    This video is essential.
    Such a cool feature.
    Takes a little tweaking to set up but opens so many sonic capabilities.
    Big THANKS!

    Thx works good. I was able to have multiple instances of Perf and send them to Ape Matrix ‘MIDI SEND’ within AUM to uniquely automate more than 2 parameters at a time, just set any of the 8 channels within AP’s midi send to receive from another instance of Perf then set the target AUv3 to receive from CC 3 or 4 etc.

    Thanks for clairifying what the Parameter Locking thing is and what CCs it sends on. I had no idea and I have messed with Perforator a couple times just as a standard gate. Thanks for putting the time into this. I just do some sloppy live jams on UA-cam and it still can take a lot of time.

      💙 Thanks, Daniel! 🤗 I really am so blown away by the things we can do with iOS and I just want to share the love and spread the word as much as possible!
      I feel that this is a perfect time for iOS producers (and late-night-couch-noodlers, too!) to step up their game with all of the new production tools and options we've been given this year! 😍 I cannot wait to keep making more new tutorial videos to help! 🤓👊

      Well, I'm only on iOS for computer based devices. It's getting pretty good, but even my iPad Pro is getting overloaded somewhat quickly with all these Audio Damage, FAC, and Rozeta MIDI things I've been trying lately. Throw in a Moog app and your about done. My iPad Air 2 is now only able to do a few tasks really. I try to stay at 256 buffer size though. 512 is too noticeable if playing live.

    • @ElectronisoundsAudio
      @ElectronisoundsAudio  6 років тому

      Yeah, CPU overload is a real-thing, even on monster desktop systems. I've got pad patches on the Diva VST synth that seriously choke my 32gigs of RAM... I am constantly dealing with CPU and latency even on my main desktop Ableton DAW. 🤓 👊
      My workaround for iOS so far, has mostly been to render or record as much as possible to audio, and load that audio into Beatmaker 3 for excessive chopping, mangling, sequencing, arranging, etc. 🤓 👊
      But for sure, if one wants to do serious music production, the AIR 2's CPU can get full pretty quickly with all these new apps. 😏 👊

    I have a midi challenge. I have addictive pro in AUM set up with the ARP locked, which means the ARP will remain as is, even if you change the preset. I want to automate changing between 2 or more patch presets(NOT ARP presets) as the ARP is running. I usually use the MIDILFOs audio unit because I like the way it works and the amount/variety of control, but I am open to any other way. One can access automating preset changing by tapping the name at the bottom of the addictive pro lane in AUM. I tried using the pc and cc choice in the place where you can choose cc, note or pc; but it didn't work. I don't know why it's not working. I will keep trying, but I love these kinds of midi challenges, and I think you are like me with that. It's so much fun to find new and better ways of using midi. My all time favorite midi apps are midifire and midiflow. They can do very simple things and crazy complex stuff too. And the interfaces make it even more fun. Actually MIDIdesigner is up there, but much different use. Have you ever used mididesigner? I would use it much more if there were more choices for controls, especially knobs. I really don't like their knobs. Have fun, amigo. I wish I had the motivation to make UA-cam videos. Every day I say to myself that I will start doing it. I want to get a camera to use instead of my iPhone 7+, but I should just start with what I have. With your understanding of MIDI, I think a lot of us would benefit from some deep MIDI videos. I understand MIDI, but from what I see in a lot of videos, most musicians really do NOT understand MIDI and end up messing around with trial and error, which ends up with a messy setup that has problems and is hard to tweak. Do you use a powered MIDI thru box. The powered ones are great because they never have note issues due to lack of adequate power. I have been using the same one forever. I ordered it directly from the maker in Poland. It's called Amotone Lab MIDI Splitter, made by Amptone and is now available from amazon. I like it because it works with wall power or 9v battery. I bought rechargeable 9v batteries with a charger and save quite a bit of cash because those batteries are not cheap. I also don't like the idea of throwing out batteries, so I use rechargeables of all kinds.

      Say, can this magic be done inside Cubasis too? (As I don’t have AUM). In other words, just as you describe it, without gating and with parameter locking.

    I've been on the fence about getting AUM for a live jam set up (currently using Beatmaker 3) and this awesome video has made up my mind! AUM will be my next app purchase. Any plans for more AUM videos?

    • @ElectronisoundsAudio
      @ElectronisoundsAudio  6 років тому +1

      YES, my friend - the more I am using AUM, the more I am liking it and it's modular style workflow of routing and connecting things. 😁😁 I did a test of hooking up my Novation Launch Control XL to it, and it's KILLER for live jam set ups. You can even start stop loops via midi. it's *dope*. More AUM videos are coming for sure! Thanks for watching! 🤗👊

      Can one change the midi channel or the cc of the perforator? Meaning to use more than one instance to control...

    • @ElectronisoundsAudio
      @ElectronisoundsAudio  6 років тому +1

      Yes, you can, Markus! 😁😁 If you press the little "Utils" button on Perforator, you can set the Midi Channel, and the CC#'s for both channels as well. 🤗 👊

  • @perrypelican9476
    @perrypelican9476 6 років тому

    There is a cool app called MidiLFOs that you can use to send cc messages to 4 different midi channels and can control the rate and choose from several wave forms. It gives you plenty of options and It has ableton link. I use it standalone but you can put it into AUM if you want. It is not an audio unit but you don’t really need it to be. I suppose if it was an AU then you could load up a bunch in AUM and send to more that 4 channels.

      That looks *sweet*! Art Kerns! I have his "MidiSteps" sequencer which is all kinds of awesome. 🤓 👏
      I've been meaning to play with the LFO in the Rozeta suite as well, which looks very promising, and has 3 lfo's with selectable waveforms and some other editable parameters. So much good stuff! 😍👊

      I spent *hours* trying to get this going in Beatmaker 3, and later had to ask for help on the official BM3 forums... Turns out this feature is not available in BM3 at this time, but should be coming in a future update. 🤓 👏
      Sorry, I do not use Cubasis, so I can't be of any help there.

      I've been doing all of my video editing with an app called "LumaFusion" on an iPad AIR 2, which is a really robust video editor.
      However, I use and combine results from a lot of graphics apps to process my graphics *before* I import them into LumaFusion such as Photoshop Express, Werble, Trigraphy, Mirrorly. Some of my logo animations have been made in After Effects on my desktop system as well.
      2 weeks ago, I got a new iPhone 8+ 🤤🤤🤤, and i've shot (ProMovie) and edited (LumaFusion) my latest video using only the iPhone 8+! 😲 Although the screen is tiny compared to an iPad, LumaFusion worked pretty darn fantastic on the iPhone! 🤓👏

    Your videos are really helpful, especially because you take time to explain how to connect the devices !!!
    A question : what midi controller would you recommand (i use mainly AUM, patterning 2, audiokit1 and apparillo, and several effects or sequencers, like rozetta suite) ? I don't want a midi controller that could be to limited but be able to control knobs like cutoff, for example.
    Thanks by advance !!!

      Personally, I really like the Novation Launchkey midi controllers. They give you keys, knobs and pads to assign, and they work with iPad and laptops/desktops.
      I have both the 25-key version and the MINI version. The 25 key version is nice because you get a *MOD WHEEL*, but it is quite a bit bigger in size when you put it next to the tiny MINI.
      If you want to be able to put it in your backpack and take it out with you, the MINI might be the best oiption. If you mainly want to use it at home, the 25-key is a great choice, imho!
      Hope this helps! 😀 👊

    Thank you for tutorial! I just set up noir the same way. The only problem is that you can not have more than one unit of Perforator per session. Would like to know if someone has a solution!

    • @ElectronisoundsAudio
      @ElectronisoundsAudio  5 років тому +1

      You can have as many instances of Perforator per session as you need? I just double checked and loaded three onto one instrument? You can load a dummy track also - like an empty audio track, and then stack as many Perforators as you need on that channel... WOOT! Are you using AUM? You can set the routing of each Perforator in the MIDI routing tab. BOOM! 😀 👊

    • @PitaPaaaka
      @PitaPaaaka 5 років тому

      Electronisounds Audio Yeah, I’m using AUM. I mean all these perforators work on channel 1 and cc 1 and 2. So second perforator overwrites the first one. Or not? Thanks !

    • @ElectronisoundsAudio
      @ElectronisoundsAudio  5 років тому +1

      @@PitaPaaaka You just assign the Perforator to the specific instrument in AUM's midi routing tab. Perforator will not effect what it is not routed to - I just tested again - you are good to go here. Just load the Perforators and ROUTE them individually to whatever you want them to go to in the MIDI routing tab. Then assign the controls as shown in this video. 😀 👊
