Lapu Lapu on Mactan Island is the main city on the island across the bridge from Mandaue City and Cebu City. These 3 cities are called the Tri-Cities of Cebu. Mactan Newtown is a multi-use development consisting of several condominiums, commercial, restaurants, hotels, and retail businesses. Mactan Newtown Beach area is in the process of additional development also. It is located near the Mactan Cebu International Airport. There is a bus and transportation hug at the main entrance.

Nice video Rod. I think a lot of real estate prices are dropping. I was at Mactan Newtown Beach a few days ago and made a vlog it's quite far from the condos.

Would you consider doing a Video on Dental Vacations in Cebu City? I've read people who require extensive Dental Work can go to Cebu City and play $1-2K for the work that would cost in excess of 10K in the US. I've read the service provide is equal to what most people would get in the US. Perhaps you can interview a Dental Provider and provide an outline on how the services work and how long is the normal stay in Cebu City.
Hi. I had dentures made in Cebu. I have implants in my lower jaw and did take a bit of running around to find the right Dentist who understood implants for dentures. Implants for dentures is not common. Here the Dentists fits the denture not a dental tech like in NZ and Australia. My denture fit and quality is far better than I have had from NZ and Aussie. My wife had quite a bit of work done on her teeth. Crowns, bridge etc. The quality and matching her own teeth is amazing. When we get back I am going to have total bridged implants done.

Nice one Rod. It's great to watch your informative videos from cebu / mactan . Having being a frequent visitor there over the last 25 years , it's clear to see the vast changes to the area and infrastructure. Recently I acquired property at the alegria palms 1 subdivision with the intention to retire there in a few years time with my filipina wife of 21 years. Might see you one day ! . Keep up the good videos and show people the real side to life in the Philippines 🇵🇭.

Don’t you think once all restrictions are lifted, you won’t want to be anywhere around this location with one thousand flights a day taking off and landing over your head at the airport. Your walls will shake and you won’t be able to talk or sleep with the jet noise !!!!

i haven't been to Mactan Newtown personally but it has been developed really well i read online they are doing a beach mall which will be terrific - when travel restrictions are eased I intend to visit this place, Rod thank you i do enjoy your laid back style.

I really owe you a debt of gratitude and more realistically a big juicy steak Angus beef and a baked potato bread and butter and a side dish and a dessert for all your efforts if you allow me to treat you. I'm getting tired of the cactus and all the short-haired poorly women with tons of baggage so with that in mind we should see you as soon as things open up my friend. I'm sure we will have a lot to talk about. You are a true pioneer. Your sources of information like you said we're not existent before you came online. It truly is amazing. Amazing Philippines. Short-haired portly women old hippie types. Femininity has gone out the window here. To be honest I haven't dated a woman here in 6 years. The men are so weak here they get hen pecked I see it all the time. There's no way I would hook up with a woman here I need an island girl I need a Filipina makeover. See if I can get my system firing on all cylinders again. A friend of mine there told me you don't come to retire you come to rejuvenate I believe he's right he would know he's been there 12 years north of dumaguete.
It does get hot in Phoenix, but it is a "dry" heat, kind of like sticking your head in an oven. Haha. I have adapted to the humidity here and many days are not too bad at all Robert. I understand the female issue in much of the states. I will say that there are plenty of strong willed females here and it is a bit of a challenge with the language differences in Filipino English...but it is worth it if you find the right one. Looking forward to meeting up. Safe travels.
Rod, i completely agree, this pandemic has negatively impacted the livelihoods and the economy! will the borders of the Philippines be open for Christmas 2021?
I certainly think they need to open up by Christmas but I had been optimistic for much of a year only to be disappointed.
Fully open without restrictions, I do not think so. Maybe christmas 2022. Even if they would open up ny christmas, would you gamble and book a trip when they can close down again a week after they have open up?
Should I live in Mactan Newtown or Cebu City (near Ayala)? I've watched videos and read opinions and still not sure. I would probably spend more time going from Mactan to Cebu than I would going the other way. I think I would enjoy the relative peace and quiet and cleaner air of Mactan Newtown better for living. So it's still not obvious where the best place would be to live.

You got any information on the balikbayan boxes and cost?
I will have to do some research Jonathan. There are a few sized boxes you can use and no weigh limit I think, but be careful not to pack so heavy they break. Costs start fairly low below $100 USD to over 100 I think. It might take a month or longer to arrive as the agent waits until they have a container full I think.
Not yet have mall in mactan newtown in that area I think in soon 👍

How does the process work in Cebu City and how long is the usual stay in Cebu City. Will you receive quality service?

Great video as always Rod. I looked at a couple apartments at Mactan Newtown. I remember stopping at several of the stores you drove by back then, so nice memories. The apartments as I recall were very nice, and the studio’s were just shy of being able to be called one-bedrooms in some cases as they had a glass partition. I remember thinking that it wouldn’t take too much effort to take out the glass and put in wallboard and make it a true one-bedroom. Sizes weren’t too bad. Come from Hong Kong now they are great, but from Canada/US a little small (but not bad).

Thanks for sharing your experience Drew. There is a "small house" trend going in some USA areas as many cannot afford houses. Asian homes seem to be a bit smaller also.
