[PD2] Season 9 Combustion Sorceress Showcase [Ormus robe version]

  • Hey everyone,
    Had to play combustion again this season due to new ES, teleport and ormus robe change, so this is my build! It is still a work in progress as there's still minor upgrades left to be made, but its mainly just min maxing out my gears, the gameplay in the video is already optimized. Hope you guys enjoy it. Also, no more prebuff ES shenanigans~ Hurray!
    Armory : projectdiablo2...
    Gameplay:
    Teleport, combustion, spam fireball and pray for combustion proc from ormus, once combustion from skills has cooled down, tele into mobs and combust and repeat. Use firebolt for boss.
    Build synopsis:
    Teleport - [17 hard points]
    Since the value of adding skill points to teleport goes down by 50% from level 17 onwards, i added only 17 hard points to teleport and relied on getting +skills from gears and charms to push me to level 35 teleport for only 1% damage penalty. Also, the damage penalty on teleport debuff is a global divisor on overall damage, so it is important for me to get it to low damage penalty. Notably, i could add one more skill from fire mastery to this to get it to 0% damage penalty, but i've calculated that 4% fire damage from fire mastery gives more damage compared to the 1% damage penalty, hence why i'm leaving it at level 17 hard points, because for the 17 points i added, it was 2% per point so it was worth it, and after 17 it isn't worth adding hard points anymore.
    Energy shield - [MAX - 20 hard points]
    ES is maxed because at max level, the benefits are really good. 87% damage conversion means for every 1 damage you are supposed to take to your mana, you only take 0.87, which makes you super tanky with the right set-up.
    This also means the higher level my ES is, the higher the absorption rate, which is what i wanted as this means i mitigate more damage via that conversion, which also means +skills from gears.
    Fire Mastery - [Current hard point 4. Adding this each time i level up now - Leave at lvl 1 and only start adding after other skills]
    Fire mastery value drops off once the skill is level 30, as from level 31 onwards, you don't receive additional fire pierce anymore. So with 9 fire skill charms + skills from gears, i have max pierce at level 95.
    Combustion - [MAX - 20 hard points]
    Firebolt - [MAX 20 hard points]
    Fireball - [MAX 20 hard points]
    Warmth - [1 hard point]
    Gears:
    Shako - Alot of skills and life and mana.
    Amulet - Alot of skills, life and strength (which is mana), and high res
    2X SOJ - Skill and mana
    Phoenix shield - High fire pierce with redemption aura to sustain aggressive playstyle.
    Eschutas - Alot of skills and dmg and energy.
    10 FCR frostburns - To hit 105 FCR BP. Provides alot of mana and fire pierce
    Arachnid - Skill, mana, FCR.
    Combustion Ormus - For the combustion proc, and it also provides a lot of FCR.
    CTA staff with shiver armor - To save skill points.
    The two most important stat for this build is :
    + skill - Benefits dmg, teleport, ES, and getting fire mastery to hit max pierce. Also increases BO from CTA to have more mana.
    Max mana / Mana
    Resistance and life.
    With the exception of poison resist, resistance and life is not important for this build as the level and absorption on ES is maxed out. For poison resistance, you'd want a decent amount of poison res as poison damage is not absorbed by ES at all.
    Stats:
    Enough str with gears and charms to equip phoenix monarch shield.
    The rest into energy.
    Why do i use fire skillers with strength instead of life.
    My ES is level 38, which gives me an absorption rate of 89%, and my gears give me 95% max mana, which means i actually get more value out of 6 strength than 45 vitality after converting the 6 strength to 6 energy through saving hard stat points from gear requirement.
    Mercenary:
    Infinity, a must-have.
    Using innocence + ferocity combo for helm and chest, because it serves a few function.
    1. Provide an extra layer of protection via taunt while telestomping.
    2. Taunt draws aggro from mobs, so this means the mobs get grouped up more, which in turn lets my combustion do even more damage almost like a ricochet effect.
    3. Sometimes after i teleport, combustion is on CD and i'm in the midst of packs, after taunt gets proc, i generally am safe until my combust comes off CD again.
    Things to watch out for.
    Monsters that do really high elemental damage or poison damage are dangerous to this build,
    so beware of certain bosses from cistern, tomb, warlord (the 2nd boss), lost temple as they can one shot you if your poison res is not high enough since your es can't absorb poison and with this build, your hp pool is gonna be relatively low.
    What you can do for poison heavy maps, is to chug antidotes before the start of map so you have extra 25 poison res for the entirety of the map (the antidotes stack, so you can chug 20 before the map and they'll last for 10 minutes). Keeping a few antidotes on your belt is also recommended.

    this is what i love about pd2. for example darkhumility has this build as B and nova at S++, but this build pushes for fastest time. it's incredibly powerful.

      idk I much more prefer Nova. I hate the CD on Combustion.

    It looks fun but idk, i'd prefer piercing abilities like Nova instead to make sure every enemy is taken

    200 % cast 48 lvl comb with eschutas budget 50 hr, have better time in t3 because of cast, good work !

    Btw have same build just 200 % fcr is more OP, DMG is bit lower but all the time combustion 🎉

    Also guys don't sleep on andy's visage for this build. u get sweet poison res, a lot of str and super cheap +3 skills.

    sick build. So fast. Very different play style to my click and hold maul druid. Considering making a comb sorc myself now!

      Yeah throw barb here 10800/11200 dmg with 12% amp on glaive with 478 throw and yeah throw barb DH say directly is sux but….. I’m not sure ;)

      ​@@Eng.Valkov90sounds like could be strong build, I'd take dh words with a huge grain of salt, it's just impossible properly test every build in a few weeks before season start. Reapers toll merc could be nice if u farming bosses with throw

      The map had -res modifier as well, so i was on -15ish for the entire map 🤣

    How about 200fcr skull collector version of this build ?

      Not sure about that, going for 200 FCR would mean sacrificing +skills which also means low level core skills like teleport, es, fire mastery. It could work but i don't think it's worth it.

    How do you already have so much gear? I have been playing like crazy and only found 2 high runes this season "vex and sur".

      I've gotten pretty lucky with drops and slams and items bought in the first week are sold at much cheaper. I have a lot of playtime as well, about 750k monster kills now :P. Playtime =/= efficiency, it really depends on build and map clear speed. Some builds take twice or thrice as long to clear a map.

      @heartemperor4616 I currently play ice barrage. I don't have all the high end gear yet so it takes me about 17-23 minutes on average to clear a map. Last season at this time I had way more gear. I think I'm just having bad luck right now

      @@mediocremike35 dry periods happen, i farmed for 6 hours and got nothing of value but the next hour i got a ber dropped. 17-23 minutes seems rather slow though for ice barrage, if its okay with you, would you mind linking your armory for me to take a look?

    is this hardcore viable?

      You can socket the sockets with SUR / mana jewels for hardcore for a massive mana pool that can reach 4~5k-ish.You won't be able to do T3 as efficiently but T1 maps should still be the same, except you would be almost close to invincible in t1 maps. This build is pretty tanky, there's only a few things that can really kill you in maps, souls, the afflicted in citadel maps, dolls, and crushing blow mods is pretty dangerous too, poison based attacks are also dangerous like the bosses from cistern/warlord/tomb/river so poison res + antidote is important. In westmarch map, the boss does a swirling ground fire attack that "explodes' after awhile, that's dangerous and can one shot you.

    Can you explain why you went for ferocity and innocence on the merc?

      Hi, i went ferocity + innocence on the merc because
      1. It provides a layer of safety when i tele into packs, because taunt from ferocity will draw the aggro from its targets and decrease their attack rating + damage, so its safer for me.
      2. Since the taunt from ferocity draws aggro from mobs, its also great for grouping mobs into a closer proximity for my combustion/fireball to do more damage.
      3. Innocence helps to proc the taunt almost always whenever you tele into packs due to bladeshield.
      It's not a game changer like phoenix or infinity, but it helps !
