I just love grubs. Some of the things I like about them are, they work on pretty much every species of fish, you can fish it in almost every way, lots of people don’t throw them so fish are typically not used to seeing them. And they are usually pretty dang cheap.
Tyler, I do a lot of ultra light/multi species fishing in ponds with small plastics (curly tail or paddle tail) on jigs. I am in North Carolina and with the crazy weather we have had this late winter/spring, the bite has been tough to figure out. I have, and it's no big secret, started to tip my jigs with the Berkley Crappie Nibbles and testing it against not using them. 10 casts at a time without and then 10 casts with the nibbles. There is no doubt that they attract more bites no matter what soft plastic you use. I will get 3 - 4X more hits on the jig when tipping it with the crappie nibbles and they catch everything in the pond. Another big help is that I have started using the Mule Fishing Bronco Blade (Their version of and much better than the Beetle Spin). That Bronco Blade, with a small 1-1/2" - 2" soft plastic on a 1/32 oz or 1/16oz jig, tipped with a crappie nibble is money!!! I have had my best days fishing (numbers not catching giants) by using this method. The best soft plastics that I have used is the Strike King 2" Mr Crappie slabalicious paddle tail with a dark body with a chartreuse paddle tail, also the Mister Twister 2" double tail grub (Black- chartreuse) works great as well.
