You have no idea how much you've taught me, I truly appreciate it.
Nicole Black thank you for watching!
appreciate you giving out sauce. that’s what separates you from other youtube producers.. you’re real.
Woky thanks! I share what I learn, so many amazing talented individuals online and in studios
I always use limiting not clipping..now its time to use all of the methods..... thanks mate
Yo straight up, I didn't know you had an audio engineering background. That's hype!
A lot of people are drawn to composing and arranging, but there's something to be said about the technical work behind it all! 💎
Titans Tracks yes sir, it’s were i first started. thank you for supporting!
I was testing with standard clip and i love it, but i don't have money yo Buy it, and with the soft Clipper from fl studio it's the same OMG it's amazing and it's free 🙏🏻
Nothing beats 5 soundgoodizers on the master B')! Great Video bro
KXNIL 💀
XD XD XD
I know this video is older but I wanted to say that I love your mix here! the low end is really smooth and the mids are perfect with a crystal-y sounding pleasant top end. really nice :D
Thank you!🙏
This is all stuff I didn't know before bro! Thanks!
Nanosh thanks for watching!
You improved my Mixing Anf Mastering skill...... Bro.....
This video is gold! ❤️
Glad you explained the low end issue. I recommend using Fabfilter's proQ software to audition the frequencies that are being chopped off. Most times than not, anything between 30-0 Hz will get chopped off.
AkZeNT love pro q 2
I be sleeping on the band solo function in Pro Q...I should really use it a lot more to hear exactly what lives where
Appreciate the knowledge as always LIfestyle. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Tutorial on stereo separation and how to avoid phasing? 🤔
good!
@@oompaloompa3188 I'm sure that Lifestyle will grant our wishes 🙏🏼
Yes please, stereo mixdown tutorial are so underrated
thats easy use the pan and a correlation meter. Phasing has to be avoided on a per track basis.
Thank you so much man
Alex Kongor thanks for watching!
@@LifeStyleDidIt no problem man thanks to you
Hey man your tips helped a lot in my productions 👽 💙
Thanks bro 💙
This video is very interesting but my only question is this the best way mix en master?
PMC Beats hey thank you!
This video is literally just showing 2 ways you can use to increase your overall volume of your mix! I’m gonna be diving deeper into material but I have been asked many times “how can you increase overall volume after gain staging a mix” so I made this very simple video to start the series
@@LifeStyleDidIt the information you gave to us in this video is super I learn a lot but I will like to know how can we use Maximus to master our beats
thank you for your time and your dedication to us I appreciate your hard work end dedication to teach us Can you make a shoute out @pmconthebeat
Let's Go ! This Was Probably My Biggest Question Post My First Album Release. I have since then been learning the importance of the master limiter and the final final equalizing. That being said at that point only 3+- dbs is what im working with and those 3 dbs icing on the cake.
just bought waves L1 the other day cuz of you lol, they owe u a sponsorship 🤣 now i'm actually trying to buy that RMS meter too but can't find it
GHOSTBOY SWIFT get an LUFS meter ! You can find good free ones too.
I also recommend fab filter pro L it’s an amazing limiter
Thank you so much for this video man! My question has been answered
This video is more than enough for anyone who isn't subbed, to sub right now! You made it really easy for anyone to understand.
thank you so much!
This video was very helpful bro! The beat you used was also insane 🔥😭 the melody has a strong vibe. Keep grinding tho man
God Bless you and all reading this !
Kado Beats thank you so much! Glad to help
You're actually a good teacher my dude
khanspiracy thanks!
That JST clipper changed my life lol I’ve been using it for a couple months now thanks man!
I.G. On The Beat man creates gold
You got good speech and knowledge bru. Appreciate it. Bless. Peace.
Thank you!
Just watched two videos and you got a new subscriber, great work man and I look forward to your next vid

Insane tips in here thanks so much
youre always very clear on your videos, thanks
Glad you like them!
Yo lifestyle bro can you make a video on what your top 5 or 10 mixing and mastering vsts?
thats a great idea, imma neeeeeed that
i like the last one :]]]
“When the kick gets soft back it off”
Awwh yeah,
Words to live by baby!
Thanks for covering both subjects, learned some new tricks I can’t wait to try!

You explained this so well dude.
ShaaQ thanks!
Thanks for the tips.
You make complex things very easy to understand
Very helpful 🙏🙏 thank you❤️
I appreciate everything you are doing to make me the DBest... Much respect to you bro.... Thank you sir......
Daniel Benstowe thanks for supporting Daniel!
Thanks a lot for the tutorial!
Didier de Groot thanks for watching!
Amazing video, cheers 🙌
Hey man, just wanted to know a few things:
1. Do you produce with a limiter on your MASTER or just add the limiter at the end?
2. Do you keep your Master Rack at 0db all the time while mixing? And if you bounce the WAV out, do you bounce it out at 0db or e.g -6db to add even more headroom?
Thanks for the awesome videos!
Thashil Lutchmeenarrain im trying to find out that same answer too lol its a simple question but i cant seem to find anyone telling me this
1. I personally add the limiter at the end to kinda level everything a little bit and just make the whole master listenable
2. While mixing I recommend you to keep the loudest part of your mix (like the end stage of it) at like -6 db so you have enough headroom to master afterwards
Flawless as usual. Any chance of breaking down transient processors and the different applications? Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Yes I will be covering that soon
Gold nuggets here 💎💎💎🔥 thanks for the tips!!!
That's Phantom thanks for watching!
good shit bro. love all your vids and this one really helped me understand the mixing side a little more, which is what i’ve been trying to get better at. keep grinding
With all the misinformation around ur channel has been very helpfull in making it easy to spot the real from the fake...👊👊👊🔥👈
Is a Ultra Maximizer a limiter and a clipper put together? Great video by the way.
I'm finaly early thanks for this info I really needed this😭💯
Gdulz Beats haha thank you!
Thank you man, you're a beat beast
Lucas Bicske thanks!
MY MIX BOUT TO BE AS LOUD AS THIS COMMENT🔥🔥🔥
ClassE Beats 😂
I'm hearing nothing.
peace out 🤔gotta upgrade them headphones fam
@@ClassEBeats are you saying something?
I got the JST. It’s killer!
Love the information! Thank you for doing this for us:)
Much love for these vids❤️
Lately been confused about mixing a bit
Should I 1) change channels volume (everything under -6db) without touching masters volume 2) change masters volume (everything under -6db) without touching channels volume 3) gain staging
Aprecciate the knowledge thanks dude!
Darbzzz thanks for watching!
Love these videos. Keep it up 👍 would like some tips on how to make melodies sit together without clashing (seperation, ect )
Thanks for this content, you help a lot
Erik William thanks for watching it!
This guy is always 🔥
LS, Is there a difference in quality between the Soft Clipper & JST ? (i don't like Soft Clipper "sound")
It’s always gonna preference! Joey Sturgis is a metal producer and is known for very in your face mixes, so his plugins always have that touch to them
@@LifeStyleDidIt Got it. Thanks for the feed B
Great tutorial
I learned a lot for improving my beats 🙏🔥💯💪
That JST plugin is hard definitely going to try it. Also like your EQ volume boost before the clipper for checking GR. Dope as always bro keep em coming for everyone
Gravy Muzik thanks bro!
Great video, I see I been using the soft clippers all wrong lol thanks
Thanks for the tips Lifestyle ! 🔥
Should MP3 & WAV leases be left with headroom like trackouts or be fully mastered/limited ?
HVLLI I leave headroom for anything that goes to the artist
@@LifeStyleDidIt Thank you !
My master is slick EQ and Limiter No. 6 using all the components very lightly but the HF Limiter, only because I have no idea what that one does and my ears don't notice anything so I don't use it. But Limiter No 3 and Slick EQ was a game changer for me. Both are free. I'm still no master engineer but my shit sounds way better than it did before I started using them. I try to stay away from maximizers. Simply because I feel like I don't have enough control over them and they always seem to leave artifacts I don't like.
I'm actually thinking about starting to produce and mix into my mastering chain.
What if LifeStyle Didn't? 🤔🤔
It wouldn’t be LifeStyle(;
ProdSharma 😂🤦🏾♂️
a world of menvce yooo wtf🤯😰
He’d just be a male model
Thats deep
a good clipper or limiter allow you to shape the tops of the transients and this is where the magic happens.
hey, can you explain how the limiter makes songs louder if its supposed to reduce the dynamics and reduce gain? Isn't that the opposite of getting louder volume? Good video, thanks!
I never realized the correct way to use soft clipping on my 808s. So before the soft clipper is on I want my 808 going over 0db turning the volume up on the parametric EQ? And do you leave the volume at default on the channel rack?
Thanks man !!!!!!
Jagannath Padhy thanks for watching!
I never sub but homeboy so likable
J B thanks bro!
Great video
Erik MacLean thanks!
Fab Filter Pro L and some limiters use Gain instead of Threshold, but it serves the same purpose...the harder you push it, the more gain reduction
Nice bro 👍
tbsprod1 thanks!
Appreciate It Bro 🤙
yo lifestyle, what mixing headphones would you recommend?
1:20 I also usually take out the very highest frequencies too, like 19,000hz+
U recommend? I do that too but idk why i should. Maybe to filter out the very harsh stuff
@@TheSecondC2 I personally think it sounds a bit (if barely noticeably different) though it it easy to go to far down and get that low pass filter sound. But yeah, as far as I can tell it also creates that extra little bit of room in the mix
bro you are soo positiv guy ;) really Motivates mee to make musik ;) thx for your every time good contennt
Demien Records thank you for supporting!
@@LifeStyleDidIt every time my friend🏆
3:00 +++ LIMITER 7:00 JST 8:00 EQ as a volume boost
Can you do a vocal tutorial on the EQ and one for auto tune?
MICHAEL TUANAI I have one up for EQ! Actually a few
Everytime I cut out the frequencies below 20 hz the db on the master raises 3 db. That makes no sense to me so idk if it's normal
Manbir it’s the resonance bump from the filter. When a high pass or low pass is applied this happens! If you look into EQ filters, you can find some cool articles that will show what I’m talking about
@@LifeStyleDidIt Ooo alr then thanks
When you cut the freqs below 20 Hz you are also getting rid of the associated harmonics that extend above 20 Hz which can often destructively interfere and suppress your main program level. So by getting of these low freqs (and DC offset) your overall level can restore and raise in level.
plz tell us which effect plugin pack we should buy plzz tell😍😥😏😍
I use a little of both. Most times my master chain goes like this: light compression, Eq, some soft clipping (I use fruity wave shaper for this, and then light limiting, all while trying to keep as much dynamic range as possible while still hitting around -12 to -13db LUFS. I actually do this on a mix bus vs the master. Why? So if anyone buys the stems they can do their own mastering or use mine as a reference. I know your technically not supposed to master beats but I do so it sounds good to people who just like to Listen to instrumentals.
on the L1 does the auto release button turn blue when it's on or is it the other way around ?
DO YOU HAVE TO DO PARALELL COMPRESION WHEN USING VST INSTRUMENTS
I swear dude. I was looking this sh*t up yesterday
Hey man... Can you name another plugin for clipping from another company? like Waves or Fabfilter?
Does the clipper have to be on the 6th Slot?
i can definitely hear a significant difference when cutting out everything under 20 hz
My chords often spike and to narrow the dynamic range i place a limiter on them. Yet, they still spike. So, what is the reason. Thanks man, for the great work you have been doing to help upcomers like us.
I have a question! Why are you using rms for metering? LUFS are more precise :D And as a clipper I also recommend to check TRS classic clipper.
Thanks for good video! :D
So my 808 kicks (example) using 2. (not the bassy ones) distort when velocity is high. but if I lower them then they don't have that kick sound I want. It sounds great no distortion whats so ever on my speakers and even in my car but on my earbuds its the heaviest clip distortion and it feels like ive tried everything from lowering velocity, compressors, MB compressing, limiting, EQ
Cory Kingbreaker more time bro it’s just the 808s you’re using. I used to get this problem a lot!. One thing that helped me was choosing the 808 (good quality 808’s like foreign teck kits for example) before the kick. This way you can better hear how the kick will sound with the 808. I always keep the velocity levels on the 808 at the default level and just make it loud when I’m levelling / gain staging the overall mix by blending it into the kick. MB compressors won’t do much for the 808 except help control it overall in the mix but MB compression is very intricate and can easily ruin the mix. Also watch lifestyles video on 808 distortion he got some dope tips!. Follow me on IG @thewavebeats I can send you a video of what I mean 👌🏽
It's actually a lot more than putting a limiter or clipper or both to get it "louder". Most people think making things louder is about trying to push decibels or making other frequencies louder. It's totally not that whatsoever. It's about Fletcher Munson curves and the ability to skillfully write the song with specific fundamentals. It sucks that no one calling themselves audio engineers are actual engineers for anything.
thank you
thanks for watching!
Everyone seems to say that the -8 dB RMS/LUFS is the target point, when most of commercial releases are -6 or even less (for edm) and still sounds relatively clean and punchy... Haven’t seen any tutorials covering this kind of mastering.
Dope tutorial lifestyle! Do you use ozone for mastering?
ItsJonnoBeats thank you! I personally don’t
If your doing this in the mastering chain with the softclipper won’t it mean you don’t have any head room to push your limiter because it’ll be sitting at about -0-0.5db ?
nedeed this thx
How I get my beats louder:
Hard beats: clipping
Soft beats: limiting
🤔
Filip S it makes sense bro
Because when a sound clips , it distorts . So that making it sounding "hard hitting" .
Not true :) limiting can be used in hard beats too
the outro beat hard af
Really cool video.
Thank you very much!
But I gotta a question: I have seen some good professionals claiming to be better to use clipper nowadays because they (companies) improved them (clippers) a lot. And this is bringing better results than limiters.
And as you've said, it's about taste and goals.
But, do you keep the same approach? I mean, clippers are worse than limiters?
I'm asking this because that's what is very clear after your video.
I mean, you were about to junmp and sing after the limiter and almost threw up after the clipper. :-)))
The best word you've used about clipping was "disgusting"... (hehehehe)
I agree with you about clppers and transient smashing...
But I have to say that they are sounding better...
...and maybe you should give them a second try...
Maybe all we need is to be wealthy to grab this - Weiss DS1-MK3
What If We Used Both Clipper And Limiter? Oh And Alse Eq In The Master
Would this method be the same on vocals
So do you do this before you master?
