    These are great but just find them a bit bulky, especially when fitting in a ceiling with pir insulation. Haven’t used the collingwood ones but click flow ones

    For those of us unsure, do you need to press those levers down holding each conductor? It looks like once the cable is in it should be pressed down

      No, you press them down when you want to remove the conductor.

    Not sure you would need to be up a ladder to fit plug to downlighter. Do any on table before hand and then plug them in.

    Worst connectors ever made, if you place 2 twin and earth, one ends up not biting. And comes out, causing the lights to flicker.
    The t connector case doesn’t even close properly, feels cheap and flimsy material. Without doubt the worst type of connector I’ve ever used, would even use screws rather than this garbage

    Hi I am trying to get my head round a problem.
    I have an led bar light that I am using on an aquarium it's rated at 860 watts????.
    I am also using an ad to dc transformer that is rated at 1.2 kW on the output side.
    When I attach my watt plug to this unit it only shows me 80 watts approx on the meter, on the mains side.
    Am I correct in thinking that the unit at 860 watts is incorrect or is there some difference between wattage at 12 volts wattage and wattage at 240 v.
    I hope you can understand my meaning here does the wattage decrease at 240 volts.
    The reason is I want to add another 860w unit but if they are in fact 860w it will overload my transformer.
    Although it would take a hell of an led light to actually give 864w.
    Regards Martin steele

    This shows us how to add more than one light (e.g. downlights) in the same room controlled by 1 switch but can you also use the 2 plate method to control the lights in another room controlled by its own switch? How do you get the power to the second switch or do you simply need to run another cable from the consumer unit?

    This may be a stupid question. If you were rewiring a lighting circuit in a house using the two plate method, the aim being to cut down on wires to the light at the ceiling, do you have to use junction boxes, or have three cables into/out of each switch plate? Or is there another cunning method? Thanks

      @stupidlogic2987 Рік тому

      Do the maths. You know the current rating of an MCB/RCBO for a lighting circuit and the current rating of the wire (NOT 2.5mm^2). You should know how many watts each LED lamp draws.

    • @vikingofengland
      @vikingofengland 4 роки тому +1

      @@b21playa No, the "receiver" for the cable core is too deep inside the unit. But they are great for extending lighting circuits and wiring up a rose (i.e. loop in / loop out, switch and load). If the light has stranded cable then I would use some Wagos inside a Wago lighting box just before the light fitting.

    Hi. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to wiring lights. My questions are:
    1. What cable is required
    2. What size fuse for led
    3. What replaces a transformer to get from 240v to LED voltage

    • @jaydenplaysguitar3896
      @jaydenplaysguitar3896 3 роки тому

      1.5mm²
      6A BS 60898 MCB is most common and RCD protection is vital for lighting circuits as we need to make sure the neutral is continous at all times. This will be perfect for LEDs but other lamps possibly might need thinking about.
      240V to ELV transformer is within the downlight itself I believe. Us sparks hate joists for that reason, if the transformer bit wasn't there they wouldn't be as big and much easier to install but downlights would never be made this way.

    • @jaydenplaysguitar3896
      @jaydenplaysguitar3896 3 роки тому

      LED strips have a seperate transformer as they can not be built within (unlike downlights). This works just as effective
