    I like your reviews because they feel honest. Basically when hams review stuff from fellow hams it’s just an ad. Your reviews feels like reviews. 73!

      @@ve2zdx Thank you. And yes they are reviews and not ads, even though Ham Radio Dude sent me the antenna for free.

    Beefy torrid! Nice winder! That Kevlar wire doesn't have a lot of stretch to which is nice. 73

    It looks great, bit torroid, funky design. My only concern is strength as to accidentally broke yours straight away. Do you think its worth it? Do the new ones get the beefier design?

      The winder is completely redesigned with a beefier design. Ham Radio Dude also has offered to replace broken winders free of charge. So yet, it's worth it!

      @LB0FI awesome, thanks for that, Morten! ;)

    I'm really not a fan of 3d printing of anything for portable use. It's just not rugged enough, and so often there is an unnecessary lack of material in an effort to be tbe lightest weight possible.
    You should be able to rough handle a winder without it breaking, or even just correctly wind on fingers if ultimate light weight is required.

      You do not know much about 3D printing, do you?

      @@LB0FI I do know that I have seen a lot of broken printed stuff. And also I could fabricate from a piece of suitable plastic stock using tools that I have in a fraction of the time, and at a fraction of the cost of printing something. I know enough, and as I said, I'm not a fan. Just my opinion.

      There is nothing wrong with 3d printed items if you know how to print.

    • @LB0FI
      @LB0FI  2 місяці тому

      @@KU8RLY Exactly. Knowing what you do is essential in all production processes, and with 3D printing it’s not only what you print, but how you print it that determines the physical strength of the finished product.

    But, does it Abide?

      What?

      From the movie, the Big Lebowski. As the Dude himself says in the film: "the dude abides", which essentially just means one should relax, enjoy the simple pleasures of life, be generally tolerant of others, maintain equanimity in the face of adversity, and encourage others to do the same.

    Did you need to make any mods other than the length?

      Not at all! It's a very well constructed kit.

    This is solely my opinion !
    But Amateurs are their own worst enemy, when it comes to Antennas !
    It has been a recent discovery of mine, to just buy 135 feet of Super Wire, run it to a tuner, and operate !
    You'll spend more time operating, and having fun, than trying to calculate proper dimensions, and wrestling with formulas, that unless you have sophisticated test gear, you'd never know the difference !
    Just my two cents !
    Maybe a little more figuring for inflation ?
    👍😉

      If you put two hams in the same room you will have at least four opinions. But am I correct in understanding that one should only use one antenna in every condition?

    • @PaulK7VIQ
      @PaulK7VIQ 2 місяці тому

      @@LB0FI Yes, one antenna can do it all. It is silly they make so many types of antennas when a little rubber ducky will take care of your ham needs. Same with radios you only need one to do everything. Now, let's talk about that bridge I would like to sell you ;)
