Great video, when I was younger and worked at a machine shop, the circle track guys would bring in there axles and have the 4 1/2" bolt pattern holes welded shut. Then the machinist would turn the flange back flush, mark and drill the 5 on 5 pattern.. just another way to achieve the results I guess. Thanks for your channel!
Good stuff Puddin’! Things hardly go together without a hitch...combining different elements from multiple manufacturers requires being flexible enough to rethink and redesign. Thanks for the video sir
It's the details that make the build! Great motivation. I always appreciate your last quote when signing off. Appreciate you and the time it takes to edit and film.
Your filler pieces are a very good idea . Filling the gap creates high heat buildup an loss of integrity of the materials being welded . This project is awesome.
I have been watching past videos to catch up on your work. I like how you do things right, not just good enough. And your welds look better than most of the builders I see on here. Great work buddy!!!!
Looks great, keep up the great work. I like the fact you are using a vehicle that is not the "norm". I couldn't find a good IH in my area for my project. Went with a bump side ford with a 32v 4.6 and a Crown Vic front cradle conversion. I have completed over 35 modifications on it so far. Starting the dreaded body work now! Looking forward to the next video...
Thank you for sharing. I wish I was in the States. I am down in South Africa and struggling to get parts for my 2001 Izusu truck. You inspire me to get off my butt and get her done. :-) All the best and good luck.
I really like how you think about out everything ahead of time and walk through it all with US. Too many guys will just weld shit on (in classic fcuk the next guy fashion) without ever thinking about accessibility or remove/replace situations. Cheers!
Awesome work guy. Love that fixture and welding table. You look so much better today sober than you did here. Plus, your much funnier sober. Congratulations on being sober🙏🙏👍👍🙏🙏. Sept 21 will be 30 years for me.
If your air hose quick coupler has a flat tipped fitting ( looking inside ) , you can give it a turn or two . It may fix that annoying constant leak.👍🏻
I needed to see this for motivation to finish my disc brake project lol I just need to run the lines and it’ll be sick. 1967 Dodge a100 Van with crown Vic rotors and calipers and a custom bracket
Out of curiousity, Why didn't you just drill out the axles for the 6 lug pattern and press studs in? Maybe ad the spacer you need? Or use the 99-06 GM differential with 6 lug and factory disc brakes? Maybe that setup was too wide.
The GM was too wide, it had a open diff, and the gears weren’t what I wanted. If it was limited slip and had the gears I wanted I would of ran it. The studs I found that would be the same metric thread and long enough for all of that to fit on weren’t press in. The axle had to be drilled and tapped and the studs threaded in. That don’t mean press in ones don’t exist somewhere that were long enough. But after seeing those I decided just use what I have. I could weld up the axles, drill to 6 lug, put new studs and buy a new spacer but in the end it would accomplish the same thing. I didn’t really see a benefit I guess.
@@PuddinsFabShop Do you have the Edna rebuild series on one source? I am having issues finding some of the videos on UA-cam. The Edna rebuild from start to finish on one disk or thumb drive would be a great how to resource for a beginner like me.
Nice! Instead of rebuilding the bracket, could you have drilled a hole in it to allow the stud to pass through in case you ever had to replace it? And maybe weld on a small triangular gusset on the back to the axle tube to replace any lost strength.
I've always wondered how people keep the caliper in place to make a custom bracket. great idea using air. Is it something I can buy or did you make it?
I like how you fabricate everything you need, lots of work, great looking SUV, has anyone suggested the 2003 Durango rear axle? 355 gear, six lug and disc brakes factory and there are a bunch in the junk yards
My brother was priming a card on a 68 mustang and I was pumping the pedal like hell .. he was pouring out of an old cup .. it back fired snd and caught on fire as I’m still pumping like hell … he slung the large cup it hit the outhouse and we had both on fire .. my dad said we were the dumbest kids he had lol

I like a challenge! The brakes work amazing too

Thanks for watching! A lot of time goes into a video so I appreciate the kind words!
I love the details on the brakes and the pacer looks so aggressive not too low or high just perfect
Loved the build, don't like spacers. Good job facing this challenge. Thanks for sharing the experience Puddin🙏😁👍
Thanks for watching!
Its is one of the best builds out there ! Its a credit to you !!!
Thanks John!
Trying to finish my project. !Watching yours is way more relaxing .
I just bought a 68 Travelall. I really appreciate this type of video because it's a lot of information!
Thanks again!!
Great job on the travelall build. Lovin it

watching old videos again to help the shop !!!! Hot Damn Here We Go Again !!!!!!

Man, you really came up with quite a set up. It really opened up ideas for me.
nothin's ever easy, good to see the progress
It’s part of it!
You'll be stopping now that's a nice set-up. I'm glad you figured it out

It’s your honesty that I appreciate.
Good job, glad to see it coming together
It’s coming along!
Thanks for this video and shot of tacked on bracket helped me visualize
Looking good! Really like your tool to compress the caliper and hold it in place. I’ve never seen that.
It makes it easy!
@@PuddinsFabShop Agreed. That was genius. Beats measure 37 times and still welding it in the wrong spot. lol
Keeps it from moving too!

Be on the road soon. You're doing an awesome job!!!
Thanks! I hope so I’m ready to cruise it.
lot of work! Looks good. Keep em coming. Hope you remembered to put the axle seal it!!
The axle seals are out until after I weld it up to keep from melting them. Lol
Great Quality job.Keep them coming.GBY!
One camera angle it looked like the hot rod body was a luggage carrier on top of the travelal.
You have skills! Great job

Very nice work
👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
A lot of work went into that conversion
Great job. I learned something today👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Phenomenal job!
those gaps i always fill them up with a triple weld i think is stronger .
There ya go lol
Just curious. What are you doing for emergency breaks
I’m not installing any. There is a GM caliper for some Cadillacs that are they same as these and have EBrake lever built in if someone wanted.
*brakes.
I had a '99 Sierra 2wd. It had 6 lug rear rotors and a mini drum built in for e brakes.
I've always wondered how people keep the caliper in place to make a custom bracket. great idea using air. Is it something I can buy or did you make it?
hey puddenpapa, on that bracket blocking the bolt couldn't you cut a hole in it, to replace the bolt?
Good info.
Hope it helps!
Maybe I missed it but what are you doing for an e-brake?
Don’t have one!
Like the intro

How has this spacer set up held up for you?
So far no problems with all the towing I’ve done etc

Not sure honestly

good work

Why didn't you use the rear out of the donor truck?
Too wide. And didn’t have the gears I wanted.

Will do!

To the best of my knowledge they are not 6x5.5 lug pattern.
Time to put disc breaks on the rear of my old truck :)
Do it!
are the wheel center to center in the front and back the same? Or, is the front wider?
The front is wider.
How about the hand brake?
Cipherin’ lotta cipherin’.
Helping with the comment.
When I watch your videos it makes me feel like all my shit is juts hobbled together lol
What did I miss? Where is the parking brake?
There ain’t one lol
thanks. the devil is in the details.
