Man!! its about midnight, can't thank you enough, been looking for this solution for a while. Have to present it tomorrow early morning. Thank you so much for making this video!!
Hi Suyog. I have understood the concept which you have very explained very well. But when trying to plot, I am not getting the Compute Using function - as shown at time stamp 6.38 in the video. I have moved the Measures to the Column & Row and also the Dimension to the Details Marks. One difference I can see is that the delta symbol next to the measures in the shelf does not appear in my worksheet. Appreciate your help. PS: I am very new user and quite sure I am missing something simple. Vijai
I might be able to explain. The example uses '% proficiency' which is itself a table calculation. If the rate you are trying to visualize is already a table calc. when you bring inthe x and y fields they will default to that table calc. I am not sure how to adjust the process if the rate being visualized is not already a table calc. I commented with that quesiton as well, hopefully it gets answered
Great video. Speedometer charts are one of the most requested charts for me that are not out of box in Tableau. On that note, could you do Donut Charts next, Suyog? Those are often requested too.... I've seen other videos but like yours as easier for me to follow.
Does the process change if the rate being visualized is not a window calculation? In your example you're using % Proficiency which is already a table calc. What needs to change in order to use a rate calculation that is not a table calculation?
when i use this formula IIF(ATTR([Tools])=[Select a Tool to know proficiency], 1 + SQRT(2) * COS((1-[Proficiency%])*180 * PI() / 180),1) i m getting reference to undefined feild (on select a tool to know proficiency) help
@@suyogmorecoolable I also tried this and getting an error but I do not have a 'Tools' option when I create the parameter, is this a different step that has to be completed?
Hi Suyog, thank you very much. Is that possible to add a date parameter on top of this ? Thanks Also I'm trying to figure out how to hide the labels on the original point? Thank you
Very well explained.. Can also help in doing the same for monthly sales target achieved and over achieved scenario. I only have two variables month and sales
Just one doubt , we have an image of a typical speedometer of where the 100 % corresponds to approx 225 degrees and 0 % to approx -45 degrees or315 degrees , can you please let me know if this is possible and the formulae to do this
I am not able to display the mark label for only 100%. Do you know why? Everything else is showing up correctly. Please help when you can .. thank you.
One last question! When i follow your steps, I get a line that extends beyond the range of the Axis. For example, my x value might be over 5.0 if % Proficiency is in the 80% range. How do you get your line to stop at 2.5 when the actual value is greater?
Super helpful!!! Thank you so much..!! However, is it possible if I only want to label the proficiency on top? I don't want anything in the middle of the gauge.. Help please!!!
Hello Salma, Thanks for the feedback. You will get answer to your question if you re watch the video from 13.35. There on labels I edited to have all Tools, Proficiency and Proficiency% but you can keep only Proficiency. Just re watch the video from 13 min, 35 sec. Let me know if you still have any question. Thanks, Suyog
Hi Manoj, Can you re-watch the video from 6.25 to 7. You might have missed to change the X & Y calculations to compute using tools and not table across. Let me know if this helps.
@@suyogmorecoolable Hey Suyog! I am trying to replicate your process in a newer version of tableau and table calculations now have many more options. Can you tell me what kind of table calculation is being used here? the default option seems to be 'difference'. Is that what you're using here? Also, in my columns and rows, both X and Y with parameters are being shown as 'AGG(X With Parameters)'. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the great video!
What if I don't want to use a parameter and need to use the entire dataset. If I don't add the iif parameter, I just get a dot. How can I get a line? thx
Hi buddy. When I am trying to create X and Y dimensions, there is an error on IIF statement that "cannot mix aggregate and non-aggregate functions". Can you provide any explanation on this?
Hello Kartik, Please make sure your X and Y calculated fields are measures and not dimensions. Dimensions can not be aggregated, that is why you are getting that error. Please change X and Y back to measures and try. Let me know if this helps.

Hey Abdul, so glad to hear that it helped.
super video, excellent explanation and definitely enhanced version
Thanks Girish for the feedback. I am glad to hear that you find this video helpful.
Wow. This is very insightful video. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for feedback Andrew.
When I add X and Y values, I am getting a single point that is not splitting into two points to create a line.
Anything that I am missing
Same here
