Good morning Amazing Philippines, me and my wife is running a new channel we have some videos up and running, would like to know some advise from you on how we can increase our subscribers, Would really appreciate it, Thank you so much
Good morning Lee. I think there are another dozen or more vloggers in the PH every month so the competition is tough. My channel has grown slowly but steadily and I really do not have any good advice or I would be changing what I do probably. Some people are entertainers, some girls try to use bikinis and smiles. It helps some and not others so it can be a finicky market. UA-cam is what did you do for me today. Good luck.
Rod I have been there I see a dentist in Lapu Lapu city..I stay at the Bella Vista hotel, near the new bridge to Cebu city. I go over to the city to the malls, etc. I took a bus to Dumaguete to stay there and saw Bud Brown.. I need to see the dentist, as I have broken 2 teeth and she made me partials..that need to be redone. Due to the lockdown I may have to wait until 2021
Nice video Rod, as a healthy senior living in Cordova, Mactan Island I hope you are right about us being able to go out in June. I am running out of things to keep me sane.
Yes Rod, a long time ago after coming out of the NZ Army, i served as a Traffic Cop for several years, so one can imagine my horror at the standard of driving when i first visited the Phils in 1999. I really felt unsafe as a passenger particularly on the main north highway where bus and hire drivers thought nothing of overtaking on winding roads and no passing lines meant nothing, or tricycles getting along at 50kph holding up lines of faster moving traffic, and oblivious to what is behind them. I agree with you, considering the sometimes reckless way they drive, i saw very few accidents in my travels there. Occasionally i helped render assistance to injured motorcyclists that i came across when traveling between Cebu and points north. Often times, my wife standing back was asked if i was involved in the accident. If a foreigner is involved in an accident, almost always it will cost the foreigner money, sometimes even if they are not at fault as happened to a friend originally from Ca.,who felt obligated to pay something, though i had been following and saw the accident, i advised him he was not at fault with a motorcycle overtaking him on the inside and colliding with my friends ute. He paid up to keep the LTO cops happy at Liloan. Bob.
LOL. I certainly can relate to your experience Bob. I adapted and accepted it for what it is pretty quickly. I did search for damages on vehicles and was very surprise at how little I saw. I know of a couple of expats who paid up also for events that were not their fault. It is an unfortunate situation. Stay warm with the blast of cold you are getting.
Another great video Rod. Spent a month in the Manila/Cavite area except for a week in Baguio last year. I was using pretty much the same cab driver for getting around. I said to him one day “Rommel, if this was the states we would have already had several road rage incidents with people pulling out guns. He just laughed and said “Only in the Philippines”. Didn’t see one accident the whole time I was there and traffic was horrible all the time.
Thanks Mike. The culture here is much more laid back and tolerant but I do see more long honks and occasionally have a taxi driver get as close to the next vehicle so motorbikes cannot squeeze by. Much better attitude overall.
Nice to see it looking the”old” normal Rod, that was a nice ride. I rent a scooter most places that I visit, but I wouldn’t ride in Cebu City, it can be crazy, and I’ve seen a few riders in accidents. I’m ok with habal habal , although now and then you can get one who’s not very good and safe. I haven’t tried Angkas yet, have you ? Keep well and stay safe.
I miss the old normal Brian. I have used Angkas several times. They have to go through a defensive driving course and seem to be a bit more safe and you know the rate when you book just like Grab.
Hi Rod, good too see night views in Mactan back in the day. There are questions about how habal habal drivers will work in the future--one passenger per ride with possibly some kind of plexiglass barrier between passenger and driver. In your limited travels out and about right now, I'm curious if you see many foreigners (expats) in the city? You think of many in the past that might just be short time tourists walking around the city and malls especially..
I have seen several expats around town Regina, over 60 but going out anyway to get what they need and often carrying bags. I have been surprised at how may tourists are still "stuck" here from other nations. Many running out of money and wanting to go home where they no longer have jobs probably. I have been listening to a lot of epidemiologists and other "experts" around the world and many think this will loose its strength just like most past viruses and then we will just live with it like so many other diseases that affect certain people every year. Hopefully, that will happen.
Thanks for the information. All your updates are very informational and I hope I can make it back into the Philippines. I booked a ticket Cathay Pacific leaving LAX on the July 1st I'm coming in to Cebu on the 3rd July
Question for ya Rod....my wife Norma has been stuck in Cebu for a couple months now. Originally she was to fly back to Ohio on 6Apr20, right now we are looking at 3Jun20. You think the chances are good, her first leg is Cebu to Inchon via Jin Air.
Good question David. The airlines PAL and others say they plan to start up in June based on expectation that the quarantine will be eased but the gov't needs to get their act together. Good luck.
I was cleaning up my hard drive and came across this. I take lots of video and probably have enough that I haven't used for a year or so. Relevant video but older.
Not sure if I can drive in the Philippines,it’s so crowded! When we go visit my in laws in Pennsylvania from Jacksonville ,my husband and i we take turn driving I get nervous if I am in between those big trucks but I love to drive in the highway with four lane hehe .I love using the cruise control so my legs can rest .
Nice videos. Please video from the fish market. I am interested in the most delicious grilled fish. Ask salespeople and experts. He asks for the name of the fish in the text. Thank you in advance for your efforts.
Hi, I’m interested in visiting there long stay, could you please recommend some reasonably priced and decent places for a single guy. Would really appreciate it. Plan on booking a flight as soon as they open up.
Thanks joey. I don't know what your budget is but I get much of my info from a couple of RE brokers. One email is arleneclavido613@gmail.com She has lots of info on available units of different sizes and price ranges.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 Ah, thanks. I was going to ask the same question. I thought that there was STILL a checkpoint after the bridge from Cebu City to Mactan and coming back. Is that still true? Or can I ride my motorbike over there now?
If you want to own and have a place in the Philippines it’s not a bad opinion just be cautious. Renting is nice but let’s say you want something that you can have it exactly the way like things or be able to leave your stuff in one place, that’s hard to do with rentals.
Hi Rod, I married a Filipina last year, and am planning to migrate there later this year. You have a number of immigration videos, but many are regards to expat retirees; can you point me to the ones pertaining to married foreigners? I have a feeling it might be a time consuming process, so I better get started; if you can help out .... Thanks, Anil
PAL airline has guide lines for international flights. Quarantine for 14 days. But will need a test on arrival On their website. Info from Steve Montelli.
Rod, my friend and I LOVE the Philippines!!! He's been there a twice and me once. So sad we can't be there now. My friend has some questions about relocating there. Do you have a FB account where we could private message you? We are very interested in obtaining your advice!!!
Rod 1 percent is 100,000 thousand you said 10% is 1 million you know in Australia we only have 25 million ans im in Adelaide its about one and half million people if i can help you answer questions i will help Rod been coming to Philippines since 1983
Thanks Kriss. My calculator says 100,000,000, one hundred million times 1% is 1 million though. Take care and stay warm with the cold spell you are getting.
Rod, I always cringe when the motorcycles and scooters pass on the right in your videos. I guess it's the "norm" there. It's interesting that what appears to total chaos to an outsider, has less incidents of road rage than the highly regulated U.S. public road ways. It didn't take long for some company to jump on the Vitamin D hype prevalent in the media lately. I came across a half hour long infomercial on the Travel Channel this A.M. They were pitching 5000 IU vitamin D pills. I looked up the U.S. Institute of Health recommendation on the subject and they suggest 400-800 IU per day depending upon age ( Increases up 800 IU) The fact that this infomercial was on the Travel Channel tells me that they're attempting to capitalize on the concerns of those with future international travel plans. I looked at the information for my multi vitamin and it delivers 800 IU. This doesn't even include dietary intake! I looked on Amazon and a bottle of 60 capsules retails for $34.95! People might as well flush $34.95 down toilet because that's where the majority of that 5000 IU's of vitamin D is ending up. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, however, I choose to research empirical clinically -based evidence to support my opinion. Take care, stay healthy. Daniel
Thanks Daniel. The best source of the hormone D is the sun. Darker skin and age decreased the efficiency. I try to spend 20 minutes 3+ times/week in shorts and no shirt to get D. There are different thoughts on what your level should be. Dr William Davis has done a lot of work with patients on this and other nutrition to solve health issues. Food source is another good source if you eat those foods. I have cut back my vitamin D intake for the sun.

Dude WAKE UP! You sound like you are constantly nodding off. The way your voice always trails off it's difficult to hear more than half without turning up the volume, then I get blasted when you start the next sentence. I would think someone who has made this many vids would have listened to at least a few, don't you know you are constantly doing this? SPEAK UP in the second half of your sentences, use volume equalization, or something. Geez.
@@dr.michaellittle5611 You mean more polite? Yes perhaps so. But I couldn't help but notice this guy has made hundreds of videos spanning 4 years, he must know how irritating this is to his listeners. And I presume, like most vloggers, he wants us to listen & subscribe. Yet there doesn't seem to have been any effort to change them. I can't listen to any of his vids without using headphones or constantly going up & down with the volume 500 times. I've had jobs that were less work than trying to hear everything he is saying. He seems to have a lot of good content here, but maybe this is one reason his channel isn't any larger after 4 years time. I agree, being polite is indeed the way most of the time. But occasionally someone could use a kick in the pants.
Thanks. I should probably try my more expensive mic also. I have noticed this more as on mic quite working and I went back to an older mic. I also have that tendency to change volume. I think my software has a solution to "fix" and level volume also. I am also a bit of a stoic.
