To bad no sound !! The video of this great period of 1st/2nd Gen Diesels was so great, my favorite time Railfanning and all the Railroads were mostly there !! 👍
I recall Burlington Northern having some E units with green cabs, black rooves, but still with the Burlington silver sides, with green, "BN," stenciled on them. It was a hasty, "make-do," kind of paint scheme, but it looked nice. They never used silver on any of their other units, to my knowledge, but the trainset manufacturer, Bachmann, had Burlington Northern GP50 locomotives with the silver roof.
Seeing E units got me into trainwatching. Seeing mostly F units on the C&NW commuters during the day in Elmhurst, they'd bring out some E units for the evening rush hour. And No. 1 westbound (the former Kate Shelly 400) had an E7. I then saw that the Burlington commuter engines had 6 axles, and I was hooked.
I very much liked the shots of the Burlington/BN East End, and the shots of the dinkeys. That’s where I started my railroad career. Unfortunately the E9 fleet had recently been retired.
Great footage! Have spent my whole life in DuPage County (67 years) and recognize many of these places. Westmont station is about a 20 minute walk from my house, and I grew up in Villa Park so I saw many a C&NW rumbling by. Thanks for posting!
The footage is awesome because I always like watching that kind of stuff. However I'm not getting any sound. If there's no sound it's have to feeding the purpose even though it's probably bad sound and recording at the time. Other than that, love the footage

Marvelous time travel! Tanx for sharing.
glad you liked the video
Don't know how I missed this one!😁 Classic!
that's my most popular video!
Great color resolution in these. What a variety of paint schemes around back then.
The amount of change downtown Chicago has gone through is absolutely crazy, and it is very cool to see old videos like this
I really wish I was alive when they still had the E-units, that would have been nice.

CNW Devils lake footage is Awsome
Thanks. Others came there for the lake or picnic grounds, but the highlight for me was a C&NW train!
@@josephcipar3666 I appreciate the memories since I worked for the CNW and how about those wigwags there also .😎

Mr. Cipar… you make me 12-14 years old again here👍🏻❤️🚂

Good to see trains without graffiti.

There's no audio
No audio. Couldn't afford sound on film as a high school kid.
Okay
Why don’t you dub sound into the film
Where am I going to get recordings of a Fairbanks Morse H12-44-TS?
