Kelsey, two things I want you to remember: 1) you are under no obligation whatsoever to maintain a particular level of video production. 2) you don’t owe anyone an apology for anything. All of us out here in YT-land are here to enjoy your journey, period. Live your life, and if that allows for the sharing of your adventures, we’ll be right here ready to enjoy them. The only one feeling a sense of obligation is you….. so stop that, okay? :-)
This needs to be said more!! I see this with a lot of folks on YT. They seem to set a schedule which gives the algorithm what it wants, then burn out. Whatever we get, is great from anyone! Anyone who complains or mentions anything like “where was this weeks video” or stuff like that needs to pipe down!
I thought I just missed the video he told us. Then I had the thought - Are you even a pilot if you don’t say, ‘BTW, I’m a Captain now!’ … ‘Did you notice my epaulettes?’ … ‘Hey! Where’d all those bars come from?’ 😂🤣
90% of the comments in the last 3 video was just "congrats on the strips captain". And i will be one of those until we get at least a "Hello 74 crew, My name is Kelsey i'm a 747 CAPTAIN."
@@camperchris6639 very true…. But it is funny with UA-cam subscriber communities… if they’re healthy…. We just want to share in the joy and success of the content creators. That’s all. 😊. Happy New Year!
The modesty of not even mentioning making it to 747 captain but just showing up with four bars on your shoulders is not a failure. Just shows what a class act you are and brings even more integrity to the wealth of experience and insight you keep bringing to what has become a huge fan club. Big congratulations. Very well deserved. From a retired TWA pilot (never made it to the 747 though).
@@aussiemozzie107 Your dad is a great captain. As good as they come. I bet he's a pleasure to fly with. There are all kinds as I'm sure you know but it got a lot better with the crew resource management system implemented. In the old days the captain was the boss. End of discussion. So first officers and flight engineers were basically afraid to speak up even if they saw something obvious the captain was doing wrong.
Social media junkie? Isn’t that the algorithms intent on the audiences? Authenticity doesn’t sell. Dreams sell. One million plus subscribers are seeking the dream. They want reality TV.
Yes, he succeeded in his day job, and he didn't fail in his second job, he just didn't do as well as he wanted. Less than an hour since the video premiered, and he has over 3.2K likes. Most channels would love to have that ❤.
Long story short. He’s now a Captain which means more responsibilities and having to dedicate more time to the company. Quite understandable. Good luck Kelsey !
Well he kinda did but he is recognizing his failure and is going to imrpove it going forward. I get nervous when I see these pilots post so many youtube videos and makes me wonder if there mind is really on flying or more focused on the right camera angle like he mentioned. I would rather have a pilot be 100% focused on flying instead of 90% focused and the other 10% they are filming. He recongized that he is getting burnt out from doing both and knows he needs to scale it back. Pilots are more prone to error from being fatigue and he was on the fast track of going to work being fatigue. Pilots and doctors are the two carrerrs where you cannot afford to make mistakes.
Oh, Kelsey, my friend, you have not failed us! You have been a constant and reliable source of informative, entertaining, and often humorous aviation content. 1.14 million subscribers, over 40,000 views and 1000 comments in the first two hours on this video alone. That cannot be failure by any measure! And you earned that fourth bar, captain. Clearly, UA-cam is not the only thing you are doing right. So you missed a goal or two, so what? Even NBA stars don’t swish the net 100% of the time. So, yeah, slow down a bit and take time to smell the roses. But never think you have failed. The rest of us think you are amazing. “A man’s reach should exceed his grasp, else what use are dreams?”
Massive difference between failure and rethinking a goal or two due to changing needs and priorities. The success of your channel is incredible, but you need to invest time in you as well. A home base and securing your layovers for yourself in order to actually *enjoy* and *experience* your life is super important. Never apologise for doing what's important to you.
Agreed! And, please, take good care of yourself. Investing in your personal comfort & stability/happiness is super important -- don't sell yourself short!
Congrats on making Captain. As a retired 747 Captain myself, I am very pleased with the career I had. Now that I am retired, I am enjoying it more than I thought I would. Pace yourself, enjoy the journey and take care of yourself so you can maximize your retirement years. The enjoyment of flight eventually ends with the reward of the enjoyment of retirement, and health is an enormous factor when that happens.
Thanks captain for your wise advice. Our 7th is an FO at United. He’s on the 787- so excited to be doing what he loves 😜. But yes, pacing oneself and getting good balance is crucial for a successful career.
Look, if "adding value" makes you happy, go for it. But what WE want is you sharing whatever you find interesting or exciting. We're here for your personality and perspective. So don't stress it! Do what satisfies you, share whatever you feel like sharing, and that's all we want. For example, I liked the layover blog, but I thought that was because it was fun for you to share it with us. If it's not, don't do it. You don't owe us anything. Good luck with your ventures! Happy New Year!
No one has commented on this? Thank you for donating ❤ I totally agree: he should move at his own pace and produce a quality video instead of pumping out video after video. He has a very healthy lifestyle so I understand why he might not have time aswell.
You've not failed at anything, you achieved a lot this year, not forgetting the rank of Captain! We don't care how little you upload, we just appreciate it when you do. We aren't going anywhere!
You didn’t fail. You learned that life has gotten very busy and what you really want to do will need to be done differently. You are now a captain and that is something to be proud of.
Hey, Crew! Wanna join me in celebrating our favorite pilot’s promotion? We’ve GOT to let him know how proud we are for him! Happy New Year to our Captain, and to all the 74 Crew!
Yes!!!! Congratulations Captain! And thank you for this ‘raw’ video. I have always enjoyed and appreciated whatever you’ve done and am happy you are going to try to take a little more care of yourself. Please do that. We will all still be out here! Happy New Year!
"I failed..." Dude, you're WAY too hard on yourself! You've made captain. That's a huge accomplishment. You're a single guy with no spouse or kids, no big deal about a place. You'll find one. Your channel rocks and you can take more time to do it the way you want. Cheer up! Happy New Year's 🎉
I'm retired American Airlines Airbus guy, 30 yrs, but I have enjoyed your channel and posts. Take a break, and soon you'll get rejuvenated and be back with us. Happy New Year.
A video a week is a bonkers schedule, even for full-time creators. We are just happy to have you here with us at all, and I think we can all say that whatever works for you works for us. Please, go enjoy your life. And if that means we don’t see you for a while, then that means you’re just having more fun. Here’s to a more relaxed and enjoyable 2024.
Amen! Besides that, content creation isn't his full-time job, but I'm sure he's getting compensated for it, but it's probably nowhere near what he's making flying around the world. I'm just grateful his videos still pop up on my home page here on YT!
Proud of you for identifying am issue before it starts to burn hot. Find some rest and a home. We're not going anywhere. Thanks for all the content you do give us! Fly safe! ✈
Captain Kelsey. You have not failed, neither yourself nor us followers. You've learned to re-prioritise for 2024, that's all. THANK YOU for that you have done in the past - and for what you will, probably, do in the future.
You have not failed! Every video on your channel is a delight. It is actually a good thing to reassess life from time to time. Good luck and Happy New Year!
Kelsey, you haven't failed. Sometimes we aren't able to accomplish what we thought we could in a year, c'est la vie, we are human. Now you're making a course correction and hopefully will get the time to make those connections and plant roots. The rest of us will look forward to your videos whether every other week or once a month. Take care of yourself, you deserve it. And congrats on making Captain!
Kelsey, dear man. You didn't fail. In fact, far from it. You are an unmitigated success as a UA-cam content creator, and your channel has grown abundantly over the past year. I see you as a real success, and I am far from alone in feeling that way. You have the knack required to shepherd a successful UA-cam channel into earning the broad positive reputation you have developed. You possess that undefinable "It" factor that every successful performer has. Your innate innocence and optimism are winning traits! Bravo to you, Kelsey.
Boring for Kelsey is genuinely interesting for all your subscribers. Just hearing your point of view on anything aviation or travel related IS giving us value. Keep going! More of the same. DO NOT CHANGE. 👍🏻🇬🇧😎
Over the time I've been watching your videos one thing has struck me about you - honesty supported by humour. A rare combination. Thank you. And congratulations on the forth stripe, they look good on your shoulders. Keep the blue side up.
Hey Kelsey, every chance you won't see this. I've lived in a bunch of different countries and cities and my advice is: be where your people are. If you have a group concentrated in one geographical area and you like spending time with them, then be with them. The main thing is that wherever we are, we take our dissatisfaction with us. You might as well be in your community while you sort that part of yourself out - then you can live where you like. But, the older we get the harder it is to form those friendship groups. Just a word of advice from someone who did this for years. (It was loads of fun, but by god it's tiring.) Take care of yourself and all the best for the new year.
Live where your people are is the BEST advice. I would have said it myself, but @Jablicek said it first and probably better than I could have. Heed this advice, you won't be sorry.
@@InfoSecGuardian Yes, I think we minimise how important it is to be around the people we love. Even if you have work that allows you to travel to see people, when you're having a terrible day you can't simply call someone up for a coffee and a chat spontaneously, and vice versa.
My Dad was an Aviator his entire life. Solo'd at 16, flew 35 missions in B-17's, Purple Heart/Distinguished Flying Cross, Right seat with Western Airlines (which became Delta) then Captain, then retired as Johnny Carsons Lear 35 private pilot. He is a huge part of why I gravitated to your channel, I aviate vicariously through you and really appreciate your dedication and determination in giving a wider audience a deeper appreciation of everything that is involved with flyiing, from ATC, to 40,000 ft and beyond. The reason I am commenting is simply this..WE appreciate you doing what you do 110 percent. My Dad passed away in 2011, but he formlessly 'tapped me on the shoulder' as I was watching this...and he has a simple message of tough love' for you....'Drop the FAILED/FAILURE...' jargon and mindset...ASAP!...You are not a failure nor have you failed. You will achieve your goal...in the designated moment, 'line up..and wait' You are self aware enough to know exactly what you need to do and WE ..1.16 million subscribers...(climbing to 2 million) appreciate and support your decision to reaching your destination...Captain you shall be!
We want to celebrate your promotion. Post when you can. You are valued. You are more than enough. Take care of you. No apologies needed. We are here for you. We love you. Have the best New Year ever, Captain❤❤❤❤❤❤
Im really chuffed by the humanity of all your followers mate. We all love and care for you and whatever you choose to do is fine with us. Just pleased to be along for the ride with you man!
I think the value you've added here is explaining that being a pilot isn't always easy. Everyone thinks it's a glamorous job, especially when you get to jet around in a 74 but people fail to realize that there are significant personal challenges that come with it. Kudos to you for not being afraid to point that out.
Hey , Capt Kelsey don't worry so much. I wish I could fail as badly as you!! Live your life, concentrate on making yourself happy. We all love spending time with you and peeking behind the curtain every now and again. There are other places to watch 'content' but there's only one of you and that's where the 'value' is.
Hey there. I am a student pilot (LTA rating) I mentioned on a forum that I have a massive fear of flying in airplanes, and a lot of people referred me to your channel. They told me your content was great. That you're well spoken, informative, and funny. They're not wrong. When you speak of giving value, you do just that. It only took me a few minutes into the first video I clicked on to be hooked on your content. Taking care of you is important. Don't ever lose sight of that by overloading yourself. I'm already a huge fan, thank you for doing what you're doing.
Don’t lose yourself in all this. We watch your videos because you’re really likable and you create genuinely interesting content. You’ve built an amazing channel, so relax and give yourself a break. We’ll be here when you’re ready to upload new content. Happy New Year!
Kelsey you have one of the most genuine channels... not pushing hats etc...Sponsored by vitamins etc... just being honest and humble with your profession... as always look forward to a video as and when you are able! A very happy new year!
4 bar captain of a 747!!!!! You are the man Kelsey!!!! Love your vids, I dream of being a pilot through you and MSFS!!! I am a A320N pilot on MSFS 747 is next.
Kelsey, first Congrats on making Captain! Second I am terrified of flying but last year I found out I had to fly on less than 2 weeks notice. I watched your videos every day in those two weeks and somehow felt comfortable on all 4 of the flights even though we had to abort take off due to a system malfunction on the second leg, change planes due to a worn rudder seal on the third leg, and take a standby ticket on the fourth leg making me sit alone 15 rows behind my co traveler. This wouldn't have been possible without you and your videos. Whatever your video making future holds I appreciate what you have done for nervous flyers like me. These videos and a few others, have really changed my life and now I'm preparing a cross ocean trip to visit family. So seriously thank you, and now take care and go enjoy what life has to offer ☺️
You're not just at the top of my aviation channels, you're one of my top 5 favorite youtubers. It'll just make it even more exciting to see a new video with the slower pace. You gotta take care of yourself. I'm sure all of us would rather see a slower pace than see you burn out. We'll be here for ya regardless, always keeping the blue side up.
He's not boastful. That's what the community likes about his channel. I like that he doesn't really talk about himself. Even though he actually could, my goodness. He just displayed his captain status. Not that long ago, and didn't even mention it
I recently found this channel and very quickly realised the humble, hard working, generous soul that Kelsey is. My girlfriend noticed that I have been binge watching this pilot channel haha and I've been learning so much. I will have a totally different vision of the whole travelling experience next time I fly ❤
You got the fourth stripe! That's HUGE. You haven't failed us, that's for sure. I'm perfectly fine with a video every other week. You have to take care of yourself.
Congratulations, Captain Kelsey!!! I LOVE your videos!! It’s great you’re trying to reconnect with the “Inner You” and still produce quality material for your viewers!! You are Much Appreciated and again, Congratulations on your Four Bars!!!🎉
Hey Kelsey take as much time between videos as your need. We all want you to enjoy making videos and not make it like a chore. Love your content as always and we are accepting of whatever decisions you decide to make. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
Very wise decisions. Look after yourself and your mental health. To be honest, hearing from you every 2-4 weeks on UA-cam is absolutely fine. You have done so much to educate us all. Focus on the quality, not the volume. I personally enjoy watching you on flights when you may be explaining what is going on and the decisions to be made. You are very worthy of that left hand seat.
Thank you Kelsey . As an ex Braniff/Legacy PSA/USAir guy I learned too late to enjoy the journey and pay less attention to the goal because there will always be another goal, but there’s just one journey. You’ve figured that out, and that, my friend is not failure, it’s a treasure. Best wishes for the new year and blue skies.
That is a solid truth! My father was a slow traveler, he always took time to look around and experience people and places, and I took my cues from him to my eternal benefit. I don't always remember why I was passing through or visiting a place, but I certainly remember the people I met and things I did while there.
I'm an ex Braniff, Texas International, Delta, Continental. British Caledonian girl. Sometimes that journey you mentioned is from one carrier to another in search of a stable job. But it was sure fun while it lasted.
You have not failed your viewers and certainly not yourself when you consider you have additional stripes on your shoulder that counts a lot and that takes a lot of work to accomplish. You should be proud of yourself. You have achieve what a few others wish they could.
Not a fail. You recognised that the targets you set weren’t getting you closer to the goals you were aiming for, and that some of those goals weren’t enhancing your life. These are fabulous lessons
We, your viewers, will watch whatever you throw to us because you have a sincerity that shows through. Take whatever time you need and go whatever pace you want; make space for yourself to be happier. You have seemed somewhat down emotionally for years, and life without joy is not good. Best wishes for a happier new year!
No matter what you do or don’t do, you never failed. You’re a success. You’ve accomplished more than what most people can only dream. Good example is the 4th bar on your shoulders. I’d call that a huge success.
OVERSPEED. OVERSPEED. Slow down and take your time. Your content will get even better because of it. We'll be here regardless of how often you upload, and congrats Captain!
I'm a big fan of quality over quantity - and avoiding creator burnout. You're not failing at all Kelsey - clearly you got yourself promoted to Captain, and are navigating a big swing in the air cargo industry as a whole, along with entertaining us for free! So your 2024 plan sounds absolutely perfect and I wish you the best in the new year! I'll continue to look forward to your videos just as much as before. Take care! (Side note, I did the China -> Hong Kong transition once - did you end up having to go through customs twice in about 10 minutes? That's what happened to us back in 2009! Once on the China side and once on the HK side. So weird...)
You’re so right to seek better life balance. Without balance, nothing feels good. Nothing clicks. Good on you for seeing it and changing course. Appreciate all your content and good luck with everything you’re working toward!
Capt. Kelsey Unplugged. You didn't fail at anything in 2023, you would have failed if you didn't notice what is important to you, which is your life's happiness. Best thing about your videos is, you are genuine. That is why you have many of us are watching you. Have a great New Year, looking forward to what your adventures are in 2024.
Hi Kelsey. So nice to see you talk from your heart. I felt like I was in that car with you. Now here's the thing: You didn't fail. It just wasn't your time to get a house. I'm so glad you're seeing what's important. You get one life, not a dress rehearsal. What you said about balance is so true. You don't want to work yourself to death. It's not just living, it's having a good quality life. If you have no time for you, that's not a good quality life. You do whatever you need to do. You already have a full time job, and your videos are just icing on the cake. You're a huge success on UA-cam, over a million subscribers. I like the fact that you're for real. So many UA-camrs are just fake. Your channel has become one of my favorite to watch. You have inspired me to get back on a plane. I've had a phobia of flying for a long time, but your videos explain a lot that is so logical. I want to visit Japan again. I was stationed there for a couple of years while I was in the Navy. It's my favorite country. So I have to get on a plane and endure a lengthy flight to do that. We'll all be here no matter what you do.
You're one of the best channels on all of UA-cam, your manner of presenting yourself and videos is admirable. Take your time to live and make videos second, we will all still watch! All the best, and congrats!
Mental health in aviation is excessively touchy - it’s like we can’t even mention it. I think you hit the nail in the head. Balance. This industry keeps pushing us, and while we love it, passion alone can’t sustain an industry that knows no limits. I’m inspired by this one Kelsey. Thank you.
Do what you think is the right thing for you. You owe us nothing, in fact it's the other way around. You give us so much of your time and knowledge, and it's a pleasure to watch you. So don't worry about slowing down your production, get yourself a home, settle down and the rest will sort itself out. We'll be here for you when you're ready.
Hey man, likely you won’t see this comment but if you do, I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed the content this year. No matter how much or how little you upload, we won’t be going anywhere and I think I speak for a lot of people here. We would rather see you do well in both your personal life and your professional life then we would rather just see a weekly video. I’m sure 2024 will be yet another amazing year on the channel and I can’t wait to see what the year brings for you and the 74 Gear Family. Cheers to a very good 2024 and and congratulations on the rank of Captain.
You take care of you sir!! Sounds like you need to step away for alittle bit. Life passes quickly- enjoy now sir!! We love your channel and we will always watch regardless how many vids you upload. My bro is a pilot (25 years) he enjoys his time out with family and friends when not flying.
Just wanted to thank you for your videos. I made my first trans-Atlantic flight in 2022 and your assurances about flight safety made it a lot less scary for me. Thank you so much!
It’s okay to monetize UA-cam and realize there are lots of folks who would love to Wear a 74gear hat. Love how humble you are. As a fellow jet pilot I realize how heavy your load is and your videos always bring value. Happy New Year Captain!
I am not a pilot and not even remotely interested in being one. But I do fly a decent amount for work and pleasure. I also love watching this guy and his channel
Absolutely... it's a popular channel, an advertising friendly popular channel by the way, operating in a free market. Any revenue is Kelsey's to keep and any merch opportunities are voluntary transactions. He earned his position in life and anything that comes his way as a result.
It doesn't sound like money is the issue. If it were I'd be happy to support a Patreon. But it sounds to me more like it's just a work/life/UA-cam balance that he's having a hard time finding.
Kelsey, as a non-aviation human, your delivery in aviation topics has always been fascinating to me, and now I binge all sorts of aviation topic vids. It’s actually an amazing success to be so in touch with how you feel and identify what you need and want to do with your life. Follow your heart, you’ll find a place to plant your roots eventually. Your 774 crew will be here with you whatever you decide to do. Much respect to you, Captain, and if you’re ever in Melbourne, Australia I’d be happy to shout you a free breakfast. 🍳
Kelsey, you've provided so much for us this year and you content and video creation have massively improved. You have NOT failed us or yourself whatsoever. Hope the house comes in soon, we'd rather you enjoy your layovers with your crew than think about having to make us content. Stay safe and stay happy, and like many have congratulated you many times in the past few days, Congratulations on your 4 stripes! Looking forward to 2024!
You bring to life the HUMAN ELEMENT of aviation better than any other creator I've watched. You are human, and humble. And because of those two things alone we watch your content and commentary. ❤
You're right on that one. I have absolutely no interest in aviation, but I'm subscribed to this channel just for Kelsey ! One of his videos got randomly recommended to me one day, and even if I understood pretty much nothing of what he was talking about, I liked his personality so much that I subscribed and have not missed a video of his since then. I learned a lot with him and tried to watch other aviation channels, but I always come back to Kelsey's videos. He just has a way of sharing his knowledge and thought that feels different, very human and down to earth (no pun intended 😅).
You may have failed to achieve those specific goals, but you succeeded in learning and growing, and keeping healthy boundaries for yourself. That's how you keep the blue side up my friend!
Kelsey, you need to take the time for yourself. It's not the quantity; it's the quality of your videos. I genuinely enjoy your videos, whenever you choose to post. Take care of yourself. We (your fans) are happy to get what we get... May you have a Healthy, Happy New Year.
The best aviation channel there is! Quality not quantity, self deprecating and perfectly natural. Keep up the good work Captain. You’re appreciated. And happy new year to you!
Kelsey: having an anchor for your life is a noble and essential goal. What we appreciate about you is your honesty. Your audience wants you to have a balance. We will cherish what you offer and we will be happy to hear that you are progressing in your life outside of flying and UA-cam. Happy New Year!
Congrats on the four bars! I wanted to add that your success as a pilot and UA-cam guy is well-earned. It’s nice to see a good guy with his heart in the right place achieving so much. Best of luck in the New Year!
Never change, Kelsey. We appreciate the genuineness in why you're' doing this and why you do what you do. There are channels I follow that every few minutes it's a merch or this or that plug. Btw, Nice bars, Capt. :)
Your videos definitely "give value". They are enjoyable and interesting and they are the closest most of us will ever get to flying a 747 (or anything). The most important thing for you is yourself. Your quality of life and personal satisfaction are more important than making videos. Have a great New Year!
You're a captain now---wasn't all fails. That is definitely a win. You also win because you have now set priorities for you and your life. As a former medic, our rules were to keep ourselves safe, then our partners safe, and then our patients' safe. You can't help others if you go down right? So work on you, you deserve it! So congrats, be safe, and have a Happy New Year!!!
You have NOT failed at explaining the world of aviation and making us experience (a bit) what a pilot does. And you do it great! You should absolutely slow down if you feel you need to. Those videos should not feel like a ball and chain, a burden. We will still be here, when you come back to chat with us. 🥰🥰🥰Happy New Year!
Yeah, I'd to point out how proud we are of you, Congratulations on the advancement to sporting FOUR bars! Well deserved and your passengers are lucky to have you as their pilot in command.
You haven't failed Kelsey, you have succeeded in so many ways. You are now a Captain, you have a successful channel and you have faithful followers. You produce amazing content and you need to balance that with personal life and work, we understand that. Do what you need to do, take a break and just keep being the amazing person you are, we all appreciate what you do. Wishing you a Happy New Year and thank you for all of your content.
Well played. Any content from you is looked forward to. In the sailing world, there is a saying you might appreciate: “One hand for you, one hand for the ship.” Glad you are taking more time for you so you can be your best no matter what you are up to.
You failed at being perfect, which we all do every single day. You make some really awesome content, you got promoted to Captain, you have well over a million subscribers, I’d say you’re doing fantastic. Work on the things you want to improve one day at a time, you got this!
One couldnt say it better my friend! Cant be perfect, no matter how you try. Life doesnt work that way. There is no perfect :) Kelsey, keep the blue side up! 😊
I have watched many of your videos and have always been amazed at the detail you include in them. It must take up so much of your time to produce them to the standard you have achieved. I hope you find what you are looking for in life and wish you well in that. You will be missed on UA-cam if you decide to stop producing your videos but of course, your well-being and life have to come before anything else. Good luck for the future; I am sure you have a wonderful life ahead of you. And thank you for all the pleasure you have given your viewers in producing your great videos.
You never failed us. Not once. You have ALWAYS given us value. Now that you mention it…I was always unrealistically fearful with MANY misconceptions about air travel. By watching your videos you have eliminated that from my mind by educating me on all the reasons why I shouldn’t be fearful. I have an understanding now and it’s made traveling for work & pleasure so much easier and less stressful. Thank you so much for always sharing your value with us. You’re a good man, Captain Kelsey! Congratulations Sir!
You’ve really helped my fear of flying. I had to fly for work and the whole time I was just like “Relax, it just a guy like Kelsey up there.” Congrats on the promotion! We need a video to celebrate with you!
I guess I’m not so much afraid of the flying, I’m afraid of having to fit into the miserable seat for two hours or whatever. I mean, I do have some nervousness but the worst bit is definitely the cramped space.
Congrats on taming that beast! Getting rid of certain monkeys on your back can be hard, especially mental feats, like fears. Getting to see new places in comfort is something we all deserve. Well done. I have funneled plenty of people, scared of flying, here. One girl even sent me really nice thank you, she said she feels at ease for the first time since childhood in a plane. All it took was two days of watching Kelsey. Pretty awesome. Knowing things is the best antidote for fear, and its really hard to keep being scared after you see how much pilots know, how planes work, whats normal, how incredibly safe it is, all the safety systems, their back-ups etc. And remember, the perfect, uneventful flights dont make news :)
Not to mention a 2 hour plane trip travels about the same distance as a 16-20 hour bus trip, so it's 8 to 10 times longer in the same cramped seat. @@callummcneill6266
Kelsey, two things I want you to remember:
1) you are under no obligation whatsoever to maintain a particular level of video production.
2) you don’t owe anyone an apology for anything.

@@adam_matthews Well said!

Well said. Well put.
@@hoplite-bt7li thanks!
The title is "I Failed," but the first thing I noticed is those four bars on your shoulder. Congratulations Captain!
FYI. that´s right, 4 yellow bars, Congrats Sir!
You're not verry observant then, he had the 4th bar two videos ago.
@@Plasmastorm73_n5evv they said "the first thing I noticed" not "I noticed for the first time". Cool it.
Yes - you FAILED to celebrate with us those FOUR BARS!!!! You just casually just showed up with those 😂
I noticed that, too, but just figured I’d missed a video!
I thought I just missed the video he told us. Then I had the thought - Are you even a pilot if you don’t say, ‘BTW, I’m a Captain now!’ … ‘Did you notice my epaulettes?’ … ‘Hey! Where’d all those bars come from?’ 😂🤣
Still the same man just not a show off
90% of the comments in the last 3 video was just "congrats on the strips captain".
My dads the same, his an A380 captain but doesn’t make any big deal of it
@@aussiemozzie107 Your dad is a great captain.
2 videos late there...
@@stockholmish Really? you've flown with him as your pilot or as your captain? Give me a break.

It’s ok to even quit if you feel like you need to move on with your life in another direction. I love your videos but if it is time-DO IT! ❤

@@brynleytalbot778 You mentioned "sell" twice. I don't think Capt. Kelsey is into selling.
Arguably you've succeeded more than you've failed. You're a captain now
A promotion is a success, but it would seem from this video that there are other more important goals for him.
I am the captain now
what about your goals let us talk about those instead of someone else's@@wfemp_4730
Yes, he succeeded in his day job, and he didn't fail in his second job, he just didn't do as well as he wanted. Less than an hour since the video premiered, and he has over 3.2K likes. Most channels would love to have that ❤.
@elmalloc , I am one, too! But, a 🚢 Captain 😊
Long story short. He’s now a Captain which means more responsibilities and having to dedicate more time to the company. Quite understandable. Good luck Kelsey !

@@SUPERPOWERCHINA_ : Lying communist troll alert! (Reported!)
Well said
Agree entirely
100%. NOBODY is perfect.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤦♂️
And congrats to you. Enjoy retirement.
hey big boss, do you think you can summarize the bars? Ive seen some pilots like that but idk shit
Well said that man 👏
Thanks captain for your wise advice. Our 7th is an FO at United. He’s on the 787- so excited to be doing what he loves 😜. But yes, pacing oneself and getting good balance is crucial for a successful career.
Haha listen to these jerks calling each other Captain hahahahaha so funny
Look, if "adding value" makes you happy, go for it. But what WE want is you sharing whatever you find interesting or exciting. We're here for your personality and perspective. So don't stress it! Do what satisfies you, share whatever you feel like sharing, and that's all we want.
For example, I liked the layover blog, but I thought that was because it was fun for you to share it with us. If it's not, don't do it. You don't owe us anything.
Good luck with your ventures! Happy New Year!
No one has commented on this? Thank you for donating ❤
I totally agree: he should move at his own pace and produce a quality video instead of pumping out video after video. He has a very healthy lifestyle so I understand why he might not have time aswell.
You've not failed at anything, you achieved a lot this year, not forgetting the rank of Captain! We don't care how little you upload, we just appreciate it when you do. We aren't going anywhere!

Thank you for taking us along , you have failed nothing .
Don’t worry about not filming experiences. It’s more important for you to enjoy them.
You didn’t fail. You learned that life has gotten very busy and what you really want to do will need to be done differently. You are now a captain and that is something to be proud of.

Amen! Truth!
This is one of my favorite videos. Makes me think about decisions, priorities and sacrifices that content creators experience.

Fly safe! ✈

Dude, don't chew yourself up. You produce valuable stuff all the time on this platform. Have a happy new year.

And congratulations on the forth stripe, they look good on your shoulders.

@@SUPERPOWERCHINA_ : You are a lying communist troll! You have been reported for spamming this channel!!

I think the value you've added here is explaining that being a pilot isn't always easy. Everyone thinks it's a glamorous job, especially when you get to jet around in a 74 but people fail to realize that there are significant personal challenges that come with it. Kudos to you for not being afraid to point that out.

Wow haven’t heard of Braniff in years. Nice flashback
Well said sir! I second that!
Your humility is only eclipsed by your humanity. You have Succeeded greatly! This is the time to reflect. Thank you Kelsey have a Happy New Year!
Thank you.
Yeah I agree
Do what you think is the right thing for you. You owe us nothing, in fact it's the other way around. You give us so much of your time and knowledge, and it's a pleasure to watch you.

I hear what Kelsey is saying and respect it. That being said, I'd buy a "74 Gear" hat too :)
Good for you, Kelsey. Boundaries are healthy. Take time - we'll look forward to the next one.

And one thing we appreciated about you: youre a genuine person, you flight in air but still a grounded person, never change, be yourself ! 🤟🏻
No failure here! Self care is so incredibly important. Take care of you first, then post even better videos! Also, congratulations, Captain!
I miss you Kelci. Thank you for all the wonderful videos over the years. I understand the struggle.
Nicely said!
Congratulations Captain Kelsey! The time you have given, and your amazing content is greatly appreciated.
You’ve really helped my fear of flying. I had to fly for work and the whole time I was just like “Relax, it just a guy like Kelsey up there.” Congrats on the promotion! We need a video to celebrate with you!
Always remember. Pilots don't want to die. They're fully invested in keeping the plane intact.
@@BeeWhistlernot any more cramped than a bus
Not to mention a 2 hour plane trip travels about the same distance as a 16-20 hour bus trip, so it's 8 to 10 times longer in the same cramped seat. @@callummcneill6266
You do you Captain (yes we expect a video on the promotion) You've got tons of content to keep us going. Good luck finding a nest to crash in!
Good for you, Kelsey, for realizing you need to take care of yourself. We will treasure whatever videos you make. And big congrats on that 4th bar!
