You bet Dirt Digger - we really appreciate your support. ❤️🙏👍
It's nice seeing some content that's not centered around how cheap can you live but how well can you live and a little more centered around a healthy lifestyle.
Thanks Duncan
I'm with you! I know what getting by is like, but how about living better and living well? Or else why make the journey to the other side of the world? I know that I do OK here, but could live like the rich over there. Fly Me To The PI makes many sober, compelling arguments for making the flight.
I was once a forward deployed 7th Fleet sailor who used to visit Subic Bay often back in the mid to late 1970s when I was a kid. We even spent a week on R&R in Dumaguete before heading out to the Indian Ocean, which I thought was a paradise and a world away from the insanity that was Subic Bay when there were more than a few ships in port.
Awesome video guys 👍
Thank you!

As a Filipino. I enjoyed watching this couple. They were a perfect match. It has been proven already age doesnt matter to be compatible with our filipinas. Treat them wholeheartedly well and faithfully and in return they will also twice as that...
Well, thanks for that feedback and I will take your advice

It’s great to see you guys having a good life in the Philippines, your videos are always so informative and an added bonus that you talk about CDO! I’m heading there for the first time in 6 weeks, can’t wait!
Hopefully the heat wave should be over. - hope to see you here
Thank you for information for those of us who want to see what a higher budget can provide there.

I believe that a single person having $1,500 US Dollars is sufficient. Having been stationed at Clark Air Base (Angeles) back in 1991 at age 28. Now age 61 and getting close to retirement. I am a widower, my children are grown now. I am considering moving to CEBU CITY or Makati Manila area. Retire under America 🇺🇸 military 🪖 Philippines sponsored SRRV program. Thank you for this video.

So happy I ventured to the Philippines 🇵🇭! Living in Angeles City now for 18 months.
Missing it very much as I am in the USA now visiting family and taking care of business!
Go to Baguio for 4 days if you have never been; fly to Clark and catch a direct bus from Dau bus station
Love the advice definitely thinking of doing it in the next month
@@FlyMeToThePhilippines if you do go. Get on the bus that goes on the expressway (T-Plex) to avoid all the stops on the old highway.
@@herbigp 👍 Thanks
Damn! I have not been though the old Clark Air Force Base since 1979. Even back then Baguio was pure bliss.
You have already encouraged me. I have just booked accommodation for January next year. I look forward to hearing your tips from your journey. Thank you
Awesome thanks for the feedback. Let me know how we can help.
Well, everyone is different and you can't please everyone. I will definitely learn a lot from your next videos. But for an exploratory visit like mine, first of all it would be useful to know whether to rely only on credit/debit cards and withdraw cash. Or maybe it's worth bringing some euros in my case and exchanging them on the spot.
Only bring €200 in cash and rely on a debit card and a credit card that you keep locked up in the hotel safe get a second debit card that has no foreign transaction fees and has a small balance when you leave to go outside in case you lose it
Thank you for the informative video. I may go that way in 4 or 5 years.
You can do it Mike
Always love the facts and stats u provide.......

Great Video with good info! You are making the next few years till I can go difficult!! 😅 And beach video is my vote!

Interesting perspective
What are the political views of the average Filipino
Honestly I don’t know and like it that way. They only seem focused 6 weeks before elections
Dear Chrissy and Rob - another interesting topic, who doesn't want more bang for their buck. But the prices are one thing, the infrastructure is another. I, for my part, have reached an age where I really appreciate everything working 100% around me all the time. I'm also not good at things that crawl around on floors and walls :-) Best regards from Denmark😂😂
Hi Ben great to hear from you again hope all is well in Denmark. It’s interesting those things crawling around I’ve gotten used to them

Great video Rob and Chrissy. Are there available places for rent in your area similar to what you have?
Not in my subdivision but many near by gated communities
You guys are tempting me hard. My initial plan was to live in Manila because my kids will need to take two exams per year in our embassy, but seeing how well you live in CDO and how dirt cheap are flights, I don't know anymore.
I guess I'll need to make a three-month exploratory travel beforehand!

Great Video! Thank you for the information! May I ask where do you living in the Philippines? The place you are renting looks beautiful. Hopefully will be there in less than a year! Keep up the videos!

Because of the very hot weather in Cebu there is a water shortage. Many Expats are having to buy water to be delivered. Sounds like CDO is a very nice. Although Expats are usually men retiring women could also feel very rick in PI. Allot of very nice PI men.

I imagine prices will start moving up, though, with all the wealthy foreigners arriving in the Philippines. I recently visited Dumaguete and I saw the numbers for myself.
Foreigners have definitely had an impact on Dumaguete, however a bigger city like Cdo or IloIlo not likely as much or too soon
here's a video suggestion: show how nice the golf courses are. That one image you show looked like a nice groomed green. about $25?
Unfortunately..golf is expensive here in the Philippines for equal quality to the USA
Yes $25 with caddy
Great video! Here are the other very important questions on infrastructure. What about quality of roads? Is the electric grid reliable? Is the water safe to drink? What about health care? If you are an older American, that becomes an issue and a factor in deciding where to live. I am assuming Medicare will not pay the Phillipine hospitals for your care?????
Thanks for the suggestions and yes, Medicare will not pay however, you can fly to Guam
The husband looks very healthy and relatively young though he once said he is 60-plus.

What a nice house you two are living in in a beautiful view, I'm doing just OK here in the Phoenix area, the cost of living is going up dramatically. I have my Social Security, Air Force, retirement and VA disability compensation and after doing the conversion just now it's almost 500,000 pesos a month. And with that I'm still just doing OK here in Phoenix.
only thing that's keeping me from moving to the Philippines is my three grandkids that live 2 miles away that are at my house all the time.
With your tale, I'd do 1,2 then 6 month trips

Yes, they have them here. I think Boracay and El Nito search TripAdvisor for all inclusive Philippines.

Rob: it’s megabits not megabytes. Storage capacity on a drive is measured in megabytes. The volume of data that is moved when downloading or uploading is measured in megabits 🙃
Thanks, Ken
Thank you Kens - always good to be reminded about the details. There is another misconception between bits and bites, which explains that ultimately the physical size of the sensor is what ultimately defines the resolution of a digital fine.
This topic would be worth a video on its own.
I would have to say that you are the richest guy in the world to capture the heart of Chrissy sorry if I spelled It wrong but all the money in the world does not compare to her beauty and personality. Money is not as important to me as finding someone as good as her and as pretty as her. I am trying to make a trip and find someone as beautiful as Chrissy might be hard there but as close as I can get to her. Thank you for all your effort. Best wishes to both of you.
Thanks for the kind words Robert let me know if I can help you. You can email me anytime.
Wow.What a great life you two have made for yourseves.

The reality of the Philippines is that although by the US and other Western economies comparison we pay a lot less in the Philippines, but the Economy in the West is multiples larger and there is no real comparison from that perspective. That said yes you can live in the PI more affordably but in a lot of areas of the economy there you will get less in terms of quality. For expats there are multitude of considerations that should be researched with a Critical eye so you are not underestimating the many areas of life and quality of life Indexes. Another consideration is it really your new home or are you a visitor that is staying long? Most US and Westerners will inevitably return primarily because of family, financial considerations, and near end of life wishes. Do not wear Rose colored glasses be a realist and not paint a unrealistic expectation and lifestyle.
Charles, you make some good points
You have to find your place on earth, make you priorities, what's important for one is not for others.
G’day Rob and Chrissy

The ribeye steak is a bit pricey at Cuesta Roccia, but that is expected without a large beef industry, like in the U.S. Every place has its trade offs, and I shouldn't be eating lots of red meat anyway. 😁
I was tempted by the tenderloin. It’s more reasonable, but yes, I don’t eat much beef here.
Interesting video. But flying around Asia at those prices is flying with budget Airlines Like Cebu Pacific, Jetstar , Air Asia or Scoot. Scheduled full service airlines will be double that price you mentioned.
Yes, exactly
Yes, exactly
It took me a while to figure out that "we made a movie" meant you made a VIDEO. 😂
Like Warner Wolf, let’s go to the videotape
What a great video!!!!sadly there are many Filipinos are not making the 10,957 pesos a month.
For those expats that are living on $600 a month in my opinion is not living a good life it’s existing ! I know people have limited means however I spend at least $1000 a month traveling with the Philippines.
Thanks Kevin for watching our video and giving your feedback
Our average spending per month is around $2500 for everything. So you are correct, those that come here living on $600 out of a total of $1500 a month are not living great... They are simply living. But in their defense, back in their countries, they would end up homeless. SO they tend to go where they can afford to live.
Try living in California with that $600.
@@user-xs8re2oy7i Try living in most cities of ANY state in the America with that.... California is no worse than any other state... period. But instead of pointing out how a state is expensive, you might want to understand that cost of living is determined by those who supply the goods by which people need to live. Capitalism is the root cause of homelessness... Trickle down economics has always hurt the poor.
Rob and Chrissy, you ask about career ideas for Chrissy. It seems in my mind she is already there with her certifications and education. I think as much as teaching English pays in most countries in Southeast Asia, that she could get quite a client list as a teacher teaching English. Unless I'm wrong learning English is a serious commodity for much of Southeast Asia and Pace Bank. From what I hear. My sources are teachers from Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand. So maybe there's still a real market for online education that you could start your own website and even advertise that on UA-cam
Also, I don't know where the the bank comment came from. My auto spell is really stupid right now

Rob an Chrissy, Do you know what the ONE topic that has never been discussed {or} brought up in the past??
Its the history of the phils. Does anyone know why the Illiconos are north an Visayan are in the south? Does anyone know what Polowan was used for during the control of Spain? Maybe it would be a topic? I think it would. Because there is a specific reason why the tribes are spread out. Best wishes..
Thanks, Allen. I’m a history buff and I like the suggestion. Let me think about it and research whether it has a chance of getting decent views.
The US dollar is high right now but the Philippines has or is considering in ditching the dollar as the reserve currency and going to BRICS.. So I am wondering if that happens, will it have an effect on the buying power of the US dollar.
Since China is the defacto leader of BRICS and security concerns center on China I don’t see it happening anytime soon
A foreigner. Can't not own property in the Philippines ! Land lease only. My advice is. Take a couple weeks. And go there. Prepare for culture shock. Beautiful islands. Beautiful ladies. And don't go there. Thinking your smarter then they are ! Don't think your going to get a job there. Or any kind of side hussle. Just retire 😊
Paul that’s some solid advice
Another excellent video! I’d love to see you guys go surfing in Siargao and also go to Boracay. Pick two top beach destinations anyways! I’d love for you to do a video on how a foreigner can purchase a home through a corporation. Example would be put my friends who are Filipino citizens and wife and family as the majority and the foreigner as the minority 49% or children once we have them…I’m not sure how it works? That’s why I think it would be a good video topic and Rob may want to buy a house someday…Lastly the casual dress is great! But my Filipina was so upset I wear only 1 pair of shorts and had only 2 shirts on my last trip, she was washing my shirt every night since I always spill on the front! I definitely felt some affection about her attention to my cloths. I thought I could buy shirts in Cebu but all were too small!
Often attorneys will create a corporation where six Filipinos who don’t know each other get 10% of the corporation and you keep 40% and because the other people don’t know each other and don’t have a way to find each other and coordinate you become the managing partner thanks for the suggestion
