  • Clearing up questions about the mica powders I use with epoxy resin, and another bargain mould from Temu. And heck it's a fiddly one. Also demonstrating the "gravity method" of demoulding flat or delicate molds

    So funny, we were both saying "you missed 3 birds and a leaf".. then we said " yay, she found them, oh no the other bird too." You made us laugh. That was a complicated or busy mold to find everything. I don't remember you doing the turtle mold that you got for Wendy. I love that cheaper mold. Also have the same shape for the 3d printer and Cnc. Made a matching set with different materials. Thanks for sharing.

    • @miniscenesgb
      @miniscenesgb  Рік тому +3

      No I haven't done the turtle yet. What happened was Temy did "a funny" and duplicated an order. and in the case of the turtle, triplicated. So I gave Claire and Wendy one each :)q

    When I made this item, my brain apparently thought the mold itself wasn't challenge enough and thought "Hey, you've got one less mica powders than you've got cavities here, so let's make every item a different color!" UGH. It took me over 8 hours to color in this mold! LOL When I poured it I had added in a chunky glitter and it really made the colors pop and sparkle. I think I will have to order this green. If you want a nicer mould for the tree, maybe pour a clear version of it, then use it to make a much thicker, sturdier mould from that. Try to use Let's Resin's silicone. It's so, so nice to use...and easy! I really like your new purple mat!

    I have watched many a person staring their resin and they all whip it up fast😹😹😹
    Yep I was pointing to alll the parts you missed could not help my self😹😹😹😹
    There are a few out there who place their resin bottles into the sink with warm water before they mix the resin but they also mix the colour in one half first and then add the 2nd part to the first just to give themselves the time to mix.
    Love the tree it looks really good. If you do this again many change the birds and flowers from each of them even mix it up and have different coloured birds together. I will have to check out this site everyone is raving about😹😹😹

    • @miniscenesgb
      @miniscenesgb  Рік тому

      Yes I sometimes warm mine too. And the fast stirring - with deep pour resin no problem, regular resin, gives bubbles but they usually clear fine. I'm getting a debubbling machine soon. I do tend to do what's quickest when I make videos. Off camera I stir slowly. Pre-warming you do have to be careful with , as heat at any stage can cause flash curing, so it takes some practice to know how far to go with heat.
      If you don't find this mold on Temu - it's similar price on Amazon
      Yes could mix the bird colours up but the object of this video was to use just a few colours and only 2 brands to clear up some of the questions I'd been getting about powders.
      Thanks for watching :)

      Tree is a beauty. And yes I was saying you forgot the birds and a leaf. Also I do have some of the nail powders and glitters and they are great dont need much either. Colours are very pretty.

    Such a lovely piece. A mould that can’t be rushed 🙂. Do think this would be an easier mould to remove if it was say twice the size?

    • @miniscenesgb
      @miniscenesgb  Рік тому +1

      Might be yes. Wouldn't that be a lovely make too. I think it's just tricky because the branches are thin so could be easy to snap. Using the reverse demould seemed to work well though, just a case of taking my time

    I'm playing a game where I count how many things I can see you missed coloring in this mold and wondering whether you'll notice before you add the resin. I'm about 11 minutes in (you just finished the flowers) and I've counted one leaf and three birds missed so far, at least on what part of the mold can be seen, lol. It is a fiddly, detailed mold so I'm not really surprised. 😉
    Edit: And you caught one bird a minute later. 😄 And then a second bird and the leaf. 😆 Last bird found by coloring it brown. 😂

      @@miniscenesgb Turned out really pretty in the end! I actually like the multicolor bird best. 😁👍 Mixing colors for the birds might be a good idea for your next try, even though it would take longer. Same with the leaves maybe. I think if you put some of the green you used here and actually mix it in little pots with other shades of green (one darker, one more yellow and maybe one jewel tone, possibly even a neon if you want to be adventurous) and do a gradient of darkest nearest the bottom trunk to lightest near the top and edges, you'd get a very nice effect but still keep some of the chrome look. Could be interesting to try. 😇

    I find the cure is better in cold climates compared to hot climate we have in Australia, in fact on cold days it takes 2 day to cur our where it can cure in one day in warmer days. Plu I use blow touch and bar bar que lighter and haven’t have problems with either you just are a lot quicker with blow touch. Still love your items.

    • @miniscenesgb
      @miniscenesgb  Рік тому

      Yes similar findings here. i do use the blow torch, just give it a quick click and try to stat away from the silicone. The long neck lighter is an easy option, and alcohol spray works too. In terms of heat - around 21 degrees C seems the most predictable. we're having a heatwave now and I'm getting deep pour to cure in 12 hours.

      Just a spray silicone lubricant. I show it in some of the videos. I think silicone release spray is similar, there's usually a link for that in the description. I'll check later today when I get home and make sure there's links for both in the description of this video for you .
