I live in a wet area (temperate rainforest in Asheville, NC) and lambs ear still grows great I would still go for it! It does get soggy like you said if it rains too much.
I’d love to plant that next spring. Seems like something I can’t kill and makes an excellent chamomile tasting and healthy tea. Wild lambsear seems to be everywhere in Missouri and is helping me with this chest cold.
Hi Janey 🌺.Thanks for the imformation about lamb's ear . This plant looks amazing in your garden . I love the color of the leaves . Have awonderful day 🌻🌺🌻.
I am an avid, highly experienced gardener and I've only recently decided to try Lamb's ear as a groundcover in front of and between shrubs and perennials. After some research, I chose the Helen von Stein stachys (fyi, it is pronounced "Helen fon Shtine") and we just planted it today. As luck would have it, I found your video afterward. Thank you for your thorough, pleasant, informative video! I think HvS will be a good fit in our garden.
I live in the east bay and would love to have it but I’m on the fence. It’s been quite rainy the last two winters. A few neighbors have the typical lamb’s ear (HOA approved) and they haven’t aged well. I imagine they hadn’t cut them back in the fall?
Great information! I just bought my first 3 Helen Von Stein Lambs Ear nursery plants today. Thank you so much.
Super helpful video
Thanks Janey! Why is this called "Helen von Stein"?
Hi - That's the name given to this particular variety, named by the woman who hybridized it, Countess Helen von Stein
