    Another tip for those struggling to gear up, once you have fully augmented iron gear I advise to save about 100k gil so that when you hit lvl60+ you can purchase gear from the market board at a really low price. For example I remember buying a SAM armor piece at item level 265 and it only cost 10k gil, with 100k gil you should easily be able to buy a full set of 265 gear including earings etc and basically set you up for the lvl70 grind. Saves all the tomestone grinding since you get the gil from doing MSQ.

    Love the content. I'm semi-new and completed Shadow bringers a while ago as a BLM and started leveling a paladin once I got through patch content. It can be a little tiring if you're doing roulettes every day, yeah - I can generally manage a few bursts of it but that's about it. At least the Wondrous Tails now gives you a huge amount of exp for handing in all 9 seals! I'm close to having every job at 80 now haha

    Nice although I will always recommend upgrading armor from 65+ due to Stormblood having a more unforgiving damage increase in dungeons compared to HW. A HQ 64 is minuscule better for example so in case you are still missing some tome gear stock up with these.
    Obviously I speak to people that are progressing story/running msq dungeons because for example having a tank with shire gear at lv69 can be awful for healers . Always check MB if people sell for low pieces.

      Augmented gear generally works like this
      Helmet of Sweet Horns: Item level 500
      Augmented Helmet of Sweet Horns: Item Level 510 + Can be dyed.
      I'd say that's the easiest way to explain augmented ones! You spend something to upgrade them so they can be dyed, and have a bit more ilvl/stats

    *burnout brain noise
    So, essentially run dungeons and raids, hope RNGesus favors you and gives you gear you need, and just repeat?
    Being able to use Poetics to help catch up and buy gear is handy, but also kinda blind-sights you to how endgame wants you to do stuff i feel.
    Like i recently got to lv 80, and the MSQ hard stops cause it wants me to be at higher level gear, and aside from market board, i don't know what it expects me to do.

    New to the game. I would consider myself early game as I am only level 21. I typically avoid buying gear unless its a better weapon only. Your advice was very helpful, except I was confused about the dungeons. What exactly are dungeon runs and how good can they be for early game players? I May have done one but I feel like there is so much to this game I have yet to learn I feel like I have not done a dungeon yet. If someone can explain a little bit more about dungeons and where/how to do them. Thanks.

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  3 роки тому

      If you are new, you don't need to worry about it too much, but once you get a little way into the game (I think after you beat the first two dungeons?) you'll unlock the duty roulette dungeon finder. Doing this once a day gets you bonus EXP and stuff. It can be worth doing as it's a LOT of exp, especially at lower levels.
      For the most part though, just focus on going through the MSQ and that should get you everything you need that's important. Dungeons are fairly frequent in the story. And the dungeon roulette/duty finder will just ensure that you have access to gear more frequently as you so desire.

    As a new player the thing that confuses me is that, on guides, when people say stuff like, you can buy/gain access to that at level 45 for example, they don’t actually mean 45, they mean when your questing level hits 45, is that right? Atm I am WAY out levelling the content due to rested xp and the bonus on my server or whatever it’s called… my questing level is around 30 but my actual level is 45, so I still have to wait for the good gear right?

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  2 роки тому

      Yeah, most of these things are tied behind story factors - although if I'm not mistaken (it has been a long time) I think you have your class jobs which unlock on those levels, irrespective of where you are in the main story.
      Like if you're on the level 20 MSQ but hit level 40, you should be able to do your level 40 job quest, assuming you've done the ones that lead up to it. And then obvious exceptions if your level 60 job quest takes place in an an area you can't reach yet because it is locked behind MSQ etc

    Very good guide. I've been playing the game very casually for a few years, and this laid it out well for me. One question I've always had is where do I find old gear for transmog? Or glamour I mean. I want to look cool. Is it found by simply running through old content?

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  3 роки тому +5

      So, if you're level 80 you'll be able to "unsync" old content, that is to say, you go in at level 80, and you can annihilate enemies so you can obtain drops from them. Of course, it depends on what item you are looking for. Dungeon gear can usually be obtained easily enough - if you're 80, then 50/60 dungeons will be a breeze, and you might be able to manage some 70 dungeons by yourself or with a buddy.
      In a nutshell: Find the item you want -> look up where it drops -> solo that content (or maybe get a group if it's something that can't be solo'd) and then put it in your glamour box using a prism etc.

    this might sound like a stupid question. but im gonna be starting the game in another month. will the story gear get me to where i need to get through in order to reach level cap or do i have to do all the raids and such as well in order to progress through the game to level cap? I want to enjoy the game but also make it to end game as soon as possible as a warrior tank. should i worry about all the other raids and such or should i just play the story to level cap and then start worrying about rading and such? ive played things like wow and ESO but you couldnt do raids and such until you had reached level cap and had certain gear. is that the same with ff 14 or do you have to go through everything to progress to end game like raids and such?

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  7 місяців тому +1

      So, just playing the story should more or less give you everything you need. At level 50/60/70/80 and so on, or around there, you'll get class armour sets. And just playing through the MSQ will give you gear upgrades too. In addition to that, if you get any tomestones, you can use those to buy better "endgame" gear as well. So probably hold on to those until you hit max level

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  3 роки тому

      I wouldn't say it's a problem, frankly. I mean, if you were somehow in level 80 content using shire gear, yeah that might be a problem (but also virtually impossible to actually do) The shire gear will last you until 70 where you can replace it - and if you get any replacements in the mean time in dungeons, that helps all the more.
      If you're in a level 67-70 dungeon, you would have to probably pull one group at a time instead of multiple ones, because the healer might not be able to keep you alive otherwise.

      The botanist, a gathering job, I suppose? For combat, you'll need to wait for Reaper, with Endwalker. For the time being, there are various scythe glamours for like BLM and DRG I think? But they are cash shop items these days I think

    So is this game still really active? I've been considering picking it up, but whenever I pick up online, mmo-like games, I usually end up picking em up at the end of its online "lifespan".

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  3 роки тому

      I don't know the behind-the-scenes numbers, but as far as I'm aware, XIV has been on an incline for several years now, and Shadowbringers was really popular amongst players and reviewers both.
      That, and I can tell you that my server at least is absolutely packed, there's usually a 15-20 person q to log-in whenever I do (which thankfully just takes a few seconds)

      It’s really alive and booming man the problem you’ll get is that the massive amount of story ahead of you before catching up to the current expansion. I’m literally talking about 100+ hours and I’m not even exaggerating, burnout is your enemy.

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  3 роки тому +1

      It's worth getting 50 / 60 / 70 etc, you can generally skip the levels in-between if you want to. Just make sure you're getting the high ilvl stuff, like Ironworks at 50. The difference between minimum and maximum ilvl can be tens of thousands of HP

    • @SilverMont

      Are you going through the story? Because you might end up lacking stats and ilvl for story fights. Generally I'd say it's good to swap every 10 levels because of the huge ilvl gaps, and poetics are handed out like candy!

    Man, I wish MMOs would tone down their HUD. Too much clutter...

    • @SilverMont
      @SilverMont  3 роки тому +3

      XIV's hud is quite customisable, so you could probably make a "minimalistic" version if you wanted. Hell, I think you can even turn the HUD off entirely and still use hotkeys.

    • @saintjynr
      @saintjynr 3 роки тому

      To be fair, while I dont know about outher MMOs, you dont _actually_ have to have all that stuff on screen all times. Like, the things that I actually look at my hud are the skill hotbar at the bottom of the screen with the boss health/cast bars directly above them, and the party list on the top left IF I need to interact with other players (e.g. I need to heal them). So while I have other things on, like a minimalist inventory on the corner, minimap, quest list, enemy list, 80% of the time I'm looking at two specific zones of the screen, ao in practice the screen doesnt actually feel cluttered
      And besides that, you can actually turn off all that stuff, its just on for convenience
