I understand that there are rules etc. However I believe since you are the Four Time reigning Champion you should be awarded an automatic invite to the GAMES! Personally this is a crazy request by Crossfit for foreign competitors to compete. Makes me wonder if their are alternative motives to doing this. In my opinion they should have announced this much further in advanced giving the world situation with traveling etc.

Try Bellevue! There are some wonderful townhomes in Bellevue. You are near The Warner Parks which are great for training. I compete as an Olympic Weightlifter and love that you will be in the area.
If North America was granted 20 Games spots, how would it be fair if someone from Australia took one of them? Would it be fair if Tia went down to Brazil and took one of their two spots? Remember, this is only a problem for this year. Olympian's are also allowed to live and train anywhere they want, but have to travel to qualify for their county.
Yeah doesn’t make much sense that during covid they decide to tell people where they have to travel to compete. Particularly for Aus where our covid restrictions are so strict. Good luck !!
If you think canned biscuits are good, try making them from scratch. It’s very easy, and so much tastier! If you want the easiest version, find a recipe for drop biscuits- they don’t have to be rolled out and cut, you drop spoonfuls onto the sheet like you would with cookie dough.

I know you (or maybe it was Craig Richey) mentioned that they were doing that this year, but I really hadn't considered how big of a set back that would be for many people, even with only thinking of having to quarantine for 2 weeks and not considering how that would impact your training.. The same thing is currently happening with my husband who has lived in the U.S. since October 2019. He has wanted to visit his family and can't. The other issue, other than getting into AUS, is getting out of AUS. You would need an exemption to be able to leave.

@@914Rocky fairness from the perspective of they had to draw a line in the sand somewhere to prevent athletes from country hopping for there own benefit. So it applies to all athletes. With quarantine protocols and the vaccine although it may be inconvenient it is manageable.

This is one of those rare sports that can be performed anywhere, literally. No line in the sand was needed. The athletes should have been permitted to complete the finals anywhere. Please explain why this needed to be done? Why does it matter where anyone competes? What advantage will Tia have qualifying as an Australian in the US? Of course, she’ll be disadvantaged having to pay a gazillion dollars to get back home, and then to go through a lengthy quarantine where it will be much harder to train. This is just another example of either or both Dave Castro’s incompetence or bias against athletes who don’t kneel before the king. Castro is a cancer on the sport. CF would have thought about that after its first games. Keep in mind that the competition should be equal for all --- everyone (including the champ) going through the same stages. By skipping the open, the champ is fresher for the Games because it's less wear and tear on the body. That wouldn't be fair.

They get automatic invites back. In other sports, sponsors get to hand out exemptions to athletes so they don't have to qualify. It's a common practice.
@@DonGately Golf has done it for decades. Why even have the champions in football, basketball and baseball play in the playoffs. Allow them to play automatically in the Super Bowl, NBA Finals and World Series.

No. Everyone should follow the same process. I wouldn’t care who won, allowing someone to get a pass like you suggest would cause more problems in all divisions, which would also be impacted by a rule change like they do in golf and tennis.
This is actually smart of HQ to get a jump on things. If you have to compete at a semi in your birth country, but stay in the US to do the open and quarterfinals, then have to try and do the travel that Tia talked about prior to the semifinal event, THEN risk being positive...if they do it now, it’s more likely all the athletes will be able to attend the semifinals once they come around. WHATS MADNESS IS THAT AUSTRALIA IS TRYING TO CHARGE PEOPLE $250k TO QUARANTINE AT HOME!!!

I’m assuming the absurd charge is mainly to deter people from trying to do it but they do require an insane amount of COVID tests during that quarantine period. Is there a reason you didn't come straight to Australia from Korea? I had assumed that was what you would do. And for the non-Australian's - yes our rules for travellers will seem excessive but, other than a few small clusters, there has been no community transmission in a long time and life has been back to normal in my area for a number of months now. We want to keep it that way.
I don't know if it was announced - the birthplace rule etc- before they got back to the US but as an Australian no way im going to the states for a loooongg time. Its far too scary a thought

Trail running in Percy Warner park would be great training for you. Red trail is a personal favorite. I’m Brentwood born and raised.

@@lifes_a_journey Australia’s quarantine is no joke. I heard James Newbury talking about it. I’m assuming the absurd charge is mainly to deter people from trying to do it but they do require an insane amount of COVID tests during that quarantine period. Plus I’m sure they would have someone making sure they didn’t leave as well as bringing food and supplies.

I believe it's $2,500 (each), not $250,000... That's a big difference. But still expensive.
No need to apologize Tia, the rules were sprung on you elite athletes with not much thought about the logistics of a world not functioning normally. Crossfit Inc needs to get it right. It will only lose more fans and followers as what truly matters is the Crossfit ideology and that is always and will always be free.
Is there a reason you didn't come straight to Australia from Korea? I had assumed that was what you would do.
And for the non-Australian's - yes our rules for travellers will seem excessive but, other than a few small clusters, there has been no community transmission in a long time and life has been back to normal in my area for a number of months now. We want to keep it that way.
I don't know if it was announced - the birthplace rule etc- before they got back to the US but as an Australian no way im going to the states for a loooongg time. Its far too scary a thought
