    Note: during the flip effect setting up the 2nd scene, I mistakenly removed the Skill cards instead of the Spell cards.

    The cards look fantastic, bright and nice to look at, love it when they are well made like this.
    Looking for Solo play games like this, really liking the looks of this so far.

    Thank you for this playthrough. I played this with my roommate and yours truly went critical. The black market was holding on to the doc wagon cards by keeping them down low in the deck. Mix that in with the bad luck of drawing some powerful normal obstacles. Again great playthrough and hopefully you will produce another one with this game. Thank you very much for your time and effort you put into all your videos!

    Didn't Dan beat the final obstacle at the end of Scene 1?

    Thanks for sharing, Ricky! I've had my eye on this game for a while, because I love Shadowrun universe. Just recently I completed the videogame Shadowrun: Dragonfall and thoroughly enjoyed it.
    At first, I was a bit concerned about this game, because it has that annoying sticker mechanic and the gameplay, at hindsight, seems like a bit too symbol-based and the theme just fades into the background. But after seeing how it actually works, I think I'll buy it anyway, because the co-op element seems to work pretty nicely and my collection currently lacks a co-operative deckbuilder. I could see myself and my gaming group enjoying this one quite a bit. =)

    They may not be the same but WSIG Legendary Encounters or Shadowrun... Considering I'm playing them solo. Much appreciated

    I really enjoyed your playthrough and hope you release the conclusion. There may be a number of playthroughs out there, but they aren't you!
    This session was well played and one of the most accurate I've watched. What minor mistakes you've made were already addressed. I can't wait for my copy to arrive. My order's stuck until Machi Koro finally gets off the boat from China.

    My three friends have played it five times and still can’t beat Crossfire.

    Thanks for doing this walkthrough... doesn't seem to be a bad game but I guess I stick to "Legendary". Even though I hoped for such long time to see something from the Shadowrun universe.

    I played a solo 4-character game a couple days ago. The Mage was definitely the prime hitter. Lightning Bolt and Death Touch ftw. It came down to the last obstacle in Scene 3, and a successful Abort. However, I had been getting Staggered characters since early in Scene 2 so it was desperate times for much of the game.

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  10 років тому

      NefariousKoel Staggered is nasty.. my son and I played three times last night.. it's good that it is quick to play and then we're like, "try again?"! Only two more aborts and we can upgrade :)

      I'm curious whether the initial difficulty is any different depending on how many characters you use on a run. The adjustments for fewer players is nice, but I'm still not sure if it can be easier or more difficult.

      The game doesn't scale: fewer players may mean fewer obstacles over all but crucially the players have access to a much smaller card pool which can decide the game.
      The game is only difficulty because the obstacles are not balanced correctly and the crossfire deck is random nonsense that screws the players over. I don't really see how you can reconcile that with a deckbuilder. It needs a lot of work this game.

    • @NefariousKoel
      @NefariousKoel 10 років тому

      I did notice that some Obstacles from the single bullet deck were as difficult to defeat as the two bullet deck. Although they didn't do as much damage per card, on average.

    • @martinarnold5239
      @martinarnold5239 10 років тому

      They don't need to, most characters can't take much damage anyway and there are precious few opportunities to heal. Plus, once you're staggered you've lost.
      I don't think this game has much of a future, which is a real shame. I think it was rushed out for Gencon. The default state is for the game to crush the players due to the ridiculous balance. A win here and there only happens because of luck. Most turns you chuck your entire hand which means next turn you have 2 cards, possibly a third from the BM. You are constantly behind the curve.
      One of the hard obstacles has a first level requirement of 8 cards! There's a normal obstacle that has 5! If that's the starting obstacle for a runner he's toast!

  • @Albatros28215
    @Albatros28215 10 років тому

    I interpreted the Remington to damage multiple obstacles for the runner holding the card only. Ricky appeared to have it hit against both runner's obstacles - does Ricky have it right? If so that would be very helpful in a 4 player game, which is very sticky for the runners from the get go for zero karma runners.

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  10 років тому +1

      Al Ross It only hit one runner's obstacle, not both. The card says "multiple obstacles facing one runner" - so, it can't help more than one runner, but it can help ANY runner. Hope this helps ! best wishes, Rick

      Ricky Royal I see after review I took a previous defeated obstacle as being fired upon by the Remington. Thanks for the clarification.

    There's an error when setting up the 2nd scene 16:00 . The obstacle's flip power requires you to cycle all spell (blue) and weapon (black) cards from the black market. You remove the weapon card but wipe out all the skill cards (red) which should have stayed. All told, you only should have yanked 1 card.

    • @scottsmartky
      @scottsmartky 10 років тому

      Uh huh, you're going to be pulling a lot from the much tougher 2 bullet deck due to the Crossfire level being 3 so you quit. :p Don't think you were going to pull that out. That Crossfire card killed you, delaying you a turn.

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  10 років тому

      Scott Smart I didn't quit Scott.. I went on to get through 3 of the 4 obstacles and left the game with just 1 Karma. It certainly can be tough ! That 2nd round really set things up badly for the final scene..

      I was kidding Ricky, and I meant you stopped filming. Would have loved to have seen that part on camera. Plus, we could have seen how aborting a mission works, since as hard as the game is you're going to be doing that often.

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  10 років тому

      Scott Smart I did film it ... I was thinking of releasing it ... But only planned a 30min instructional. There's quite a few films on this one already ;) Are you playing this one ? (We played another two games this evening )

    Are we supposed to use 7 basic cards for each role, or just 7 cards for one role, and the other is just a role card? Where in the rules does it state only 7 cards, or where is this info to state only 7 basic cards and the other role card is only for card signage?

    • @BoxofDelights
      @BoxofDelights  6 років тому

      You play just as I showed you in the video. Each character has just 7 cards for one of their roles only. See page 12 of the rulebook where it says, "If you have more than one role, choose a starting deck for one of those roles." Hope this helps.. Enjoy the game! Ricky.

    The game is broken.
    The lack of balance is really prominent. There are way too many overpowered normal obstacles that should be in the hard deck.
    The game doesn't scale at all.
    The BM cards are the same which means every game each player will be the same cards.
    There game doesn't ship with anywhere near enough content: 2 missions is a joke. Forget the third because you have to 'level up' using their silly karma system which everyone will just ignore anyway.
    The game lasts ten minutes until you draw broken obstacles and a crossfire card that forces all your cards out of your hand or doubles damage against you and you're done.
    The rule for becoming staggered is ridiculous: lose all your cards and draw only one at the start of your turn. You might as well just say the character is dead because they will be. They can't do anything so why bother?
    I don't even think this mess was playtested. Thebox is half empty and yet the DC deckbuilding game is cheaper and has more cards. Was this rushed out for Gencon? It feels like it. A real shame.

    Shadowrun Crossfire is completely broken and the worst game in my collection by far. Don't be fooled like I was.
