It's always so great to see the development of these games and how they became so popular. I'll be doing things just like this when I start my own video game company.
I remember when I first played this game when I rented Sonic Gems Collection. I never heard of the game. While playing it, I past the time posts and traveled through time, I concluded that that I was traveling through time because the posts said uture and Past. I didn't know the concept of the game so I was confused. I quit the the game because I thought I going back in time took me to a previous stage makeing start over, I didn't know if I was making progress or not.
Seriously though, very well done behind the scenes of Sonic CD. Lots of insight here I didn't know otherwise. Sega should do more things like this for future releases. ^_^

Sonic CD is awesome. It's so retro, 90's, and pixaly. The Japanese soundtrack is so epic. It reminds me of 1997, the year I was brought into this world and the first time I seen artificial light. :') ahh... good times...

They reference it in Sonic 06 where if you pick Amy instead of Elise Amy is described as Sonic's longtime love meaning that he has loved her for a long time, In Sonic Chronicles Sonic has the option of telling Amy that he cares about her much more then a friend (the fact that there is the option means he feels that way, whether or not he told her or not isn't shown) in Unleashed he can accept a date from her and they are on that day in Black Knight, In Sonic X he even told her that

I wish SEGA would do a behind the scenes look and development of EVERY main title sonic game, it would be REALLY interesting to see their motives to make/design some of the newer characters like Chaos, Shadow, Rogue, Chip, the Wisps, the stage designs and even some of the new gamplay elements like the Homing attack, Boost, and even the Werehog. Except for Sonic 06....nobody cares about that game lol
Some of the information here doesn't seem to correalate what happened in the actual game. The final stage took place on little planet, not the Eggman mountain. There was plans for a new final boss in this version of the game, and it was going to take place at the Eggman Mountain, but it got scrapped. So maybe this dev diary was made at the time when they were still considering it? I'm not sure.
@alienwaregamerx2011 microsoft saw how much fandom it was getting and told them to release it by the end of 2006 it was suppose to be released in mid to late 2007 if they didn't have it done by the end of 2006 they would have to scratch that idea and microsoft would have taken their third party license for xbox

Metal will always be Sonic's true ultimate rival. Not Shadow or anyone else they decide to make in the future. Only Metal.
