Not that many information available yet. As recently India reported local transmission but may be more than that in real life as not too many cases they're sequencing.

15:20 For those viewers who've forgotten their math. Increases are multiplied: 1.4 * 1.6 = 2.24. So the delta variant is 124% more transmissible. That is where the *124%* *_more_* transmissible* comes from.
Or you could say, 224% _as_ transmissible as the original (wild/lab) variant.
I don't think that's the right way to calculate. I wrote a comment en the previous video, because John said 100 % more. So Uk variant is ~40% more than the original one. That's 140 % or 1,4. Delta is 60 % or 0,6 more than the UK, so, its 140% x 60% =0,84 0,84+0,4 =1,24. So delta is theoretically 124 % more than the original one and not 224.

Hay fever symptoms are now the predominant symptoms. I got asked to have a test on the ZOE app because I had my normal hay fever symptoms the same as the last 3 decades

One thing to keep in mind about France and other countries is that the 30% who are vaccinated are those who are most at risk plus First Responders. About one- 6 of the population is too young to get vaccinated. And another one six are very low-risk and haven't been vaccinated yet.
Vaccinations among those most likely to be hospitalized and those most likely to die are probably over 95%.

My point was that 30% of the total population is better than it sounds. It's about 40% of all who will eventually be vaccinated and about 50% of those who have a high need to be vaccinated.
When you remove people with compromised immune systems and children, 66% of the total population is probably about as high as a given country will get.
So it is a bit misleading to say "only" 30% of the total population is vaccinated. I think it's more informative to say the percentage of the population that can be vaccinated.
Right now we are not vaccinating anyone who is under 12 or has a compromised immune system.
To start with, the UK has a lot of Indian residents so logically with the back and forth travel the virus came in and secondly of course as soon as the variant was discovered the UK should have stopped all flights to the country. Why our leaders need so much time to make immediate calls is beyond me. It is not just the UK but seems like all countries are so slow and have been all through the pandemic.

Here in Ireland people with the new delta variant symptoms aren’t getting tested and are spreading it around. They say either ‘ I’m fine, I’ve had my first jab’ , ‘it’s just hay fever or a cold’. Many just don’t want to stop socialising, so are in denial and refuse to get tested.

During decades of working overseas, I have witnessed planeloads of heavily pregnant visitors taking advantage of our NHS (which politicians are proud to remind us is "free at the point of delivery"). It follows that many fleeing India, South Africa, etc may well have been feeling unwell or in contact with such, but not confident of the treatment available in their own countries. Spikes are then inevitable.

@@joejose8433 Vaccines for everyone 12 and up have been available for free on a walk-in basis long enough for everyone to already be fully vaccinated. The problem at this point isn't travel, it's people who are unwilling to get vaccinated. Last I heard, the delta variant was already at 20% in the US anyway and spread out across most of the country, so travel restrictions wouldn't do much.

Are there any statistics for the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine? Everyone talks about protection after one versus two doses of vaccine, but is the singular challenge of this one-dose vaccine enough to protect against the Delta variant? Or are there not enough data available?

TY Doc, You are unstoppable! At minute 8:40 you show data from ECED and I have a question: how could a vaccination prevent individuals to be infected? To my knowledge, a vaccine doesn't do that, it helps at "not getting too sick". I found it a little confusing.
My brother aged 25 has had 2 Pfizer vaccines, had a sniffle he thought was hayfever and took a test as part of the twice weekly regime and it was positive. He passed to two people (thankfully also mild) but shows how different the symptoms are. Runny nose, no cough or fever. Wouldn’t have thought anything of it without a test.
Then he shouldn't have got tested. It just keeps the casedemic going.

@@phildoodler2199 Totally agree herd immunity is 100% needed and will happen at some point, I've had covid and the Vaccines but I see it like this covid itself will always offer better protection as the immune system sees more parts of the virus and so will create different types of antibodies that the vaccine won't do as it only can see 2 parts of the spike protein..

I came to Spain to visit my family, I did my PCR test and took al the mesures in the plane...
There I discovered that British people don´t even need to do a PCR to enter my country... not any measure...
