Fake Luxury Shoe Store Prank proves Luxury is just Perception - Payless

  • Payless, a low-cost shoe retailer, opened a fake luxury shoe store called "Palessi" and filled it with the brand's inexpensive footwear. Consumers paid up to $600 for shoes that retail for $20-$40. Does this experiment prove that designer brands are just perceived as being luxurious rather than actually being luxurious?

Marketing wins! The gullible loses. I love designer clothes but my goodness the crazy things people do to own them. No thanks. I get most of mine used or new but secondhand. It’s not worth the price they charge. At least if I make the stupid decision to buy designer items full price I do it fully informed that luxury is a waste, luxury is not an investment, and luxury doesn’t automatically equate quality or status. It’s still insanity when I do make such a purchase and I know partly it has to do with my insecurity as a child and other unresolved issues. It’s annoying to be so self aware about my own feelings insanity but at least I don’t make stupid proclamations about clothes being of value. These mindless sheep. CRINGE.

If you died TODAY, where would you be spending eternity? Have all your sins been forgiven or are you still hoping that you're a good enough person to earn a spot in heaven.
The reality is that no one can earn a spot, our sin disqualifies us. But the God news is that Jesus paid for our qualification by dying on our behalf taking the punishment that we deserved.
JESUS said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son; that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
Nothing is more important than your eternal destination. Please, don't say, "When I get older I'll get right with God' or 'I'll get serious with Jesus one day when I'm ready.'
Don't wait any longer, today is the day of salvation. Get right with God today, for tomorrow very well might be too late.
We invite you to REPENT and accept that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life by praying this simple prayer out loud right now...
'Heavenly Father, I turn away from my old life and repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus came for me, that Jesus died for me and that Jesus rose again for me so that I can be forgiven and receive eternal life. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, receive the gift of eternal life. I ask you to fill me with the Holy Spirit and lead me for the rest of my life. In Jesus name - Amen.

Because of of those brands are overpriced … Real ´high quality’ luxury brands are unknown to most people and only worn by rich people, not middle class, and they don’t go around advertising it all over their body like people do with Channel and LV bags.
Real luxury is discreet, brand is hidden and most of time clothes are tailored to fit the person wearing them …like Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg, or Elon Musk , you wouldn’t see them in any of those brands unless they’re paid to wear them 😂, they wouldn’t do it for free.

There was multiple occasions when I bought cheap shoes thinking "I can't believe they're that good for such a low price", and only a week or so into wearing those I came to realize why are they so cheap. It's not so easy to tell how something would wear and age in the long run by just trying it on for a few minutes. So I understand why this Palessi thing worked. It just wouldn't work for too long.

I like this experiment, it proves that for the most part your only paying for the label, so for those who can’t afford designer gear, you’re not missing out of much, and you shouldn’t care about a brand name unless you can afford it. Caring for the brand and labels it's not a new thing in the world. People that buy by those standards are not wearing what they want, they're dressing for the others around them to see and like.
I've noticed this since I was in high-school ages ago , that's when the average person's "fashion shows " begin. And also my friends that really had money were the ones that dressed more simple (quality fabrics and shoes) but very low profiled.
When you dress to only impress instead of just what you like either is cheaper or more expensive (which is obviously more likely to last longer and better design) you're just a slave to others opinions and judgments instead of being comfortable being yourself.
I believe that there's absolutely nothing wrong with buying expensive items(it's just a choice that concerns to each person obviously as it's good to have nice and better things too😊)

What this proves is that those so-called celebrities who have risen have absolutely no understanding of high quality and are just parroting each other. There is a world of difference between budget and high quality, the fact that many do not see this is an understatement.

Finn Brake they where not experts that’s why they made claims. I’m sure if the whole clip was played you would see the Payless marketing team feeding them with buzzwords to say.

Actually, what this tells me is that store concept and presentation is important. Payless should redesign their stores with a more upscale look. Better yet, they should have a store design contest and the winners each get to design a set of stores. If anyone from Payless reads this comment, you need me on your marketing team!

      🎉🎉

The problem with increasing the price is that the sales volume falls off rapidly. Look around…how often do you see $100k cars vs. $25k ones? It’s not 1/4 as often, it’s far less.

I wouldn't be surprised if they crunched the numbers and estimated there's a very decent chance they'll make *more* from this amazing stunt of advertising from uptick in sales franchise wide than they would've if they just left one or even a few dozen richy fake stores up and running with the facade.
