Incredibly beautiful tone for playing Bach. You should record more Bach, Ben! With this Ibanez

It’s great to hear music from over 4 centuries ago, link to modern jazz language. There is a wonderful book that analyses scale fragments from Bach and hey match bebop phrases. There is truly nothing new under the sun!

Excellent lesson Ben! This sounds like the origin of a lot of bebop lines

Thank you Ben for reiterating Bach. He'll always remain the greatest of all times to me. Some say he was the first jazz player; I'd rather say he 'borrowed' and perfected many chord progressions and voice leadings from the likes of Antonio Vivaldi and Benedetto Marcello. He actually 'covered' many Italian Concertos for the keyboard (BWV 972-987), thereby rendering perfect two hand piano voicing. I can hear Bach in many of your great pieces; one coming to mind would be the sus4 sequence in measures 3 and 4 of your 'Frank Brother's Solo'. Listening to this and trying to play it gives me immense pleasure!

Picking every single note does good things for your head! (but not on the Chaconne) You have quite good taste!

One thing I do is listening to bach and when I find a good pattern I apply it to 25s or other chords , I always find good material

Thank you so much for your brilliant contributions to the study of the guitar. May I ask if you use any particular published works to study Bach partitas? Are you referencing specific arrangements for guitar, or for violin and you are arranging on the guitar yourself? Thanks very much for considering my questions.

Thanks so much for watching! I arranged this myself after researching a variety of transcriptions and recorded performances.

Hi Ben. This is quite remarkable actually. This is precisely the thesis of my masters degree; how modern improvisers might mine the melodic navigation demonstrated in the violin partitas to better understand logical and artful melodic development. I'd love to connect with you and pick your brain. Let me know if we can make something happen?
