Don and Glen wrote and sang the bulk of Eagles songs but I always looked forward to Randy’s songs because they sounded different and because of his singing. They always had great harmonies but Randy’s higher key floated above what the others sang and gave it an extra sparkle and energy. I always loved listening for his voice in the mix.
... yeah, Glenn and Don H appointed themselves as the bosses once they learnt from the two veterans who co-founded Eagles - it was Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon who delivered the professional and class act with their super harmonies and superb instrumentation which gave Eagles their characteristic sound. So the Egoes were on a self-promoting drive and they made sure that they got most of the lead singing and the song credits - relegating the two band meisters (Randy and Bernie) to looking like “backup musicians” for The Glenn and Don H Show - which is when Bernie left, as he said in an interview with John Beaudin. Imagine how many MORE hits they could have had if Frey and Henley had “played nice” with both Bernie and Randy... BTW Bernie wrote the entire music for Witchy Woman, and Henley wrote the lyrics.

It's so nice to see all the positive comments about Randy. The Eagles weren't near as good without him. This song was THE best track from Hotel California, in my opinion.
It is truly sad, that people with so much talent are seemingly randomly dismissed or forgotten. We can't all be stars ALL OUR LIVES, but lets not forget people when they seem to be passed their prime or "usefulness" . Randy is just another one of those that have fallen hard. Sad but true....great music reminds us of EACH OTHER and good times in our lives. We all need each other to get through this damn life. It's hard , sometimes and we can't do it alone! We all have something to give. Lets try to be less critical and more appreciative of others!
Omggg Randy if you are reading, my gosh , this is such a beautiful song. You got the best voice among the eagles. You are such a humble soul wherein you got the best voice and the best looking. Keep. Up the good health and hope to hear more from your songs 🙏
Underrated, overshadowed have had a brilliant solo career.ed and improper promotion. This man is the whole package and he should have had a brilliant career. Wish him the best and pray he gets his health back.
I have always been an Eagles fan and Randy Meisner was the best singer of the group especially when singing Take it to the limit. I have heard other singers do this song they don't even come close to Randy. I would like the Eagles to take this song and retire it from their act. The song is Randy's and his alone.
.. he wasn’t nervous of singing in general .. but his huge hit Take It To The Limit was a notoriously difficult song to sing, and not one of the other Eagles could hit those high notes. Even when they changed the song down a few keys they *didn’t even try* to hit the high notes! When Eagles were on an 11 month tour to promote the Hotel California album, Randy missed his wife and 3 children. He also had a cold and an ulcer when Glenn Frey tried to bully him into singing TITTL live on stage .. Randy knew he would probably not hit the high notes so he refused... it would have been disappointing for his fans and it would have been humiliating for him to miss those high. .. like pulling down his pants in front of a live audience. He was not shy to sing in the earlier days .. listen to him singing Midnight Flyer on the Don Kirchner show, and Certain Kind Of Fool in Voorburg ... and Anyway Bye Bye .. definitely the best singer in the Eagles ... he also sang several songs with other bands after he left Eagles, such as Poco and Silverado’s .. and he’s so *happy * singing without bullies. Watch bis awesome bass riffs at the end of OutlawMan on the Don Kirchner show..
Yes I wonder too, he had so much to offer. Some other dudes with that good look, amazing voice and talent would take the opportunity to be in the limelight, but yet again he's such a humble man that makes him loved so much, love love u Randy❤️
When hotel california album came out and if the tickets to there concert were 500.00 dollars and the only song they played was try and love again and then they walked off the stage i would of said i got my monies worth what a GREAT SONG
I doubt he does but I hope he sometime reads the comments his fans make about him. We love his voice and I wish his life had been easier, don't give up, you are in our thoughts.
I'd say it's a tie with Timothy B. Schmit. Love him too!😍Both are phenomenal! Randy had such a beautiful, clear, natural tenor voice! Heard Glenn try to sing Take it to the Limit in concert a few years back. Truthfully he should've just left it alone. That's Randy's song & his song only! No one else can do it justice.
Its so desperately sad for randy ...yes by far the best looking and vocally streets ahead...he will live forever with his rendition of take it to the limit live in 77 ...one of the most wonderful performances in my opinion ever ...lovely humble sweet hearted man x
