Fake Luxury Shoe Store Prank proves Luxury is just Perception - Payless
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 бер 2019
- Payless, a low-cost shoe retailer, opened a fake luxury shoe store called "Palessi" and filled it with the brand's inexpensive footwear. Consumers paid up to $600 for shoes that retail for $20-$40. Does this experiment prove that designer brands are just perceived as being luxurious rather than actually being luxurious?

Idiots. That´s how I define everyone who spend money with them. They are not paying for quality, they just want to show off how rich they are.
This doesn’t prove Payless shoes are good. It just proves luxury shoppers are idiots. Which we already knew 😂
Marketing wins! The gullible loses. I love designer clothes but my goodness the crazy things people do to own them. No thanks. I get most of mine used or new but secondhand. It’s not worth the price they charge. At least if I make the stupid decision to buy designer items full price I do it fully informed that luxury is a waste, luxury is not an investment, and luxury doesn’t automatically equate quality or status. It’s still insanity when I do make such a purchase and I know partly it has to do with my insecurity as a child and other unresolved issues. It’s annoying to be so self aware about my own feelings insanity but at least I don’t make stupid proclamations about clothes being of value. These mindless sheep. CRINGE.

Yup, normally you can tell quality by type of construction, materials used, stitching, and last. The fact is most of those shoppers wouldn’t be able to tell you jack all about quality.
Not "luxury shoppers", WANNABES ! People who are actually rich can spot crap when they see it.

@theexpresidents That's one hell of a lie! He did NOT commit suicide after this prank you lying tool!
@aaronfield7899 It's a lie. He did not commit suicide. I heard it before and there's ZERO articles about this supposed suicide. You seriously think this didn't make any news if it were true? There would've been massive backlash followed by a massive lawsuit against Payless
He probably didn’t even go inside yet. This is such bait and you’re falling for it. He likely just meant going to a newly opening shop
I'd like to think that a lot of Luxury brands started like this. Gucci, Versace, Loui Vuitton prob told their prices as a joke, and when they realized people where actually willing to pay that much they just rolled with it.
And since price tags were hand written a slip of the hand turned $5.00 into $500 and viola! lol
someone probably added one extra zero in the price by mistake and it worked lol
Because of of those brands are overpriced … Real ´high quality’ luxury brands are unknown to most people and only worn by rich people, not middle class, and they don’t go around advertising it all over their body like people do with Channel and LV bags.
Real luxury is discreet, brand is hidden and most of time clothes are tailored to fit the person wearing them …like Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg, or Elon Musk , you wouldn’t see them in any of those brands unless they’re paid to wear them 😂, they wouldn’t do it for free.

Bro, giving them the shoes for free afterwards is such a pro marketing move. They'll remember the experience and whenever they go shopping again they'll think "Why would I want to pay $400 for these? Is there a Payless nearby?"

It's just pure snobbery. Most of the clothing we wear is made en masse in sweatshops all around the world, just because it has a designer name on it doesn't make it designer or exclusive.
There was multiple occasions when I bought cheap shoes thinking "I can't believe they're that good for such a low price", and only a week or so into wearing those I came to realize why are they so cheap. It's not so easy to tell how something would wear and age in the long run by just trying it on for a few minutes. So I understand why this Palessi thing worked. It just wouldn't work for too long.
The contrary applies too though you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars for a high quality durable shoe
I used to work for Harvey Nichols and saw the returns. The expensive shit falls apart and has cheap finishes which are not durable just the same as the high street brands. There are very few brands I’ve seen which are made well. Gucci, Belstaff and LV are trash. Filson and Chloe were amazing quality back then, I don’t know now because I’m out of touch
Tho with fancy shoes you only wear them once or twice a year if even more than once, so it would still work with the right customer field 😂
I Spent a reasonable amount of money on shoes that actually were durable and improved my quality of life as I wore them daily for a year at least. They weren't the most expensive but they were quality I could afford. I wish they were still made but they decided to upgrade them which made them less comfortable and less durable for more money. The price is not always the marker of the best quality .

Caring for the brand and labels it's not a new thing in the world. People that buy by those standards are not wearing what they want, they're dressing for the others around them to see and like.
I've noticed this since I was in high-school ages ago , that's when the average person's "fashion shows " begin. And also my friends that really had money were the ones that dressed more simple (quality fabrics and shoes) but very low profiled.
When you dress to only impress instead of just what you like either is cheaper or more expensive (which is obviously more likely to last longer and better design) you're just a slave to others opinions and judgments instead of being comfortable being yourself.
I believe that there's absolutely nothing wrong with buying expensive items(it's just a choice that concerns to each person obviously as it's good to have nice and better things too😊)
