Actually, they did. In August 1974 Ike & Tina Turner released "SEXY IDA"! It peaked and charted #59 in the UK. Charted at #29 on Billboard's Soul 100. Charted #65 on Billboard's Hot 100. And charted #19 on Jet Magazine's Top 20. "SEXY IDA (Pt. 2) had also hit the charts reaching #85!
@@raphaelsiasjr5810 That’s still not a major hit. “Nutbush City Limits” which peaked at No. 11 on Billboard Hot Soul Singles, No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100, and No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart.
@@Dino-su2wh “pretty close”…. Yes she most definitely is. I love Tina to the max but Beyoncé is quite the performer and if you say she is not….. you definitely a hater
@@sdonald83 - Smd. No one comes close to Tina. Not even Beyonce. If it weren't for Tina Turner, Beyonce wouldn't be where she is, copying Tuner's movies.

Called the Ike and Tina Turner Explosion and it sure was. Ike and Tina stated with Your still my Baby as a balled! Then followed the hits sounding all very fierce.
THIS IS REALLY A HOT VERISON OF 'DELILAH'S POWER ' , IT SHOULD HAVE CHARTED HIGHER ON THE CHARTS AND GOT AIRPLAY BACK IN 75" LOVE THAT IKE & TINA EVERYBODY
The Ikettes line up are: (L to R) Esther Jones, Marcie Thomas, and Lejeune Richardson. Does any body recognizes Marcie is now Lyrica Garrette on VHI' s Love and Hip Hop!!!
The tall light skinned guitarist is Warren Dawson. He was also Ike & Tina's Bassist from 1970 to 1974 before switching to guitar. He obviously traded in his glasses for some contacts! Lol
Maurice Heerdink Hey man no biggie, at least you got to see them live! My dad said he saw them when they performed at his college back in 1971, and he said they put on a hell of a show.
Maurice Heerdink I admire the fact that you continue to see them after their split and even seen Ike Turner perform. A lot of people hated him after watching that movie which didn’t tell the full actuate story on the duo.
I've read that Ike's drug use got so heavy toward the end of their marriage that he sometimes couldn't make their scheduled tv appearances. This seems to be one of those occasions.
@newstarter11 Yep, looks like it. Ominous that Ike isn't actually anywhere to be seen- highly unusual. Perhaps they had a big row before the performance was to start. Very sad- Tina was a saint to put up with that animal for as long as she did
Brown Royal yes #Lejune and the one furthest, #EstherJones were the best #Ikettes, they actually kept up with #Tina's stage engery and #Ike's "stage delivery" ...#RIPEstherJones
Did you see them in 1975 of 1976? Tina walked out in July 1976. I'd love to know more about the show you saw! I know it's been decades, but this is my FAVORITE era of Tina's. OMG!!
Dick Van Dyke clowning while Ike and Tina Turner band performing was rude and disrespectful - NOT funny at all. They would NOT do that if Dick Van Dyke was performing.
Ike & Tina didn’t have any major hits after “Nutbush City Limits” in 1973, but they still put on a hell of show with these high energy songs.

Yes, I read somewhere Marcy Thomas and Lyrica Garett are the same person.
One of my all time favorite clips
TINA AND THE IKETTES ARE ON FIRE!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I've been curious about what he's been doing since Ike and Tina. I can't find no information.
@@true1evanique I was wondering the same thing.
i've never seen this, wow, they sure did move all over, tina is pure energy
This was the last song she wrote before her divorce from Ike. I bought the 45 but it was hard to find when it came out. It never got any air play.
2:51 I love how she hits that note
Just proves Tina never needed Ike. He needed her!
Love you tina
Thank you its fantastic

At 2:24 is when she realized she was officially done with Ike ass lmao
Most likely Ike was too high to perform. This happened repeatedly toward the end of the marriage.

dick v dyke is awesome , still today
Where is Ike?
Is that a bruise on her shoulder?
No, it's her birthmark. Specifically it's a port-wine stain. She used to cover it up most of the time but it can sometimes be seen prominently.
She's got a black eye here, under her left eye if you look close.
I agree with Tina most of the songs that Ike forced her to sing was absolutely horrible!
yeah, and you noticed that she never sung any of these songs once she left! like sexy Ida and this one also.
which songs? i liked proud mary
I actually thought Tina wrote this song. I'm not sure if Ike had much to do with it.
