      Not sure how that helps? They have to attend the Torian Pro in Brisbane. The physical act of entering the actual Australian mainland is the requirement of quarantine. I don't believe that loophole would exist.

    I understand that there are rules etc. However I believe since you are the Four Time reigning Champion you should be awarded an automatic invite to the GAMES! Personally this is a crazy request by Crossfit for foreign competitors to compete. Makes me wonder if their are alternative motives to doing this. In my opinion they should have announced this much further in advanced giving the world situation with traveling etc.

      What fairness reason? I’m not being sarcastic. Why do you think that this is fair or even smart during a global pandemic?

      @ctioburrell 3 роки тому

      @@914Rocky fairness from the perspective of they had to draw a line in the sand somewhere to prevent athletes from country hopping for there own benefit. So it applies to all athletes. With quarantine protocols and the vaccine although it may be inconvenient it is manageable.

    • @914Rocky
      @914Rocky 3 роки тому +1

      @@ctioburrell It makes zero sense. Why would it matter “where” the top athletes from Australia completed the final round of the competition? This is one of those rare sports that can be performed anywhere, literally. No line in the sand was needed. The athletes should have been permitted to complete the finals anywhere. If Castro wanted to continue his arbitrary qualification by country of citizenship nonsense, there is no reason why the athletes had to physically compete in their native country. Please explain why this needed to be done? Why does it matter where anyone competes? What advantage will Tia have qualifying as an Australian in the US? Of course, she’ll be disadvantaged having to pay a gazillion dollars to get back home, and then to go through a lengthy quarantine where it will be much harder to train. This is just another example of either or both Dave Castro’s incompetence or bias against athletes who don’t kneel before the king. Castro is a cancer on the sport. For the life of me, I don’t understand why--having failed so miserably at growing the sport year after year-that he’s still employed. I thought that this new owner was a smart and savvy businessman. Apparently not.

    • @ctioburrell
      @ctioburrell 3 роки тому

      @@914Rocky yes the sport can be done anywhere in the world but the quality of competition is concentrated in a couple of places. By letting Tia compete in the US that presumably takes a spot away from a very deserving American competitor while opening a spot for perhaps a less talented Australian athlete. The same thing plays out in Europe Asia etc. Covid, although serious, is being manged and less of a factor.

    • @914Rocky
      @914Rocky 3 роки тому

      @@ctioburrell You are missing the point. She can compete in the US for one of the Australian spots. So no US athlete’s spot would be taken. But, of course, if she can’t make it to Australia, then the greatest female CrossFit athlete ever will lose her spot. The truth is that only the top athletes regardless of citizenship should qualify for the Games. This isn’t the Olympics, which is also unfair to athletes from the US and other large countries who don’t qualify for the US but who would qualify in any other country. But the Olympics are a tradition that goes back 100+ years. This is just the latest example of Dave Castro’s incompetence. I’m sure Tia missing the Games would be great for CrossFit ratings. Why would anyone want to see the greatest female CrossFit athlete compete in the world championship? And I’m sure her absence would really help grow the popularity of the competition. Can you imagine the Olympics risking that a Michael Phelps or Simone Biles couldn’t compete? Preposterous.

      Most likely the Australian government who most likely would use the money to pay outsourced vendors and pocket the significant difference

      But paying for what? Sitting on your home? Isn't that where we all quarantine? I'm missing something here..

      @@lifes_a_journey Australia’s quarantine is no joke. I heard James Newbury talking about it. I’m assuming the absurd charge is mainly to deter people from trying to do it but they do require an insane amount of COVID tests during that quarantine period. Plus I’m sure they would have someone making sure they didn’t leave as well as bringing food and supplies.

      @@lifes_a_journey instead of doing quarantine at one of the designated quarantine hotels in Australia for $5000, you can pay $250,000 to quarantine in your own home instead 😖 Absolute madness!

    I believe it's $2,500 (each), not $250,000... That's a big difference. But still expensive.

    No need to apologize Tia, the rules were sprung on you elite athletes with not much thought about the logistics of a world not functioning normally. Crossfit Inc needs to get it right. It will only lose more fans and followers as what truly matters is the Crossfit ideology and that is always and will always be free.

    Is there a reason you didn't come straight to Australia from Korea? I had assumed that was what you would do.
    And for the non-Australian's - yes our rules for travellers will seem excessive but, other than a few small clusters, there has been no community transmission in a long time and life has been back to normal in my area for a number of months now. We want to keep it that way.
