    On the pp thing, it was kinda eye-opening, when u see how Edmonton and McDave play the powerplay, and then our own powerplay, we looked like statues in compare to edmonton.

    I remember having this same conversation last year, "dont they want home ice? Why arent they flipping the switch yet?" Turns out they truly didnt give a crap about home ice and home ice is pointless in hockey. They are definitely in the Tampa mindset, frustrating as heck as a fan but i think its really hard for these guys whove been there done that to get up for the entire regular season.
    The Hockey Guy called it the dog days of the season for alot of good teams, right around the all star break ish you see alot of inconsistencies

    landy is what’s missing. Having the leadership and presence that Gabe brings is so important for getting back to the Avs we know and love. Toews and Mack can only keep everyone so accountable before we breakdown.

    The scoring chances, minus the power play, are a plenty. The thing that has me pulling my hair out is that every opposing goalie plays like they're the leading candidate for the Vezina trophy.

    I wouldn't hate to see the avs go back to the Ryan O'Reilly well again. This team drastically needs someone who can be a positive in terms of faceoffs. 13 goals and 27 points in 43 games with a faceoff win percentage of 55. At $4.5 million for two more years too. Seems perfect

    JB: "You get the pom-poms out. That's what you do. You're a cheeleader, you know? What are you gonna do? If we can't, like, its not a lack of try. Its just, you don't have the legs, whatever the reason is, I don't know, you gotta ask them, but we gotta find a way. That game reminded me of the Chicago game."

    • @petrpumpkineater
      @petrpumpkineater 8 днів тому +1

      Next Q asks: why recently a good effort followed by not? After fumbling his words again, JB says, "I don't have an answer for that."
      Clearly, JB starts pulling back the curtain, then catches himself. He wants to say more but can't. His job is to protect the privacy of the locker room, but also his own career interests.
      95% of hockey quotes are rehearsed & recycled, but 5% is the real juice & imo this postgame presser provided this 5% of real talk.

    Also, we all know Bednar doesn’t speak a single word or show any emotions during a game. So when that is happening in a game when the AVS are sucking it up, the entire team has no team leader to look up to or to hold players accountable for their mistakes.

      Totally agree man, all these guys are quiet and kind of moody. I don't see anyone that is passionate and outspoken. If you gave the effort as they did in the last game Landeskog would be all over your arse and or he would just give you that look in between periods and you would know that is not good enough. They need a C-type player in the locker room to lead. Non of our stars seem to be that guy. Wedgewood seems to provide some of that on the level that Cogs did, but it doesn't seem to be enough. Maybe they can find someone like that at the trade deadline?

  • @LA-ly9mq

    The power play struggles begin with Nate. Not the coach. Look at how Nate is playing on the PP. He's not moving his feet. He does that stupid little slice and dice where he moves his stick 8 million times just to keep the puck in the same spot which isn't tricking anybody. He's forcing passes to the bumper or across to Mikko when there's no lanes available which ends up in a clear of the zone. He is not strong on the puck so the opposing PK is willing to pressure him out high which they normally don't do.
    He's not even shooting the puck himself most times. He's not being dangerous. I've seen at least three times in the last handful of weeks where he had a wide open net for his patented one timer, and instead he chose to do the annoying little fake one timer and try to pass it.

  • @jas0nd3an
    @jas0nd3an 8 днів тому

    What could he bring??? He still scores over a point per game. He wins a massive percentage of faceoffs. And he would provide leadership. And once he retires we’d be able to bring in someone else with open cap.

    Winning the division, or having the best record in the West is no longer a priority. Making the playoffs is the only thing they are motivated to do. There is no team below them threatening their position in the playoffs. They need Nichushkin back and give the "C" toToews. I hate to say this, but coaching may be getting stale from the players perspective. BTW, I can't believe Landy is ever coming back.

    Two goal scorers. Two players that can shoot and snipe.similar.to how we had Kadri and burakovsky in the past. Cut Girard and trade mitts and they will have the money.

    The faceoff issue is a seemingly small part of the game. I don't think it is. When going on the powerplay, we never win the first faceoff. As a result, we burn 20-30 seconds right off the bat. Let's be honest. It baffles me that they allow Mac to take every faceoff (but God forbid anyone says anything negative about him). Millions and millions of dollars are on the ice and we don't have anyone who can execute one of the fundamentals of the game. It's the little things that decide many games. Frustrating.

    I completely disagree this guy thinks Crosby isn’t a difference maker. He’s still a top 10 player imo. He’s a dominant defensive C an doesn’t need to give us 100+ points that’s not what we’d need. I say go for him and Ben if it means giving up mitts or rant

    First, we need to get rid of nichushkin, i like his skill level but the man can't stay in the lineup and is a distraction. Second, forget about landeskog, even if he comes back he will never be the player he used to be and his situation is yet another distraction. Third, we have to many small puck moving defensemen. I love the addition of Keaton Middleton but imo girard needs to go. Fourth, i agree with the other guy who said that middlestadt isn't the answer at second line center. I like caseys compete level but his skill level is sorely lacking.

    Girard and Manson need to go. They're one of the worst pairings in the league. It doesn't appear Middlestadt is the 2c solution they were hoping for. I'd love to see kadri or sid plugged in there, but they're aging and would only be good for a couple of seasons. Mikko is great, but we could get 2 real solid players for 14m/yr. Landeskog most likely will never return, and one has to wonder how much longer management is going to delay the inevitable.

      If you look at it though, it's been bad for two months. They started the season a top 3 unit. Last year were #5 and the year prior were #6 in the league. That's what I mean when I say we are going to fire the same guy who was capable of getting that production for full seasons and because it's been a bad two months show him the door? We always jump to that answer which to me isn't always the right one.

    The Crosby trade proposal isn't that bad. What do we lose? Miles Wood? Who cares? Kivi has taken his place. Guli? Who cares? Lol. Mittens? Again, WHO CARES? IT'S SID CROSBY. We tried to fix 2c.. look, I like Middlestat, he isn't it. Kadri was it. We need a reliable 2c who isn't gonna vanish like a ghost when it counts. Mittens has already shown he will do that, and there's no fixing it. Get rid of him. This team is going nowhere atm. I bet you without looking Crosby is better at faceoffs, too. But who cares? Who you trusting? Crosby or Mittens on a D zone draw? Gabe isn't coming back. Use that money to make Sid fit. Go for it. Ask Rantanen to take a discount to win or take a hike. He doesn't drive the play, we can get 2 other guys for 7m who shoot left to rip one timers from Macks hard work. Why is this even a conversation? When was the last time you watched Mikko CREATE a play from the corner and make moves and do something? He doesn't. Marner does. Different players but I digress.. you can find a left handed SHOOTER to play Mikkos spot and he won't cost as much. Use the other 7m for another D guy. Just load up and fukking go for it. These guys aint getting any younger.. and you might as well run it while it's hot. We got Blackwood locked up, cap going up, etc.. this is a shot to have Mack, Makar, Crosby, Toews, etc. win multiple cups in a short span. There's 2 or 3 more cups in this group if you just go for it. Every team has to rebuild at some point, it's not worth it to be in perpetual motion when it comes to balance.. trust me i'm a lifelong Sharks fan and lived there my entire life til recent. Doug Wilson was content just making the playoffs, and staying "good" til next year.. that's not the goal. Enough. GO FOR IT. Where's Malinsky? Just give him up at this point. Use him to add to something else. Middleton is terrible, and shouldn't be on the ice when the PO's start. Sean Walker was really good in his time here.. would be come back, and would the Flyers be willing to work with us? LFG

      @drysiftwizard3469 yes it is. The Avs are sacrificing a 2C, a solid depth player, 2 prospects, and a 1st for what? A guy that while good, maybe has 2-3 years left in him. Not worth it at all.
