We naturally were running long so we never got to the 2nd bullet point of the league quarter century team. The NHL will take all the players who make their respective Team 1's and select the 25 best players for the quarter century team. Any Avs that should make it?
@qp2044 Sid and Ovi are locks, and for the league team I think they are taking 25 guys. Not the Team 1, Team 2 format of 3 forwards, 2 dmen and a goalie.
@LockedOnAvalanche fair point. Once you start adding more penguins, blackhawks, and lightning ( not to mention the obligatory McDavid spot) that it is going to be very tight for any of the one cup avs players. Mackinnon probably has the best chance
this is an interesting exercise. My first thought is the best players during the 25 years rather than simply the biggest contributors during the 25 years. No shot I would have anyone above Roy though. Also there is no justification for Makar to not be on D pair 1. He is already the best D man in franchise history. I suppose my team would be Mackinnon, Sakic, Hejduk, Makar, Foote, Roy. Team 2 would be Mikko, Landy, Foresberg, EJ, Blake, and Varly
He only played 3 seasons in the new century, which is the only reason why I didn't put him on Team 1. He's the best goalie in history, but to be on Team 1 needed more years after 2000
@ if we’re picking team of the century that would be comparing this current team to previous multi cup teams. So yeah more than one cup. So far these guys are a one hit wonder.
@@edtpnw1336 but you're creating your own metric here. There's nobody on the Avs that has two cups with the team since the year 2000. So you wouldn't be able to fill this out at all.

Roy, Sakic, Forsberg (you boys are so *young*), MacKinnon, Makar
@matambale have to remember this is from 2000 on. It's almost impossible to exclude Hejduk from the top team considering that.
Sakic and mack have a chance but players like sid and ovi have better cases

Ozo's last year with the Avs was 99-00. He wasn't on 2001 cup team. First team defense, Makar and Foote. Second team, Blake and Lyles.

💯
Anybody that puts Kuemper in would have to also put Bourque in for the same reason.
Which is why I excluded them both
Roy should be on team one. I thought you boys were joking. Only thing better than Roy at net would be 1" thick steel welded to the face of the frame.

Picking any defenseman other than Cale is crazy work
Anyone that does is probably a Canucks fan
Coach 2 would be Hartley, no?
Yea probably
Hejduk over foppa??
From the year 2000 on, yea. And Forsberg is probably my favorite player. Stats are stats. And like I said, Lemieux is on Pittsburgh's team 2.
Johny probably aging like bourbon lol!
This is a joke everyone. I started buying it until varly over the best goalie in history.
No Forsberg hahahahaha OK.
Only had 3 seasons post 2000, and because of that other Avs had better stats. This wasn't based on popularity or overall status
To be on the list you must have more than one cup hoisting. Everyone else stop crying and play harder.
More than one?

@ That’s what I’m saying. This team wouldn’t even be considered. Overrated and underachieving.
@@edtpnw1336 it's crazy we live in a world where winning just one championship isn't enough anymore as if it's an easy thing to do
