    Thank you. Also want to thank you for showing us how you cut your scraps. I got a huge bag cut down. Pressing first was such a help. I don’t sew as much as you so cut 2.5, 5 and anything smaller than that into strings. Not sure if I will use them but they are there in case. It feels so good to do this. The strings I don’t want less than 1.25. I bagged up all the rest to donate for crumb quilts. Marked the bag so if anyone looking for that can easily know. It feels great to get my sewing room tidy. My daughter is coming from Texas to Kansas Friday so we will have a tidy room to sew. I miss our weekly sewing sessions. 💚💚

      I'm happy to hear your daughter is coming for a visit ❤️ I'm glad that cutting the scraps down helped tidy up your room. Now to sew something with them 😊

    Thank you for doing the "experimentation" I could never bring myself to try.
    A good teacher gives the students the ability to step out on their own with good tools and good understanding of the process, You DID IT! Right in front of our eyes! You are pretty special in that way. Thank you.

    Girl, you are crazy.... Crazy smart!!! No one else has demonstrated the flying geese in different sizes and explained how to size them using this method. Thank you!

  • @maryseaman312
    @maryseaman312 4 місяці тому +1

    Not crazy ... diligent
    I do not know if I will ever find out, but I am thinking that perhaps a good experiment would be to change the numbers on the cut squares - - just to see ... if we went a quarter inch smaller, what would the size come out. All in all, you did not have as much waste as is found in other methods, and I DO LIKE that!
    One year I sat down to learn this method ... I think I was working on unfinished size 2x4" ... I made 1064 flying geese ... I still have them ... I really do need to sew them into something ... in time, probably ...
    If I ever do the idea I considered ... I will let you know

    This is really great. I pull away from odd measurements in patterns. I think why I don’t do HST’s . Besides it frustrates me to loose my points. Must be OCD The smaller ones are best even though I tend to make bigger squares I definitely will try these

    Thank you. I have been quilting for years and hate flying geese. I have a problem with my eyes seeing the lines for those odd numbers cut. I usually have more waste than I want cause I have to cut them down.

    So glad to see your version of this. You explain things so well. I've been working on a quilt with 6 inch panels and wanted to put them around my blocks. I've practiced several ways and still don't have the "size outcome" that I need. I would have to make 360 half square triangles if I do it that way.

    Have you considered drawing a line on the overlap section in the middle and cut off that bit of extra fabric (it only affects the first two squares you are stitching on)? I don't like the added fabric where the two squares overlap. I see you did consider it

      If you go down to just an inch bigger than half the large size it don't happen. I could pre cut that away, but I am never sure where it will land.
