I just listened to the 11 hour Densmore audio book narrated and sung by himself I think. Used it to put myself to sleep ( I've read it before). Lasted an hour. Was still going when I woke up. Going to start again tonight. I've read all bandmates and Sugarman's books. Seen Stone's movie many times. Even watched David Cosby slag Jim off in the doco Remember my Name. There's also a couple of great docos on UA-cam. I think there's also quite a long audio interview. It's all there. Jim wasn't that hard to understand. But you can't say he wasn't unique and had a great voice and mystique. Ever seen him convulse on stage like he's possessed or heard him scream like he's exorcising everyone's demons for them? He's a legend. Death possibly helped. But so young? That's tragic. Some women will fuck you up. Fame can fuck you up. You can fuck yourself up. Whatever. What other white boy blues man literate Rock'n'roll poet had the balls to dance like a native American Indian on stage? Legend. Maybe that spirit did enter him. I've only ever seen one other white man dance like an American Indian. And he was a Kiwi. And a good friend. He's dead too at 27. Maybe there's a message in there too. Peace Chimps
@@amitcohen3034Really? How different? They couldn't control Jim. Jim couldn't give a fuck. They loved each other. They hated each other. They loved the money. Didn't need to. Even now in this Ray is taking a paternalistic view toward Jim. Bad move. Jim couldn't stand authority figures. Especially paternal ones. Ray should have known better. Ray called me on 7/03 (Jim's exit) to represent he enjoyed my script honoring, The Doors! "...Finished your script. Very interesting, very unusual, very very clever, I like it a lot." To hear his messages and to learn more about my experimental script and series check out my (Doors To Symbolicy - Love Death Travel) and my current series and script (Newborn Awakening) for more information and progression!
I love this ! Ray was so eloquent and entertaining. I’m so sorry he passed away . Yes , he was definitely a positive guy . I’ve heard Robbie and John interviewed, they are not quite so upbeat. Robbie tends to be a bit vague and inarticulate and John comes across as a bit resentful!
Was 10 years old when Light my Fire charted. That song woke me up about sex. Bic lighter later had a tagline in a commercial, it was a guy with a cigarette in his mouth and said to his girlfriend/wife "Ursula ,Light my Fire". In high school,we always used that line when we needed a light for our cigarettes.
Stewart Copeland was the original drummer of Ray Manzarek's reboot of The Doors called The Doors of the Twentyfirst Century (shortened to D21C). The original lineup of that band in 2002 was Ian Astbury on lead vocals, Robby Krieger on guitar, Ray Manzarek on keyboards, Stewart Copeland on drums and Angelo Barberra on bass.
ray manzeric, may you rest in peace. your salesmanship coming out of you with every spoken word deeply puts me off from listening to its entirety, and im less than 20 minutes in.... goodbye

There wouldn't have been a " The Doors " without you, Ray. Happy birthday! And thanks!
I would encourage everyone to read Ray's book.... Light My Fire....My Life With The Doors.
It was beyond excellent.
*was.?
Makes you wish you were part of it. Thanks for the masterful storytelling Ray.
You are part of it, we all are every time we spin a Doors track. 📚🇬🇧☘️

This was really good. Never heard of it before. Ray is so positive and good natured. What an unusual life he had. Thanks.
Wow...! This is pure gold dude...!! Thanks 🔥🚪🔥
Glad you like it!
@@Francazio Love it...!! 🎹
Ray’s impeccable memory is wild. What a guy and good friend he was.
Ray was a great spokesperson, story teller of the DOORS
Although everyone of them have told a complete different story.

Keep posting man. This is awesome 💯. I heard clips of this audio but not the whole thing.
I plan too, don't worry. Lot's more to come.
It's a bummer we don't have audio of his book Light My Fire
That book is a real good read@@vondeserthiker4251
Muchas gracias!
Tuve el cd en los 90's pero lo perdí...
Todo un tesoro.
Absolutely fantastic! Thank you very much for sharing. The Doors are open
This was an odyssey to listen to. It's hard to imagine Ray being stationed in the same county I reside in back in '62.
Great documentary indeed very inspiring and insightful
thank you Ray this is really Cool pretty neat
Ray to prawdziwy Polak dlatego tak do mnie te klawisze trafiały Doors fan 4 ever!
He was a Pole with soul!
I would have loved to have Ray as my philosophy professor at university.
Enjoyed Ray telling his and the Doors history.
beautiful really enjoyed that
Thanks for share it. Always wanted to listen this!
Ray was brilliant and an incredibly talented musician. He was vital to The Doors.

You're welcome
What a great listen,,,
Ray also played on a Weird Al' song called Craigslist. A funny parody sound of Door's song's. It's brilliant. Worth a listen.
Ships With Sails is one of the greatest hidden gems in the Doors catalogue.
RIP Ray & Jim 💕 ⛅️ Every time I walk around UCLA campus I think of you guys
Are the lecture halls still the same ones they would have gone in? I've wondered this before
So excited to hear this
Loved this!❤
Ray Manzarek would have been a great voice over for documentaries. Peter Coyote style.

That guy can sure tell a story with so much energy and passion. Stewart Copeland is the only other artist that has the same persona when talking shop.

Ray is the best story teller out of the three.
@@eileensianez6766 no Robbie is
Feisty guy Ray in the years before he died but a shrinking violet during his Doors career..
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🦎👑
Was Jim's father the commander of a battleship in gulf of Tonkin?
Yes he was!
Mk ultra.
His ship may actually have been fired upon as he reported, but not by Viet Cong, probably CIA. He was just another pawn in the game.
Is there a reason why he never says Bill Siddons name?
Why wasn't there an investigation regarding Jim's death? They could have exhumed the body to find the real cause of death.
Probably because it was obvious. Alcoholism and likely an overdose from mixing with Pam's heroin.
It's interesting that Ray almost always refers to Jim by his first and last name and not just Jim.
His wife too. It's always "Dorothy Fugikawa." 😆 It's great.
