It hurts most being a hanzo main because our boy has received nothing but nerfs. But hanzo was always good against sombra at least. Until, the rework. And now she can win the 1v1 easily. In fact there's few characters she can't 1v1easily now.
Read my other comment, also, TF2 has Spy, which his stealth is balanced, you will take about 1.5 seconds to decloak with the ability to kill only one of the classes if they do not hear you nor turn around or if you suck fighting spy, ahem, pyro
I had a sombra spawn camp me once when I was playing zenyatta, I’m not that toxic in general but when I finally killed her I t-bagged for about 5 seconds straight
Her invisibly is what really drives me nuts. Every single other game has some sort of indication where they are, a clear silhouette, glitching animations or a constant noise queue. She has NONE of that and it drives me BONKERS!
Her stealth used to be on a timer, which encourages her to be careful as it can run out. Also, she has to either burn stealth to get to the back line or sneak her way there and hope the enemy team doesn’t drop her
@@tdobarron1 thing is I play tank, mostly dive like doom, ball and winton. Sombra doesn’t even flank anymore so she just hacks you when you go in with no risk to herself. So that locks you into things like rein, d’va, mauga and orisa. Oh but rein is countered by orisa and mauga, so it’s now 3 picks. Oh but if i pick d’va they’ll pick orisa or mauga which are poor matchups. So I’m now locked to the 2 most boring tanks in the game
@@loogkai it all links back to 5v5. She was fine when you had 2 tanks because you couldnt just continually hack one tank to make them useless without the other tank being able to fuck her over
@@TheBagMan0 that's not the point. To remove/nerf her core mechanics which makes her seem kinda unfair sometimes is the formula to make Overwatch a more boring game because I think that's the fun of Overwatch: how unfair or overpowered the characters are in certain aspects or situations. Whats even worse is when the enemy doesnt start on sombra, but sees that you’re doing well so decides to pick her and target you all game until you swap off

I remember this from a TF2 video "If spy was Consistent as other classes he would be insufferable" and that's what Sombra is, not to mention there is very little room for counterplay for a character who can shut off abilities with little to no skill required, not to mention the fact it shuts off ults is such bullshit
Literally EMP as an ult should be the ONLY ability that disables other abilities. It should be that impactful but it seems like they would rather make her entire kit annoying rather than useful for your team.
Yeah. At least Spy needs a lot more mind games, cloak management and also relies on a melee weapon. Disgusing takes serious game sense and a sense of understanding how player mentality works. You have limited cloak so you need to know where ammo packs are and where to de cloak ahead of time or at least think quickly. Finally, his one-shot requires you be behind them with a melee weapon. I play tf2 and OW and dying to a Spy feels significantly less annoying.
This entire comment section is filled with low elo crybabies. Sombra has a vast amount of counterplay. But of course you wouldn’t understand it because ur in piss low elo. Literally no t500 players care about sombra because she’s obsolete once you have 2 brain cells and can aim.
Take one ability and REMOVE IT! Either hack, invisible, translocator, virus. Some character have 3 abilities, she’s get 4 and a passive. Honestly idk why they thought Invisibility in a team based tactical shooter was a good idea. That’s honestly insane.
Her invisibility and fast running needs a long cooldown. And they should remove virus. You’re right she has a whole bunch of OP abilities which help her survive and insta kill supports and DPS
Granted but now every other skill is now super buffed invisible is now permanent, translocators is reverted to the old one and makes 10 meter barrier that pushes anybody close and stuns them if they hit something and the barrier last for 5 seconds virus now also makes multiple screens that block your screen and hack can now also shut off weapons and can target multiple people and makes a robot or turret swap team and emp is pretty much insta death for electronics until player respawns or in the case of objective 10 seconds
She prevents me from loving this game. No other hero fills me with this much hatred. I love OW, I have an unhealthy obsession with this game but Sombra holds me back from…then again…maybe that’s a good thing.

@ripafromanjj5041 It is NOT often like that, though. Sometimes I'm not even playing well as Widow and it's the very beginning of the match. I get ONE SINGLE PICK with a headshot after almost 3 minutes of play. I'm sucking hard and they STILL swap to Sombra (sometimes it's not even the player I killed, but their random teammate who was killed by my tank or something). I ALMOST NEVER play Sombra, though. She's probably the DPS I play the LEAST. If I'm playing Widow and it's not working, I swap to anyone else but Sombra: - If I still want to play a sniper character, I'll go Hanzo or Ashe. - If a Sombra was fucking me up when I was Widow, I'll change to Junkrat and explode the shit out of her (not sure why Junkrat wasn't mentioned in this video, he's such a great anti-Sombra). - If the enemy Widow, Hanzo, or Ashe was out-sniping me and I want to dive them, then I'll go Genji, Reaper, or Venture (maybe even Tracer, but that's too dangerous). - If I was getting fucked up by other dive heroes (not Sombra), like Tracer, Reaper, Genji, Venture, Moira, Doomfist, Winston, D.va, Wrecking Ball, then I'll still go Junkrat (even against D.va, but I'll mostly ignore her and focus her teammates), or Cassidy, Mei, Pharah, even Sojourn. - If a flying dive hero was the one fucking me up, like Pharah, Echo, Juno, even battle Mercy, then I'll go Soldier: 76, Cassidy, Ashe, Bastion, or I'll mirror them with Echo or Pharah. - If the enemy tank was the one fucking me up when I was Widow, and he's also fucking my team up, then I'll go a typical tank buster like Bastion, Sojourn, Reaper, Torbjörn, Junkrat (again), or maybe even Symmetra, depending on the map. - If the problem was just me losing to the average DPS poking heroes or not being able to kill the supports, then I might try to out-poke them with Sojourn, Soldier: 76, Ashe, Cassidy, Hanzo, maybe even Mei, Echo or Torbjörn, or I try to dive them with Genji, Reaper, Tracer, Venture, Echo, Junkrat (again). I feel like I lose my soul every time I pick Sombra (at least in the state she is right now, but that might change in the future). But that's not to say that I NEVER pick her. No, sometimes I have to sell my soul to Satan, unfortunately. If there's a Doomfist dominating the entire lobby and nothing else works (Junkrat, Cassidy, Hanzo, Reaper, Sojourn), then my last resort will have to be Sombra... I might do the same thing when there is an unkillable and slippery Mercy healing and resurrecting everyone, because Mercy's slipperiness basically outmatches Sombra's slipperiness, so it's kind of fair. I always tend to pick Sombra last, though, when I have exhausted all the other possibilities. Edit after a few days: since writing this here, I've been picking Sombra every time the enemy picks Sombra to counter me or a teammate playing as Widow. But I mostly ignore their Sombra. I'll go for the supports and DPS, and if we win the match, I'll blame their Sombra for inspiring me. It's been very funny and poetic doing that.
@tyshonruffin1053 I'm glad no one in this comment section is a Dev. Sombra was always annoying since day 1. People just suck at countering her cause they don't pay attention. Even now, after a hard nerf, people still complain.
To the Sombra stans in the comment section, you clearly didn't watch the video before commenting. It's not about her being OP, cause she's not. It's about how unfun it is to play against the character. A character that pauses your ability to use cooldowns is basically the fun police. If you get enjoyment from being annoying that's fine but you're still annoying, you don't have to try to justify it.
@@die_mez17Come on, you know thats enough time to make even a tank die let alone squishies(I see it happen all the time), 1 sec in this game is A LOT of time, specially when it happens every 6-7 seconds
Virus is such a stupid addition alongside perma-invisibility. It’s weird how they can never decide on wanting big burst damage and one shot combos or removing them. Like taking out ventures and junk rats combos but keeping this for example. I feel like hack should take longer for tanks and Bob to make it more high risk high reward and invisibility should either be a duration or not keep her fully invisible. That’s pretty much my yap session, I used to like playing sombra and I love the translocator changes but she just doesn’t do it for me anymore 😅 thanks for the video!
And you should be able to hack enemy Sombra's to turn off their locator. So you can actually kill them And taking away Junkrat's One hit when it required an ability and aim is so dumb because they just have Hanzo one hit with a normal arrow
Virus is a very questionable choice especially with how much damage it does. Most of the changes tho i liked, ESPECIALLY TRANSLATOR, as now it feels like sombra finally requires at lease A brain cell to play her
@@blackjesus947Translocator does not require a brain cell or at least not to be able to throw at a wall but it's stupid how instant it is to teleport like that, ventures dig and Mei ice is such a stupid abilities to save themselves in general. Though for Sombra it shouldn't be instant like maybe a delay before it teleports so you can still hit her or throwing it and having to press it again to teleport would be nice.
Humble 🤣 I like it, swap to deva and then smash her once she shows herself a little to close and save your booster for once she throws. It’s easy and they quickly change once you shut them down once or twice
Make her respawn time 2 minutes. It should take her 30 seconds to be able to hack. She can remain invisible, but make her constantly mutter spanish loudly wherever she goes. Make her translocator faulty so sometimes she throws it but it doesn't actually translocate her. Make her lose SR even if she wins matches. This... will be the best sombra rework
I mained Sombra from the start, timed invis and tp era, not from her OW2 rework version 3 (adding virus). She used to be difficult to play. Now it's just toddler levels
I honestly hate sombra to a personal level, if someone is playing sombra i immediately switch and focus on nothing but invalidating sombra. I will literally just stay close to the more vulnerable heroes scanning the area and if she pops up ill run at her like a rabid dog
As a sombra main myself I actually respect your standpoint. And I myself even hate playing against a mirror sombra lmao she's annoying to deal with. I agree her kit needs some tweaks. I think stealth duration is a big thing that needs changes, you gave a lot of good suggestions. Alsooooo I might be a sombra main but I don't think I'm much like other sombra mains? I hate singling out or hard focusing specific people in a game and I HATE spawn camping. It's not fun. All sombras should stop spawn camping I stg it's not cute. Thanks for the good video :)
I hate sombras with all my heart but this comment made me believe there are still good sombra dps players around. Just hope more of sombra mains were like you
As a Sombra main, hating Sombra was truly a skill issue UNTIL the virus rework. That rework removed 80% of her skill expression while leaning into all the most frustrating aspects to play against. I also really miss being solo ulted when using TP
One time I called a sombra ass because they were and they spawn camped me untill the game was over and then called me terrible and his whole team agreed that the hate was valid since he plays som
"Stay close to your team, that way they can protect you" Yeah...I F T H E Y H A V E E A R S . I don't think a hero that can make simply existing in the videogame as certain heroes impossible should really be a thing. I haven't played Zen in so long, not because i don't like him, but because every match has a Sombra in it at some point and i know for a fact, that i will have her on my ass 24/7 when i'm on Zen. I genuinely have fun with this game, even when the team sucks, but Sombra is this one thing that drags it all down, every single time.
@@Slogstin Even if they're not communicating or care, a target in a huddle is so much less lucrative. Never underestimate the value of having another body or two nearby.
tell your team there's a sombra or just tell them to help you out, also on certain maps as zen you're one of the only heroes enemies cannot hear because he's floating. as for this, if you died once to sombra go out another way, most maps shouldn't have one exit from a spawn room. Also if you're zen, you're able to just discord and 2-3 tap her, if she tps away that should give you enough time to grab a health pack if you know the map or near one, but your health recharges fast anyways so that's not always necessary. Use your ult if you have to, that way you can get to your team faster as well, I mean if you're one support, the tank should know you're being preyed on and it's really their fault if they can't protect you
@@CodenameLavenderWrong. it’s not our faults, especially if we’re on the frontline. if we’re staging before a fight and that sombras bothering you that’s a different story,we’ll deal with it. but to put that solely on us when dps are present as well is just lame.
Honestly, I am surprised no one really talks about this, but I think changing the effect of hack would be great to reducing the frustration she gives. I think that hack should world like a reversed Kitsune Rush; in that it reduces damage per shot, reduces healing per shot (or per second depending on healing source and reduces movement speed by a little bit. This allows the enemy to still fight back or use escape abilities, reduce frustration of hack just being a big middle finger to half the roster, AND actually be easier to balance than current hack effect. All the devs can really do with current hack is cooldowns, how long it takes to hack and hack duration. With my idea, it would be all of that, but now you can also change how strong the effects are (for example it could be change easily from 20% to 40% reduced dps).
sombra just shouldnt be able to invis AND hack AND do extreme burst damage. She needs to lose 1 of the 3. literally only skill u need for sombra is knowing her health breakpoint. thats IT. unpopular opinion, id love a sombra support. hacking tanks for brawl comps and being able to provide overhealth or something like that. sounds refreshing for a support. that and she becomes the thing she swore to destroy
As a Zen/Doom main, I wholeheartedly agree with all this, have my like and sub 🙏 I too miss the old translocator simply bc I loved camping it and waiting to solo ult her😭
Here is my idea. What if hack was the virus ability and you had to skill shoot it. You still have to leave cloak to fire it off so that forces Sombra to show herself. And maybe have translocator only start its cooldown if she isn't actively cloaked. Have it only start its cooldown when she is visible. You can use Translocator to get your quick invisibility disengage, but if you use it to engage a target and uncloak to hack or shoot your smg you have to commit to that fight and wait for the cooldown before you can use it again. This way you have at least a guaranteed duration of time to punish her engagement if your or your team reacts. Either that or force translocator to share a cooldown with going uncloaked. A bit scummy of a rework, but it would at least be fair to counter her.
You know how a tank sees a tank that counters them and switches off? That’s me on support when I see a Sombra. The instant o see sombra I swap to Kiriko, I’M GETTING THAT KILL
That's good an emergency teleport just in case too unlike Moira which I've seen called the Sombra counter even tho one that's only really in a group which means that any other support can probably do better and two has hackable ult. I mean I can see why they would say that but I've seen more people throw a antinade and hit someone without any kind of telling than a Moira actually counter a Sombra with a higher chance than any other hero
Sombra is one of my mains, since her introduction in OW1. I do enjoy playing her but her latest change is honestly the worst thing that they've done. If there is a Sombra on the enemy team, I switch to her myself and focus the ever living crap out of the enemy Sombra. I keep hacking her until she switches. It's the only thing that seems to work as of right now.
Also a Sombra main, the latest rework sucks and I absolutely agree with many of the complaints players have SINCE THE VIRUS REWORK. Previously, she was a genuinely skillful hero, now she's a noob stomper
@@zc8673 Genuinely skillful lmao, she could still teleport away in the blink of an eye and her hack was just as bad as it is now, worse even because of the ability lockout duration
@@Aesy_Ford I was a top 500 Sombra main on console and she is not skillful even before the rework 🤣🤣🤣 Now she's not as strong I just play tracer but Sombra is so fun if you're low Elo. The skill in playing Sombra is if you can still main her in masters. That shit is HARD after the recent nerf or even before the 225 HP change
@@plumpydayzif you're a widow main you can still play her lol, position with your team more, they should know enemy is running som so if u stick around them she's less of an issue, use your mine, tag her when she tps, grapple, headshot her, you have options Most good sombras will virus then hack or just virus and shoot, if any hacks first, they're pretty stupid and literally tells you where they are and if you're really good, just snipe them in the face there Not saying she isn't strong, but she can definitely be dealt with even as a widow, just have a good team comp, tag her before she hacks and it cancels it
i personally think that sombra's hack ability should be removed entirely because being able to disable anyones abilities on a 7 sec cooldown seems too overpowered. Of course you should keep her ult, because that takes some level of planning
@@SSoodaPoP i'm not saying get rid of the entire hacking theme in general, keep her ult for that exact reason. look at KAY/O from VALORANT, his ult disables your abilities instead of having a buyable ability that does the same thing, even if it has a shorter duration. (not saying that OW2 and VALORANT have the same balancing though) 1 second of being hacked basically immobilizes the said target (for non mobility heroes) and add the fact that you take more damage while hacked makes a perfect scenario of hella annoying mayhem that you just have to live with or just don't play the game. i play tank occassionally, and have had many scenarios of going from 700 hp, to 0 hp in 2 seconds, all cuz of being hacked :/
The real reason everybody hates Sombra is due to the type of person that chooses to pick a character who is so OP. A truly toxic and low skilled individual typically.
I honestly miss the Old Sombra, she had that "If 2 trains leaves the station at 4:20pm, which one makes a sandwich by the time the 3rd train gets to the station" The "joke" is, I miss it when you actually had to know maps/information/temp comp because the Camo and TL had a timer so you couldn't just afk 100% like she came these days.
as a sombra main, i can confidently say that ALL of you are to blame for the way sombra is now. We WARNED you that she would feel 10x worse to play against after her rework, but yall just had to keep complaining about hack. Now instead of being locked out of your abilities for 1.5 seconds, youre locked out of your abilities for 10 seconds and have to walk back from spawn
@@FenekkuKitsune the point of the rework was to de-incentivize sombra from hacking by: 1. nerfing the cooldown from 4 to 6 2. making it so that she’s pulled out of stealth when she uses it 3. removing the damage buff it gave to sombra 4. adding virus as an offensive ability for engaging when coming out of stealth People cried because of hack’s “oppressiveness” which led to it getting nerfed except the only reason you play sombra is FOR hack so they added virus to compensate for weaker hack, making her more lethal. So instead of being the mosquito thats constantly cancelling your abilities like she was before, shes the hornet that just appears and straight up murders you. Many abilities can shut down both of those. Deadeye is literally easy af to counter in every elo (hence why it’s one of the worst últs, if not the worst) and axe hardly ever gets hacked on purpose. If ur mad about these things that’s honestly funny af. Skill issue
@davidperezvazquez7856 personally yeah alot of abilities can stop them and death also can but being "hacked" stopping an axe mid swing is crazy deadeye really isn't a physical object so I can't say much about that and deadeye kind of needs a buff also assuming I'm raging typing that and saying skill issue is cringe especially in a youtube comment section
@@davidperezvazquez7856 sombra stans are something else :0 nobody has fun playing against a sombra, there is a reason your in the minority of people who actually like sombra
Sombra main here. We also wish that invis wasn't permanent. Really hoping they change it up next season. Also, what about giving Sombra the Moira right-click treatment and make it so you have to track with hack for it to go off? It would put a little more skill into her kit. 13:16 this. Watching from a distance while the enemy team spychecks is funny to us, and is literally what we want you to be doing. Cuz then you're not shooting our team or paying attention to them.
That's all she needs is more skill, her entire kit feels automated for what it is, like normally to achieve her level of flanking power you gotta learn genji or tracer who both take crazy mechanical skill and genji isnt even near as good as sombra, yet sombra just auto aims your abilities away, lands a giant projectile the size of tracers hitbox, and than spams a more tight version of tracers guns with better range.... if shes gonna give players that kinda power to be a one man army inna backline, while always having the advantage in 1v1s, than she needs compared skill to tracer or genji. And I don't think moira beam will work, it needs to be a skill shot, it can have some forgiveness where if it misses it refunds half the cd back but its cc at the end of the day and on a dps as well, which they said theyd remove all cc from the dps role only to leave the automated dps cc ability 😂
Maybe they also just added that. People can move out of the hack pretty easily...though those targets tend to already be in motion. Maybe just increase time needed to hack. Today she feels balanced.
as a sombra main torb is actually really tough to go against mostly because of his turret, because like you mentioned in the video the average human reaction speed isn't fast enough to hit sombra before she gets off hack, the turret does not have this issue. even if I decided to engage without hack the turret would still be an extra source of damage making winning duels harder, so it forces me to deal with turret first which could make me miss out on opportunities that could've been capitalized on had it not been there I'm also a sliver player so maybe I'm just bad idk
I despise Widowmaker, the only other character that can just make the one-sided decision to not let you play the game, but at least I can respect the skill it takes to land shots. She still doesn't belong in this game, but a WM potg is at least somewhat entertaining to watch. Sombra guarantees you won't have fun. A good Sombra will solo carry, but a bad one will still be an absolute pain in the ass. It's like Teemo in League, a character that trades the fun of an entire team for the fun of a single player. Objectively toxic game design.
This. I can't be mad at a Widowmaker because she LANDED the shot to my SKULL. If she was one shotting body shots then it'd be an issue. Even if I run up there's a chance I'll be sniped but not every Widow is that skilled. Sombra didn't that level of skill and that's the main complaint. They fixed it yesterday though. Gave her invis a timer was a BIG step in the right direction and her being revealed is a constant thing now.
Hot take for sombra: You could keep the ability to activate her teleport in the air but keep it on a timer. In Team Fortress 2, The Demoman has these sticky bombs that when launched (without side grades) takes a couple of seconds to activate, maybe could be done for sombras teleport. Maybe ya could add a little purple effect to let the sombra know she's able to teleport
I mostly play support and when going against a Sombra I will usually go Lucio for spy checking (and hes my main) I can also sorta speed boost my teammates away from the sombra, Brigette as well I like to go for if she is just constantly in the backline, and Baptiste for the same reason Soldier and Torbjorn that you said in your video, when u realize u/ur teammate is being hacked drop the lamp then mow down Sombra. Also I think making stealth similar to Spy from Tf2 would feel more fair I just find Spy so much less infuriating to play against then sombra because he has risk. (Tho I play Pyro mostly in that so I just constantly spy check too)
As a sombra player I think you need some context as to how I got here. It dosent matter what charecter I pick I learned some one always hates me. When I started it was my first fps and people hated me cause I was bad. Then I got decent at mercy in OW1 and people said I had no skill and hated me. Then I got decent at Dva and people hated me cause of defense matrix. And then I got decent at brigette during goats and people hated me cause she was OP. And then I continued playing brig cause I love the paladin fantasy. When she was nerfed into the ground and people hated me for picking a trash charecter. When I got good at Symmetra or Mei people hated me. In the end I determined it dosent mater what charecter you play if you are doing well or doing badly people will hate you regardless. So that brings us to today and I will gladly feast on your hacked tears for the years of pain you all caused me just for learning the game. You will suffer every tick of my virus as I have taken every ounce of your undeserved hatred. Your rage in match chat will fuel me further as I spawn camp you for daring to complain about me or your own team mate. I am a white hat hacker, if you spew hatred or rage at your team mate expect me for I will be there the silent hero that lives in the shadows of your worst nightmares. Also GGWP with
Is someone always hating on you too? :) Well, I have a similar story. I want to share my experience and opinion about this game. I don't think it will be about Sombra, but I hope you enjoy my story! I’ve played many games like Warface, War Thunder, Apex Legends, Minecraft, and other less popular online games, but I have never encountered a community as dumb and toxic as the one in Overwatch 2. Of course, I don't mean all players. I started playing in the middle of Season 4 and almost immediately faced aggression from my team when I picked Mercy and started supporting them. Instead of just being a healbot, I boosted damage for my teammates, and once, a teammate told me to delete the game... It’s not uncommon for people to curse or even wish death upon someone just because they think their teammate is playing poorly. Sometimes, they write in the general chat, asking both enemies and allies to report a player to get them banned, instead of calmly and kindly pointing out mistakes, giving advice, and helping someone improve. Now, about the stupidity. I remember playing Ramattra, and a friendly Pharah kept complaining about me, even though I was matching the enemy Mauga step-by-step: we had almost identical stats in terms of damage, kills, deaths, and damage blocked. Both my team and the enemy team praised me for my play, but something about it still annoyed Pharah. I tried asking her what I was doing wrong, but she didn’t provide any arguments and just kept complaining. When I played as Moira, I was doing my best to support my team. Once, my entire team got wiped out, and I was the only one left alive (I always try to survive instead of making reckless moves). Suddenly, our Genji called me an idiot just because I didn’t stall the payload. He wanted me to jump in alone against the entire enemy team to delay them so my team could get to the payload and contest it... Sure, I could have delayed them-for about 3 seconds-because I wouldn’t have lasted any longer against five enemies. On the Oasis map, I was playing Ana, and everything was fine until the middle of the first round when a friendly Mei started complaining about our tank, saying he was playing badly. I checked the stats and saw that our Moira had dealt three times more damage than she had healed. I asked, “So you’re more concerned about the tank than Moira?” Mei answered, “Yes.” I didn’t continue the conversation. Rhetorical question: how could the tank feel confident if he wasn’t being properly healed and had minimal support? I couldn’t just heal the tank because I had two other teammates to take care of (I deliberately didn’t heal Moira, as I despise players who deal two or even three times more damage than they heal, except for Zenyatta). Sometimes, players complain that the support isn’t healing them but ignore how they’re playing. For example, Reinhardt charges deep into the enemy team and then complains that he wasn’t healed... And it happens repeatedly. Or DPS heroes, just like tanks, engage in fights they can’t win and then blame the supports. Most of what I wrote happened in Quick Play. I can’t even imagine what goes on in ranked matches. In the end, I turned off all chats, and it was a great decision. :) Play games for your own enjoyment and don’t let people ruin your mood. Games are meant to be fun! P.S. This is my “short” opinion on this game and its... inhabitants. It’s a fun game, but most of the people are extremely aggressive. All the best! ;)
@@FenekkuKitsune Instead of learning how to play against annoying characters or using their counter picks, it's easier to keep complaining. I also hate Sombra, but what's stopping people from picking her counters like Reaper, Symmetra, D.Va, Winston, Moira, or Kiriko? I’m not going to list all the abilities of each character - people can learn it themselves.
@@Orcinusorca-l3g The issue is that a character shouldn't have to force a team to change to counter them. You HAVE to react to Sombra - and she gets value simply from being reacted to - and that's part of why she's so stupid and unfun to play against. A great example is Zen. People love playing Zen. But Zen is a very easy - stupidly easy - target for Sombra. So... How do you play Zen? You can't. Now don't get me wrong, there are some situations in the game that do force changes. For example Pharah if she's good can force a DPS to change to a hitscan. But that's not ALWAYS the case, I've had many games where I've dominated a Pharah as Venture! And games where Doom's punched Pharah out of the sky! Not Sombra though, in particular because even her supposed "counters" can very easily lose the fight just from a simple hack virus combo with a bit of aim.
@@FenekkuKitsune Yes, indeed. It will be difficult to deal with a random team, but if the team is assembled and plays like a true team or in a pre-prepared composition, then I don’t think there will be significant problems with Sombra
Sombra main here (+600hs between OW1 and OW2). The main thing that keeps me playing the hero is that the game is just played differently. You are not playing a hitscan or regular flanker who just shoots the enemy, but have to play actual chess ingame looking for oportunities and open windows for your team. In that sense, both versions of OW2 Sombra feel WAY worse to play (both as and, I believe, against) because she's pushed away from that dinamic. OW1 Sombra was not only the most fun imo, but also the most "fair" I believe. Her utility and longer silence duration in hack came at cost of her dmg and 1v1 capacity. If you hacked the wrong person or at the wrong time, most your value was gone. The 6v6 game also was healthier to deal with a Sombra, especially with 2 tanks which could peel for each other when one was hacked. She just acomplished the fantasy her character brought to the table. The first OW2 rework just took everything away to focus only on dmg, making her a more "Tracery" hero. Second rework gave her back some of that chess playstyle, but still not as good as 1v1. If I have to say it, I don't think (nor believe) Sombra should stop being hated in that sense, she's annoying, looking for oportunities, that's just the point of her character. Back in OW1 (and even at this moment with second OW2 rework) she was not the strongest hero at all. Heck, she used to be called a troll pick in OW1 (and sometimes in OW2 too). It's pretty similar to what happened to Mei, Orisa, Cassady or Doomfist when transicioning to OW2, comunity persepcion on "annoying" or "unfair" abilities took away some of the most creative ways to play the game, which differ from the classic GPS "just shoot the enemy" playstyle. I truly hope that, if we go back to 6v6, with 2 tanks and new supports with strong disengage as Kiriko or Lifeweaver, Sombra could go back to her last version in OW1, which I believe was both the more fun and more fair version she had since then. (And Mei too, truly miss her old playstyle, now she's just a Zarya with slow attached to her beam) Btw you forgot to mention Sombra's secret passive taunt, where, if you dare play Sombra, the entire enemy team will priorize chasing you, killing you, teabagging you and shit talk in all chat, even if that costs then the game
@@BrinySpy yeah, but that is kind of the point of what she means as a character, personality wise too! Kind of like how Yordles are annoying to play against in League, which fits their fantasy
Why ppl say to not play her...if she's fun, her lore and stuff are great...being hated by enemies is actually nice cuz u get some ppl chasing u after u execute their support and this feels good even if they manage to kill u
I started playing overwatch a couple days ago. First, and only, character i developed some hate. I understand right now im an walking skill issue, but it also feels like there isnt much counter play
Sadly the people in this comment section crying about sombra are also walking skill issues. They have refused to get better and actually use sombra counterplay, instead choosing to cry and blame their losses on the character and not their shit mechanics/game sense.
@@davidperezvazquez7856 bro it's not even a skill issue. I can swap to brig & just by existing I counter one, MAYBE two dive characters. It's boring af though!! I don't wanna babysit my fkn Ana all game & throw packs in the backline. That's boring af. Explain that.
@@shaheedroylance explain what? The inability for you to understand that OW is a team game? And that certain comps COUNTER other comps? That’s the reality of the game. If you decide to play 1 or 2 heroes exclusively and refuse to swap to help your team, you better be good enough with game sense and mechanics to make up for it. If not, keep whining and stay hardstuck. Also brig doesn’t just counter 2 dive heroes. She counters nearly every single one. That’s why she’s the anti dive support???
this is my idea for a sombra rework L shift: stealth - now 100% movement speed bonus - enemies can now see you from 10m rather than 4m and the audio cue is significantly louder when you're revealed -Stealth is now on a resource meter Right click: hack -distance shortened from 15m to 10m -hack takes longer to cast -is no longer interruptible with basic damage -no longer locks on but is a meter you build by tracking the target while holding right click. After a successful hack it does the same amount of damage that a hack+virus does now but no longer has an ability lockout and no longer does DOT E: translocator -you now get a percentage of your stealth resource back after using TP Q:EMP -size of AOE decreased -quicker ult charge -less health taken -hack becomes twice as fast to cast on EMP'd targets
I’ve only played the game for a month but I’ve been putting in a lot of hours. I don’t understand how infinite invis has been a thing for this long or how people have just dealt with it, and as an Ashe main I’m glad you brought up the dynamite point it’s ridiculous the value she can get with no effort. To me it’s simple - Some kind of cool down on invis - Decrease hack range to 5-7M 15 is INSANE - Hack takes an extra .25 seconds to complete - increase range of being uncloaked next to someone to 5-6 M - Virus does only over time damage of 75 While it’s still a talentless character at least that way if you get caught lacking she had to be RIGHT next to you and also gets uncloaked once she’s in hack range. Which also allows her to be closer for that annoying fight after getting hacked upping your chances at least a little or allows a teammate to be able to have more time to help before she’s gone. Don’t know why she’s in the game to begin with and I’d nerf her more than this personally but to be somewhat fair so ppl don’t cry I’d be fine with this
They took away her invis she is no longer a stealth character you throw the cute to teleport away you get invis for 5 SECONDS and then your back to being a visible character it's really lame
I'm a Sombra main at low masters, I have to make no mistakes to make here work or not deleted instantly. Top Sombras almost never hack people because it takes too long to make it worth it.
As someone who used to play Sombra this is my overhaul I would make. 1. Hack is based on distance as in closer = faster hack, further distance = longer time to hack and overall decrease her hacking distance. (Backstab range like Spy from TF2 is almost instant hack). Healing a target or cleansing a target removes hack, half the amount of time hack last 2. No perma invis, being shot will take her out of it, her shooting will drop her out of it, make it 9 seconds long, cooldown 6 seconds and no hacking while invis. An alternative to the cooldown would be Spy from TF2 style where it's on a meter where you can pop in and out of invis. 3. Make her SMG have more spread but deal more dmg along with a slight reload time nerf 4. Cannot use the translacator while invis 5. Virus shot doesn't go off right away, it has to worm it's way onto the target as if it's trying to break through a back door and having it where hacking or dealing dmg to the target speeds up the progress to actually have the virus shot go off. Have it where it can infect other surrounding allies around said target that was hit with the virus BUT healing and or cleansing will remove the virus effect. The virus cannot spread multiple times from target to target and won't spread to multiple targets unless the dmg threshold is met and or if the target dies near teammates. The virus spread effect has 9 seconds otherwise it can't spread. Overall I think this idea is fair, get in, get out playstyle still with having it where you have to plan what targets you're picking off targets and being allowed to roam the backlines still has you being a threat along with making it where you can aggressively punish a team for leaving a back door open basically. If you want a fast hack and or fast take over on a target, you're going have to risk your biscuit.
I think changing virus to be like previous hack where the target takes additional damage when shot, removing/reducing its damage, and slightly nerfing her primary fire to account for the new damage would make it take more skill and make her more balanced between high and low ranks.
TL;DR: Thanks for finally going in depth about it and not just saying: "Ha Sombra sux." Word Vomit: As a self proclaimed Sombra main since starting this game. (Back in 2017 - before shit fell off.) I wanted to say that I'd love to play this version of Sombra that you proposed and it could be satisfying to play her again. Believe me, I understand the hate. There are some nasty sombras out there who just target supports and squishies and call it a day when there was so much more value to her as a character back in 1. I remember when a well placed hack could turn a fight around, but the key was you had to be SMART about it. Nowadays finding those cheap 1v1s feels like the only way to have an impact. I can promise that for as shit as she feels to be up against, it feels worse playing now more than ever. Especially with the slap in the face that IS virus, easy to hit but also easy to cleanse/combat with healing. Same goes for hacks. As a more team based supporter Sombra, I get NO value because most of the time: healers and supports are right around the corner ready to undo whatever I try and pull (and yeah, sure skill issue. Whatever but hear me out.) Going ONLY after the supports is just mean- and I'd rather give them a chance to play the game. I want a CHALLENGE, hence why I like this version so much. It would finally be satisfying to play her in team fights again and give me less reasons to consider the "dark side" and go for those cheap easy wins.
I wouldn't want this to be pushed to the live game immediately without testing, but I would be curious to see a rework like this: -Hack time decreased from 10 to 6 seconds -Hack no longer shuts down abilities -If a Hacked foe uses an ability, the cooldown will be up to 3 seconds longer (Scaling down with the hack time) -Virus no longer deals DoT -If a Virused foe uses an ability, they will take 60 instant damage, and +40 over the next 2 seconds Basically instead of being shut down/taking immediate burst damage, you now just need to determine if using your abilities is worth it, or if you should just wait out the hack/virus. In theory it should be less annoying for tanks, while still giving sombra a way to guide the pace of a fight Also maybe make Invis work like Samus' in Metroid Dread: a resource meter that only really goes down if you're moving, technically allowing for perma invis, but if it fully depletes it'll need to recharge fully before you can use it again
i think taking 100 damage for using an ability is kind of broken, because it prevents being able to escape without taking huge damage, It would be better if it was like 20 instant damage with 40 over 5 seconds, still somewhat lethal but not absurdly lethal and a long enough DoT to not be out healable
As an Overwatch 1 Sombra Main in 2017, yes, I can understand the annoyance of dealing her, for me, I like challenges, I use my abilities as an Offense-Support...but there is players that played Sombra very well but the enemy teams pressure her heavily like me, as a Sombra Main, to back off and retreat. Yes, I do target players, but specifically the one's that is a highest or a dangerous threat to my team like Widow, Tracer, D.va, and etc. *This is from my experiences as a Sombra Main to this day and still play her*
Surprisingly, I found that Lifeweaver is a great counter to Sombra. Not only can you pull people away from her once they were hit by virus and hack (the short invulnerability has saved my teammates so often from the virus damage), but he is astonishingly good at 1v1ing Sombra. The dash can make the virus miss if timed correctly and even if it doesnt it still heals some of the damage. The thorns do insane damage up close and he has a lot of HP. Finally, the platform is a really good way of getting away, even if only for a short time, to regenerate. If Sombra tries to get away by teleporting to high ground, the petal can also be used to chase after and punish her.
I agree with this video .cause i remember playing quick play with my friend and they didn't start out as sombra . Guess what went sombra cause they was getting curb stomped 😂😂😂 . .......and lord behold they started spawn camping me and killed me twice 😡😡😡😡😡 i got fed up with her shit and went torb and finally got out of spawn chased her or him off me and they still lost why my team was pushing the robot and we won 😂😂😂😂😂 Thats a win for me fuck there kill count .
TRUE I HATE SOMBRA every time I play support she just targets me and now every time I hear a sombra I act get PTSD and immediately turn around expecting to be hacked even when it's my own teamate sometimes
UNLESS you're bronze, silver and MAYBE plat, of course sombra is gonna sound OP... but in any other rank, sombra is so fucking weak. Yeah infinite invis sounds insane but, aside being able to get the "upper hand" what is sombra gonna do exactly while invis? she literally cant do anything while invis, and as soon as she steps out of invis, she has a voiceline that alerts the entire enemy team, and all shes got is a skill shot ability (virus) and petty damage to defend her self with. even translocator isnt a good "getaway" ability, hell it isnt even the best one in the game, and you wanna know why? because translocator has a trail effect that lets you know where sombra is gonna teleport to AND it doesnt make sombra invincible. Moria, reaper and kiriko have THE best getaway abilities in the game simply for just being able to be invincible and/or without any trail effects leading to where you are going. also dont get me wrong about infinite invis, i think its stupid that blizzard even made it infinite in the first place, its op in lower ranks and so useless in upper ranks
She can't do anything while invis? *Bruh she's invisible* Not to mention the increased movement speed. Translocator is far from bad since it has a short cooldown and *she turns invisible again* Maybe not OP but is easily the most annoying hero. (Also Reaper literally has to face the direction he's going and stand still for a few seconds)
Did you actually watch the video bruv. He specifically said she isn't OP, she's unfun to play against. If you enjoy being annoying that's fine but you don't need to write an essay to defend it lol.
Btw as someone who plays ashe, ashes dynamite has a neat thing where if you toss it forward and hold the fire you will automatically shoot it as soon as you are able to shoot. the only downside is that its not as far as you would probably like dynamite to be but if someone is attempting to mow you down its a good tool to abuse
2 alternatives- Option 1: when she hacks someone, they gain a debuff where if they use an ability within the next 8-10 seconds, then their cooldowns will take longer AND they get the 25% additional damage taken debuff. This allows patient players to avoid using their abilities in haste or use them quickly as an emergency knowing there will be a cooldown punishment. Option 2: when when being hacked, force the hackee to hold a button (reload button for example) and have a counter-hack begin. This will extend the duration it takes to hack someone from .65 seconds to up to 3 seconds. While this is happening it will give you a longer reaction time opening.
I play Sombra: And i hate spawn camping so much. If im DPS and i see a Sombra bothering someone, t bagging, etc. I change and ruin the game for her. Its my favorite passtime. If we cant have fun, neither can you. PS: I love the character and nice Sombra players btw
I think a good way to balance cloaks in video games is to have it only work on players that are kinda near your crosshair. That way you have to aim, and there’s more strategy involved in having to know who you can and can’t be seen by
To answer your question as to why I main Sombra: -I like the techy characters -I like the assassin archetype -The sneakiness and harrassment playstyle is something that meshes well with me -I like being able to gather intel and be useful to my team other than having to be snapped at aiming and getting kills -My favourite colour is purple, so the visual design is great Playing a character that gets you hated by the community is nothing new to me, I've done it before in other games (not intentionally in any of these cases) and I have a feeling it's gonna continue to happen in the future. Also, no, I refuse to take your advice. I will keep maining Sombra, even after her S13 rework
As someone who loved Sombra in OW1, I also hate Sombra in OW2. Back when she was intended to be an 'offensive support' character, she filled a niche role. Overwatch is mostly just different flavours of run-and-gun, so it was nice to have a weirdo option that didn't play like that. I get there's lots of hate for control roles, but no one else played like her. When they made her just another damage-focused hero, they removed all the control stuff that appealed to her niche and turned her into yet another flanker DPS. Bad for the people who liked her, bad for the people against her now.
I really like this video! The one note I have is that, while Virus in general is easier to hit and all that, it is a single target projectile/debuff, whereas Ashe's dynamite can hit multiple targets, albeit doing so takes more skill/set up. While Sombra is a bit of a mess, I feel like Virus is actually one of the more fair abilities in her kit.
As a Sombra main, the rework made her incredibly insufferably she became incredibly easy from it. You rarely saw Sombra’s before and there was way more skill expression. Also spawn camping was a thousand times harder and didn’t happen as much.
Basically a character that requires 0 positioning. Just watch and wait for the enemy to misposition. It's actually stupid and mostly only good against casual players. It's such bad game design
Rework idea for her hack: instead of just locking the target's abilities for a caouple seconds, it puts the target's abilities on their full cooldowns. Then, the cooldown of Sombra's hack is the total of the cooldowns she caused for the target. For example, Ana's abilities and their cooldowns are sleep dart at 14 seconds and antinade at 12 seconds. If Sombra hacks an Ana, then Sombra's cooldown for the hack is 12+14=26 seconds.
I main Sombra. 100% agree to get rid or change the virus ability, sometimes you don’t even have to finish the fight yourself you just let the virus do it. I think it would be neat if the virus ability will take away passive abilities for 2-3 seconds. To balance that. •her hack could take a full second to complete. •Maybe her SMG gives a little less damage because that damn thing melts. •or her locator will have a 2.5 second cooldown every time she reveals herself.
Great vid! I main Sombra on DPS, and I entirely understand why people hate her as a hero. I definitely think her invis being a passive ability is insanely powerful and should be reverted to the old manual invisibilty or something like it. As for virus, I think it needs changes but not necessarily be removed entirely. Maybe instead of dealing more initial/burst damage on a hacked target, the DOT lasts longer instead? idk, I'm not a game dev, so I'm not sure if this would make it more bearable or not.
Subscribe if Sombra belongs in a glue trap :/
It hurts most being a hanzo main because our boy has received nothing but nerfs. But hanzo was always good against sombra at least. Until, the rework. And now she can win the 1v1 easily. In fact there's few characters she can't 1v1easily now.

Her stealth used to be on a timer, which encourages her to be careful as it can run out. Also, she has to either burn stealth to get to the back line or sneak her way there and hope the enemy team doesn’t drop her

Literally EMP as an ult should be the ONLY ability that disables other abilities. It should be that impactful but it seems like they would rather make her entire kit annoying rather than useful for your team.
@@benlink202forever I agree with that
Just turn her into a short ranged melee character where you need to stuck up a pendrive on someone's ass to hack them
Don't forget Invisible gives her Soldier's Run Ability.
She does have 3 abilities???

Yeah I noticed widow players always swap to sombra. It’s like they are bots or something.
If I'm playing Widow and it's not working, I swap to anyone else but Sombra:
- If I still want to play a sniper character, I'll go Hanzo or Ashe.
I’d leave sombra’s abilities how they are, but she takes 80% more damage when not invisible

Bro you get paused for like 1 second 😭 I love seeing the copium in these comments

She needs to uninvis before any attack.
And you should be able to hack enemy Sombra's to turn off their locator. So you can actually kill them
And taking away Junkrat's One hit when it required an ability and aim is so dumb because they just have Hanzo one hit with a normal arrow
Virus is a very questionable choice especially with how much damage it does. Most of the changes tho i liked, ESPECIALLY TRANSLATOR, as now it feels like sombra finally requires at lease A brain cell to play her
They should just bring back overwatch 1 sombra
@@blackjesus947Translocator does not require a brain cell or at least not to be able to throw at a wall but it's stupid how instant it is to teleport like that, ventures dig and Mei ice is such a stupid abilities to save themselves in general. Though for Sombra it shouldn't be instant like maybe a delay before it teleports so you can still hit her or throwing it and having to press it again to teleport would be nice.
As a tank player that was popping off, I know my life will turn around once a dps swaps to her.
How nice if them to remind me my place in the game 😢
Humble 🤣 I like it, swap to deva and then smash her once she shows herself a little to close and save your booster for once she throws. It’s easy and they quickly change once you shut them down once or twice
*pats your shoulder* i know the pain
Make her respawn time 2 minutes. It should take her 30 seconds to be able to hack. She can remain invisible, but make her constantly mutter spanish loudly wherever she goes. Make her translocator faulty so sometimes she throws it but it doesn't actually translocate her. Make her lose SR even if she wins matches. This... will be the best sombra rework
LMAO make her constantly blabber 😭😭

I keep saying we need an invisible support just to annoy her. Have them be the tech support that removes all her abilities lmao.
I mained Sombra from the start, timed invis and tp era, not from her OW2 rework version 3 (adding virus). She used to be difficult to play. Now it's just toddler levels
1000% I really miss when she was skillful. She's pretty boring to play now compared to before
gotta sell skins in bronze
i thought sombra was dead easy to play back then when you could place your translo somewhere safe
@TheMCmace he's talking about when she first came out all of her abilities had timers and cool downs
I honestly hate sombra to a personal level, if someone is playing sombra i immediately switch and focus on nothing but invalidating sombra. I will literally just stay close to the more vulnerable heroes scanning the area and if she pops up ill run at her like a rabid dog
As sombra main, the rework fucked the character so bad
It was so much easier to counter her on OW1, instead of nerfing her they buffed her
Here's the quick version:
Sombra has a low skill ceiling but provides high results and has no efdective counter.
As a Sombra main, hating Sombra was truly a skill issue UNTIL the virus rework. That rework removed 80% of her skill expression while leaning into all the most frustrating aspects to play against.
I also really miss being solo ulted when using TP
I just miss finding a Sombra knowing she' can't escape
my favorite moments as old sombra, was noticing the 76 or mcree had found my TP, and jumping them while they were waiting to jump me.

As a Zen/Doom main, I wholeheartedly agree with all this, have my like and sub 🙏

She’s not broken but dear gawd is she annoying
I hope you don't think counter picking is only for tanks...
@@theycallmeklutchkid if it were I wouldn’t have swapped.

Most good sombras will virus then hack or just virus and shoot, if any hacks first, they're pretty stupid and literally tells you where they are and if you're really good, just snipe them in the face there
Not saying she isn't strong, but she can definitely be dealt with even as a widow, just have a good team comp, tag her before she hacks and it cancels it
i personally think that sombra's hack ability should be removed entirely because being able to disable anyones abilities on a 7 sec cooldown seems too overpowered. Of course you should keep her ult, because that takes some level of planning
Bro hacking is her whole thing. Also it’s one second. I main sombra and she is annoying, but I think her play style is fun.
@@SSoodaPoP i'm not saying get rid of the entire hacking theme in general, keep her ult for that exact reason.
look at KAY/O from VALORANT, his ult disables your abilities instead of having a buyable ability that does the same thing, even if it has a shorter duration. (not saying that OW2 and VALORANT have the same balancing though)
1 second of being hacked basically immobilizes the said target (for non mobility heroes) and add the fact that you take more damage while hacked makes a perfect scenario of hella annoying mayhem that you just have to live with or just don't play the game. i play tank occassionally, and have had many scenarios of going from 700 hp, to 0 hp in 2 seconds, all cuz of being hacked :/
The real reason everybody hates Sombra is due to the type of person that chooses to pick a character who is so OP. A truly toxic and low skilled individual typically.

Great editing, Sombra should have to complete the daily wordle to hack people

The "joke" is, I miss it when you actually had to know maps/information/temp comp because the Camo and TL had a timer so you couldn't just afk 100% like she came these days.
I absolutely adore the unadulterated rage directed at sombra you express in this video
as a sombra main, i can confidently say that ALL of you are to blame for the way sombra is now. We WARNED you that she would feel 10x worse to play against after her rework, but yall just had to keep complaining about hack. Now instead of being locked out of your abilities for 1.5 seconds, youre locked out of your abilities for 10 seconds and have to walk back from spawn
So… complaining about hack led it to getting buffed? How’s that logic working for you?
@@FenekkuKitsune the point of the rework was to de-incentivize sombra from hacking by:
1. nerfing the cooldown from 4 to 6
2. making it so that she’s pulled out of stealth when she uses it
3. removing the damage buff it gave to sombra
4. adding virus as an offensive ability for engaging when coming out of stealth
People cried because of hack’s “oppressiveness” which led to it getting nerfed except the only reason you play sombra is FOR hack so they added virus to compensate for weaker hack, making her more lethal.
And I don't think moira beam will work, it needs to be a skill shot, it can have some forgiveness where if it misses it refunds half the cd back but its cc at the end of the day and on a dps as well, which they said theyd remove all cc from the dps role only to leave the automated dps cc ability 😂
sombra main as well, i hate the auto invis combine hack and virus again, increase hack duration
Maybe they also just added that. People can move out of the hack pretty easily...though those targets tend to already be in motion. Maybe just increase time needed to hack. Today she feels balanced.
as a sombra main torb is actually really tough to go against mostly because of his turret, because like you mentioned in the video the average human reaction speed isn't fast enough to hit sombra before she gets off hack, the turret does not have this issue. even if I decided to engage without hack the turret would still be an extra source of damage making winning duels harder, so it forces me to deal with turret first which could make me miss out on opportunities that could've been capitalized on had it not been there
I'm also a sliver player so maybe I'm just bad idk
The new patch notes just dropped, and they did EVERYTHING you suggested in this video! You are a wizard my friend.
*a bad sombra is a minor inconvenience, dodge the virus, shoot her in the face, I can even do it with kiriko without cleansing myself*
*3 weeks later* They gutted her.

Ok you literally picked every hated character and then are complaining people hated you???
Play games for your own enjoyment and don’t let people ruin your mood.
(And Mei too, truly miss her old playstyle, now she's just a Zarya with slow attached to her beam)
Btw you forgot to mention Sombra's secret passive taunt, where, if you dare play Sombra, the entire enemy team will priorize chasing you, killing you, teabagging you and shit talk in all chat, even if that costs then the game
All of that but in the end still unfun to fight

Love the videos fam~ Glad to see you're knocking it out!
Thank you!
nice vid grandpa

@@shaheedroylance explain what? The inability for you to understand that OW is a team game? And that certain comps COUNTER other comps? That’s the reality of the game. If not, keep whining and stay hardstuck. Also brig doesn’t just counter 2 dive heroes. She counters nearly every single one. That’s why she’s the anti dive support???
this is my idea for a sombra rework
L shift: stealth
- now 100% movement speed bonus
- enemies can now see you from 10m rather than 4m and the audio cue is significantly louder when you're revealed
-Stealth is now on a resource meter
Right click: hack
-distance shortened from 15m to 10m
-hack takes longer to cast
-is no longer interruptible with basic damage -no longer locks on but is a meter you build by tracking the target while holding right click. After a successful hack it does the same amount of damage that a hack+virus does now but no longer has an ability lockout and no longer does DOT
E: translocator
-you now get a percentage of your stealth resource back after using TP
Q:EMP
-size of AOE decreased
-quicker ult charge
-less health taken
-hack becomes twice as fast to cast on EMP'd targets
15:17 800 ms is perfect for me to react and put a bullet through sombra’s head with Widowmaker without getting hacked even if I already can done that
I’ve only played the game for a month but I’ve been putting in a lot of hours. I don’t understand how infinite invis has been a thing for this long or how people have just dealt with it, and as an Ashe main I’m glad you brought up the dynamite point it’s ridiculous the value she can get with no effort.
To me it’s simple
- Some kind of cool down on invis
- Decrease hack range to 5-7M 15 is INSANE
- Hack takes an extra .25 seconds to complete
- increase range of being uncloaked next to someone to 5-6 M
- Virus does only over time damage of 75
While it’s still a talentless character at least that way if you get caught lacking she had to be RIGHT next to you and also gets uncloaked once she’s in hack range. Which also allows her to be closer for that annoying fight after getting hacked upping your chances at least a little or allows a teammate to be able to have more time to help before she’s gone. Don’t know why she’s in the game to begin with and I’d nerf her more than this personally but to be somewhat fair so ppl don’t cry I’d be fine with this
I just play sombra cus she's hot :(
The only acceptable reason
Get yo head at yo ass
Slay star🤤🤤🤤
Based, she is the best girl
kinda valid, but Ashe, Widow, Tracer, and Pharah are RIGHT there. hotter AND less annoying

Healing a target or cleansing a target removes hack, half the amount of time hack last
2. No perma invis, being shot will take her out of it, her shooting will drop her out of it, make it 9 seconds long, cooldown 6 seconds and no hacking while invis. An alternative to the cooldown would be Spy from TF2 style where it's on a meter where you can pop in and out of invis.
3. Make her SMG have more spread but deal more dmg along with a slight reload time nerf
4. Cannot use the translacator while invis
TL;DR: Thanks for finally going in depth about it and not just saying: "Ha Sombra sux."
Word Vomit: As a self proclaimed Sombra main since starting this game.
I wouldn't want this to be pushed to the live game immediately without testing, but I would be curious to see a rework like this:
-Hack time decreased from 10 to 6 seconds
-Hack no longer shuts down abilities
-If a Hacked foe uses an ability, the cooldown will be up to 3 seconds longer (Scaling down with the hack time)
-Virus no longer deals DoT
-If a Virused foe uses an ability, they will take 60 instant damage, and +40 over the next 2 seconds
Basically instead of being shut down/taking immediate burst damage, you now just need to determine if using your abilities is worth it, or if you should just wait out the hack/virus. In theory it should be less annoying for tanks, while still giving sombra a way to guide the pace of a fight
Also maybe make Invis work like Samus' in Metroid Dread: a resource meter that only really goes down if you're moving, technically allowing for perma invis, but if it fully depletes it'll need to recharge fully before you can use it again
i think taking 100 damage for using an ability is kind of broken, because it prevents being able to escape without taking huge damage, It would be better if it was like 20 instant damage with 40 over 5 seconds, still somewhat lethal but not absurdly lethal and a long enough DoT to not be out healable
Sombras hack is fundamentally broken BECAUSE SOME OF THE ABILITIES SHOULDNT EVEN GET HACKED
Also its predatory
hacking an old mans legs, a cowboys eyes, and a cowgirl from pulling out a shotgun is crazy
*This is from my experiences as a Sombra Main to this day and still play her*
This made me want to play Sombra
The amount of the times I’ve swapped kiriko to help my teammate just to get targeted myself
TRUE I HATE SOMBRA every time I play support she just targets me and now every time I hear a sombra I act get PTSD and immediately turn around expecting to be hacked even when it's my own teamate sometimes
Watching this after the nerf
He literally said in the video that the hatred from the character doesn’t come from her being OP, it comes from her being annoying
She can't do anything while invis? *Bruh she's invisible*
Not to mention the increased movement speed. Translocator is far from bad since it has a short cooldown and *she turns invisible again*
Maybe not OP but is easily the most annoying hero. (Also Reaper literally has to face the direction he's going and stand still for a few seconds)
Did you actually watch the video bruv. He specifically said she isn't OP, she's unfun to play against. If you enjoy being annoying that's fine but you don't need to write an essay to defend it lol.
It's not about being OP it's about being extremely annoying to play against, even when shes having 0 impact
Yapyapyapyapyap all you do is yap and yet miss the point.
I love sombra but not as much as i want you ( i am madly in love with you)
I’m blushing

2 alternatives-
Option 1: when she hacks someone, they gain a debuff where if they use an ability within the next 8-10 seconds, then their cooldowns will take longer AND they get the 25% additional damage taken debuff.
I'm a Sombra one-trick, and I love the tears of other players. Their hatred only makes me stronger. BOOP
I play Sombra: And i hate spawn camping so much. If im DPS and i see a Sombra bothering someone, t bagging, etc. I change and ruin the game for her. Its my favorite passtime. If we cant have fun, neither can you.

Same here 😂
I love sombra’s…. Character but absolutely hate her gameplay. I usually just stand afk when someone on the other team swaps to her.
I think a good way to balance cloaks in video games is to have it only work on players that are kinda near your crosshair. That way you have to aim, and there’s more strategy involved in having to know who you can and can’t be seen by
She is as bad as counterwatch tbh

To answer your question as to why I main Sombra:
-I like the techy characters
-I like the assassin archetype
-The sneakiness and harrassment playstyle is something that meshes well with me
-I like being able to gather intel and be useful to my team other than having to be snapped at aiming and getting kills
-My favourite colour is purple, so the visual design is great
Playing a character that gets you hated by the community is nothing new to me, I've done it before in other games (not intentionally in any of these cases) and I have a feeling it's gonna continue to happen in the future. Also, no, I refuse to take your advice. I will keep maining Sombra, even after her S13 rework
as your favorite sombra player i take slight offense to this video
You are the only exception Lofi ❤️
As someone who loved Sombra in OW1, I also hate Sombra in OW2. Back when she was intended to be an 'offensive support' character, she filled a niche role. Overwatch is mostly just different flavours of run-and-gun, so it was nice to have a weirdo option that didn't play like that. I get there's lots of hate for control roles, but no one else played like her.
When they made her just another damage-focused hero, they removed all the control stuff that appealed to her niche and turned her into yet another flanker DPS. Bad for the people who liked her, bad for the people against her now.
I love her c:

I've mained Sombra since the day one when she had timers on everything and barely anyone was playing her. I have no regrets.
As a Sombre main, I just want to say one thing.
Tee hee
I main Sombra.
100% agree to get rid or change the virus ability, sometimes you don’t even have to finish the fight yourself you just let the virus do it.
I think it would be neat if the virus ability will take away passive abilities for 2-3 seconds.
To balance that.
•her hack could take a full second to complete.
•Maybe her SMG gives a little less damage because that damn thing melts.
•or her locator will have a 2.5 second cooldown every time she reveals herself.
Fighting sombra is like accepting a free trial of sigma's mind
sombra is like the evil version of harry potter. He would be taking the invisible cloak and his master wand and going around town slaughtering people
The golden freddy jumpscare at 5:25 made me chuckle
