta limits the number of characters they can add to the team. And it'd be hard to fit that into a setting unless you wanna do something like zootopia and make a place that's sectioned off into different climates.
@untitled-gv3qp what i would do for the sessions curés is that the fairy's kingdom is separate in 4 area: one for winter, one for summer, one for falls, one for spring. There's another area where a princess and a prince have à magic Ball to observé everyone. Both sends their Best friend on earth to find the cures. The vilain can be a monter Who controls poison and wants to kill humans.
@@ladypool1404 Yeah but it'd still be one season for long stretches of time in the non magical world where the cures would be spending more time. It'd feel uneven because you'd either be focused on just one of them for the duration of the seasonal period that they represent, or they'd be having winter themed plotlines when it's summer in the real world or spring plotlines when it's fall. It'd be seasonal whiplash to have them constantly switching from one extreme to the other. The climate outside of the show also matters alot when you have a show that runs throughout the year like precure does. It's like if they tried to make a precure season themed around Christmas. The show runs all year long so apart from when it's actually Christmas in the real world the show wouldn't feel right, yknow. For the Hirogaru Sky openings, you are right. The purple haired girl is the baby in the opening. Also the orange haired person is actually a boy. One of the first main boy Precure’s in fact.
Most Precure seasons are completely standalone with no inter-season continuity. The exceptions are Max Heart and GoGo, both of which are direct sequels to the previous season, with the same heroines but new villains. Also, for a long time they put out a multi-series crossover movie every spring, and in recent years (starting around Hugtto) they've started to throw in cameo appearances of characters from previous seasons into the shows themselves. Don't even try to think about how that works in terms of lore, timeline, or especially character ages. Just repeat to yourself "it's a show for little kids". As you've noticed, Precure changes its look and feel every year with a new character designer (along with a new series director and new main writer). However, sometimes they bring back a character designer from a few years back. Precure 5, Smile, and Hugtto all have the same character designer as each other, Toshie Kawamura. Suite, Doki Doki, and Star Twinkle all have Akira Takahashi as character designer. Finally, Princess and Tropical Rouge both have Yukiko Nakatani as character designer. The vast majority of Precure heroines are in the second year of middle school, age 13~14. It's the same age as the girls were in the first season of Sailor Moon; in fact it's kind of the "default character age" for the whole genre of fighting magical girls. If they look older or younger it's mostly just different art styles. However, there are some series with one or two girls who are older than the rest of the team (e.g. the purple one in Heartcatch and the red and purple ones in A La Mode, who are 17-year-old high schoolers) or younger (e.g. the yellow one in Suite, who's only 9) Precure is still ongoing! Wonderful Precure is currently airing; when it ends in February, the next season will begin, titled "You and Idol Precure".
There will also be a sequel to the mahou tsukai precure (witchy precure) starting on January 2025! it's called Mahou Tsukai Precure Mirai Days and is after a time skip so they are older now.
42:45 Precure does tend to be more punchy that other magical girl anime, as it was created to be more fight (physical-combat to be specific) oriented, this is also because most special attacks are finisher attacks (some seasons have less flashy magical attacks that can also be used in combat, however they tend to also still pack a punch - both the magical attack and the girls). Remember these are generalisations, because I'm not going to talk about every single divergence.
6:42 splash star is a spin-off of the first series, so they do look kinda like the ones of the previous intro, but its a different story on various aspects
Precure is a show that never stops; it airs at the same time every single week, pausing only for holidays, disasters (Covid-related production disruptions, a big ransomware attack at the studio, etc.), and the Tokyo Marathon. And every year in early February the show reinvents itself into a completely new show: new characters, new setting, new conflicts, new everything. Wonderful Precure is currently airing, and a new show You and Idol Precure is poised to take its place in a couple months. There are no continuity links between the series. They do sometimes do a crossover movie, called Precure Allstars, but don’t waste your time trying to figure out how the different series fit together, because they don’t and the production staff don’t think about that either.
Heartcatch, Smile, and Hirogaru Sky are my favorites of the ones I've seen. And all three of them are so tonally different you wouldn't even know they were the same franchise. One's a very sentai-ish action series, one's a borderline parody of itself, and one is a very wholesome and mellow show about a group of friends hanging out at grandma's house with a baby and a talking bird. Every year is interesting just to see what they do to make this years' series stand out from the other 20.
All the cures that get added in the openings are called mid season since they appear well in the middle of the season and the "little guys" are called the fairy's that give each character the transformation Stuff to transform making my own series myself called zodiac precure starry world and last the first girl on the screen is called the lead cure
Precure has a similar seasonal way like power Rangers with a different team each season with little or no continuation unless it's part of the all stars or crossover movies. The team is made up of Cure Whip(the pink bunny one), Cure Custard(the yellow squirrel), Cure Gelato(the blue lion), Cure Macaron(the purple cat), Cure Chocolat(the red dog, she's my all-time favorite cure), and Cure Parifat(the pegasus one, technically a green cure) Hugtto Precure is all about the future. The team consists of Cure Yell(the pink one), Cure Ange!(the blue one), Cure Etoile(the yellow one), Cure Armour(the purple one), and Cure MaCherie(the red one) Star Twinkle Precure has some scenes in space. The team is made up of Cure Star(the pink one), Cure Milky(the teal one, technically a green cure), Cure Soliel(the orange one), Cure Selene(the purple one), and Cure Cosmo(the blue one) Healing Good Precure had the least character development because of COVID-19. The team consists of Cure Summer(the one with rainbow hair), Cure Coral(the purple one), Cure Papaya(the yellow one), Cure Flamango(the red one), and Cure La Mer(the blue one, she's a mermaid). Delicious Party Precure felt unnecessary because we have a food-themed precure. The team is made up of Cure Precious(the pink one), Cure Spicy(the blue one, she should've been orange), Cure Yum-Yum(the yellow one), and Cure Finale(the one with blonde hair) Hirogaru Sky Precure has the first male lead cure. The team is made up of Cure Sky (the blue one), Cure Prism(the one with pink hair and a white dress), Cure Wing(the orange one, he's from the same world as Sky), Cure Butterfly(the pink one and the first adult cure) and Cure Majesty(the purple one, she's the youngest cure) Wonderful Precure is my least favorite because there are no attacks and the team leader is so annoying, she acts like a 2-year-old. The team is made up of Cure Wonderful(the pink one, and my least favorite cure), Cure Friendy(the purple one), Cure Nyammy(the one with white hair), and Cure Lilian(the teal one) the next season is You and Idol Precure, we don't anything about the designs yet.
I’ve gotta give you a lot of praise for being to fit that all in one comment. Seriously in one massive comment, you explained the different cures in the 21 seasons so far with a very brief mention of the 22nd.
As a Precure fan, there's a LOT of movies to the franchise as of right now there's 21 seasons with the 21st season Wonderful Precure currently airing soon to be finished and an upcoming 22nd season called Kimi to Idol Precure (You and Idol Precure in English. Also both Futari wa and Yes! Precure 5 are the only two Precure seasons to have sequels (Futari wa & Futari wa Max Heart, Yes! Precure 5 & Yes! Precure 5 Go Go), and there's only two OFFICIAL male cures in which are from two of the anniverary seasons. Wakamiya Henri/Cure Infini from the 15th anniversary HUGtto! Precure & Yuunagi Tsubasa from the recent 20th anniversary Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure.
I like that cures teams have differents themes; Dance and fruit for Fresh, Fairytales for Smile, Music for Suite, Desserts for Kira kira, Magic and witches for Mahou-tsukai, Cards with Doki doki, Fashion with Hapyness charge etc. I hope we'll get a ballet team or one based on the four seasons 🙂 I create an OC precure team 3 years ago. The leader was Cure Claw, a purple dragon. Her friends are Cure Wish, a silver angel and Cure Nature, a green elf. The trio is Fantasy precure; based on fantasy creatures. I can't draw them, i'm really bad at drawing!
Funny enough Precure is more well-known for their endings instead of their openings. Lol I would recommend the All stars movie for thr fight scenes because they are awesome! Also some openings were missing like Happiness Charge has 3 in total and I know there's the movie openings but Idk if you want to count those.
The little guys are actually the ones that give them the power to be a magical girl that's why they are in every single intro Also fun fact: Cure sky was the very first non pink leader!
This was very fun to watch! It brought me out of a bad mood, actually. I've only seen a few seasons of this in full yet (Kira Kira a la Mode, Star Twinkle and Hirogaru Sky) and getting through others (the og, Hugtto, Tropical Rouge, Mahou Tsukai/Maho Girls, Delicious Party, Wonderful) currently. There is a lot of hand-to-hand combat in the fights usually, but it's also full of good story about friendship and beng a good person. "Girls can feel cool and pretty" was the original idea when it was created, I believe. Hirogaru Sky or Star Twinkle are probably my most favorite right now!
Hi, person who put that playlist together here! The playlist was incomplete because Happiness Charge op 1 was deleted and when I made it, Tropical Rouge op 2 and Delicious Party Precure op 2 were missing, sorry for the inconvenience😅 I’m glad you reacted though, I love to see people finding out about Precure! To answer a few questions: Precure has been going since 2004 and doesn’t show signs of stopping soon, the next season You and Idol Precure was just announced actually! The Max Heart and Gogo are the only sequel seasons, and otherwise all the seasons take place separate from each other except for the crossover movies when the writers treat it as if they take place all around the same time in the same Japan. The little guys are usually called “fairies” and are from whichever magical world exists in each season- they’re usually the reason characters get their magic powers. Precure is a largely physical fighting magical girl show where most attacks are used to purify the villains, with some exceptions. My personal favorites are Smile Precure and Go! Princess Precure, but I think there’s something to like about each season.
For the question as to weather they take place in the same universe. The answer to that is they kind of do, but they don't really put much of any effort into keeping things consistent between them continuity wise.
All Precure generations aren't made the same ... some are kinda godawful and are best avoided, while others are hype AF ... they tackle some similar themes most of the time, and can be formulaic, but each generation has a "gimmick" to spice things up

It's the same age as the girls were in the first season of Sailor Moon; in fact it's kind of the "default character age" for the whole genre of fighting magical girls. If they look older or younger it's mostly just different art styles. However, there are some series with one or two girls who are older than the rest of the team (e.g. the purple one in Heartcatch and the red and purple ones in A La Mode, who are 17-year-old high schoolers) or younger (e.g. the yellow one in Suite, who's only 9)
Precure is still ongoing!
Natsuumi Manatsu/Cure summer, the main cure in Tropical rouge precure shares a VA with Jocelyn in JoJo(Fairouz Ai)
Precure is just magical girls Jojo's.
Many different seasons but you can watch any of them since they have different characters and such
All the cures that get added in the openings are called mid season since they appear well in the middle of the season and the "little guys" are called the fairy's that give each character the transformation Stuff to transform making my own series myself called zodiac precure starry world and last the first girl on the screen is called the lead cure
And for some reason the make some younger cures transformations make them look like a adult speaking of transformation you should do that next
The pretty cure transformations are legendary. They made a few english dubs of pretty cure, as well as an american redub called "glitter force".
This is an interesting vid, I'm both a jojo fan and precure fan XD
The series that somehow end up being anime that made 2000s boys became a real man 😂
If your willing to react to more, I’d suggest a video of a few fight scenes! They can be really fun to watch
All of them are actually in order❤
Precure has a similar seasonal way like power Rangers with a different team each season with little or no continuation unless it's part of the all stars or crossover movies. Found a Playlist of the endings if you are interested (some are great songs, the cgi isn't that bad)
ua-cam.com/play/PLyZx6X4Vrp-NLG9cS7ltcXx_iOkKyxb5H.html&si=XlpsgD3vZgKwA_VE
The first season is just called Pretty Cure. The team is made up of Cure White and Cure Black.
Max Heart is the next season. Still made up of the previous duo but with the addition of Shiny Luminous(she's classified as a yellow cure)
In Splash Star, we get a new duo: Cure Bloom(the pink one) and Cure Egret
Yes! 5 Precure is the first season with 5 cures and set up the standard for future teams. The team consists of Cure Dream(the pink one), Cure Rouge(the red one), Cure Lemonade(the yellow one), Cure Mint(the green one) and Cure Aqua(the blue one)
Yes!5 Gogo precure has the same team with the addition of Milky Rose
Fresh Precure consists of Cure Peach(the pink one), Cure Berry(the blue one), Cure Pine(the yellow one) and Cure Passion(the red one)
Heartcatch Precure is so good. The team is made up of Cure Blossom(the pink one), Cure Marine(the blue one), Cure Sunshine(the yellow one), and Cure Moonlight(the purple one)
Suite precure has a music theme. The team consists of Cure Melody(the pink one), Cure Rythme(the one in white), Cure Beat(the blue one) and Cure Muse(the yellow one)
Smile Precure was made after a natural disaster to make kids smile. The team is made up of Cure Happy(the pink one), Cure Sunny(the orange one), Cure Peace(the yellow one), Cure March(the last real green cure), and Cure Beauty(the blue one)
Doki Doki Precure is made up of Cure Heart(the pink one), Cure Diamond(the blue one), Cure Rosetta (the yellow one), Cure Sword(the purple one), and Cure Ace(the red one)
Happiness Charge Precue is the only season with international cures(they're rarely seen). The team is made up of Cure Lovely(the pink one), Cure Princess(the blue one), Cure Honey(the yellow one) and Cure Fortune(the purple one)
Go! Princess Precure is considered one of the best seasons. The team consists of Cure Flora(the pink one), Cure Mermaid(the blue one), Cure Twinkle(the yellow one), and Cure Scarlet(the red one)
Mahou Tsukai has one of the best openings in precure. The team is made up of Cure Magical(the purple one), Cure Miracle(the pink one), and Cure Felice(the one with pink hair, she technically is a green cure)
Kira Kira Precure a la mode is my favorite season. What's not love, It's all about sweets? The team is made up of Cure Whip(the pink bunny one), Cure Custard(the yellow squirrel), Cure Gelato(the blue lion), Cure Macaron(the purple cat), Cure Chocolat(the red dog, she's my all-time favorite cure), and Cure Parifat(the pegasus one, technically a green cure)
Hugtto Precure is all about the future. The team consists of Cure Yell(the pink one), Cure Ange!(the blue one), Cure Etoile(the yellow one), Cure Armour(the purple one), and Cure MaCherie(the red one)
Star Twinkle Precure has some scenes in space. The team is made up of Cure Star(the pink one), Cure Milky(the teal one, technically a green cure), Cure Soliel(the orange one), Cure Selene(the purple one), and Cure Cosmo(the blue one)
Healing Good Precure had the least character development because of COVID-19. The team is made up of Cure Grace(the pink one), Cure Fontaine(the blue one), Cure Sparkle(the yellow one), and Cure Earth(the purple one).
Tropical Rouge is perfect for the summer.
The team is made up of Cure Precious(the pink one), Cure Spicy(the blue one, she should've been orange), Cure Yum-Yum(the yellow one), and Cure Finale(the one with blonde hair)
Hirogaru Sky Precure has the first male lead cure. The team is made up of Cure Sky (the blue one), Cure Prism(the one with pink hair and a white dress), Cure Wing(the orange one, he's from the same world as Sky), Cure Butterfly(the pink one and the first adult cure) and Cure Majesty(the purple one, she's the youngest cure)
Wonderful Precure is my least favorite because there are no attacks and the team leader is so annoying, she acts like a 2-year-old. The team is made up of Cure Wonderful(the pink one, and my least favorite cure), Cure Friendy(the purple one), Cure Nyammy(the one with white hair), and Cure Lilian(the teal one)
the next season is You and Idol Precure, we don't anything about the designs yet.
I hope we'll get a ballet team or one based on the four seasons 🙂
I create an OC precure team 3 years ago. The leader was Cure Claw, a purple dragon. Her friends are Cure Wish, a silver angel and Cure Nature, a green elf. The trio is Fantasy precure; based on fantasy creatures. I can't draw them, i'm really bad at drawing!
If you would like you can react to the pretty cure endings as well! Great video btw I'm happy that u enjoyed listening to the openings
Funny enough Precure is more well-known for their endings instead of their openings. Lol I would recommend the All stars movie for thr fight scenes because they are awesome! Also some openings were missing like Happiness Charge has 3 in total and I know there's the movie openings but Idk if you want to count those.
Finally my two interests being together
The little guys are actually the ones that give them the power to be a magical girl that's why they are in every single intro
Also fun fact: Cure sky was the very first non pink leader!
-How many spoilers you want in happiness charge precure opening?
-Yes
27:16 if u ever look at precure endings, youll see the all star endings theyre great(precure fans often love the ed more than the op)
You should react to the precure endings!
@@Kimberlylippingtonpurpleheart don’t worry, the endings are on my list
6:44 Different girls but they were designed similarly in order to not alienate the main audience. Basically think the first 3 season of MMPR
My favorite part is Go! Princess.
Honorable mentions go to Hirogaru Sky, Kira Kira and (of course) Heartcatch
Please do precure all transformations please ❤
Nice reaction 😊 , can U reaction Ed pretty cure 😅, btw pretty cure And dragon ball same studio
wow a precure video!
All Precure generations aren't made the same ... some are kinda godawful and are best avoided, while others are hype AF ... they tackle some similar themes most of the time, and can be formulaic, but each generation has a "gimmick" to spice things up
same studio toei animation they can use ref
Go Princess is my favorite
Smile Precure's storyline is almost the same as that of Stardust Crusaders!
Please React to it!
Otona precure gone somewhere...
Please react precure transformations!
do gundam next🤣
cus there is gonna be a new series in the gundam, and the designs is made by someone who worked in pokemon
I love all anime, including this artistically
I love futari, fresh, princess, and maho. I'm trying to get into heart catch
@@k.Miles789 that’s quite a broad suggestion, I have done some Gundam reactions already.
@@RealAdamtheBeast kay. How about something is not anime, but is Japanese media, like power ranger, Kamen rider.
