Jim Ladd was the greatest late night DJ in LA the mighty met KMET
Sure was! Can't wait for a movie on his life!
I heard The Doors for the first time when I was about 5, in 1965. My parents had The Doors first album and when it was played my sisters and I danced around the coffee table. Also around 4th grade I was out in our front yard playing ball with our dog and the ball flew into the next door neighbors front yard and as I went to get it I remember hearing "Light My Fire." playing in some weird van these hippies were partying in and I was like "Wow!" These teenagers are cool!" Ha!!
Amazing that The Doors really were totally rediscovered by the masses around 1979/80. American Prayer started it all and then No One Gets Out of Here Alive fueled the fire. Really amazing resurrection when you think about it.
This is an incredible piece of work! Thanks so much for uploading it. Long live The Doors! 🚪
Absolutely Awesome!
Awesome
I remember listening to this in the early 80’s on 97.7 CHOM FM
I’m five minutes in. I know this will be good. Los Angeles, a lot going on.👍
It will be interesting to see how this four part series by the Late Jim Ladd differs from the six part insider series that you just ran on your channel.
I remember hearing this on a Detroit FM station over 4 consecutive Sundays when it came out (‘79) and it was incredible. The last part of it when he reads Cemetary Poem was haunting.
I got introduced to their music in 1981. I dug it then and still dig it today...
