It was surreal to see Kratos staring down his younger self.
I really really REALLY wanted the last fight in valhalla to be against younger kratos.
I really wish they would’ve brought back the OG actor and gave him a couple lines to say back to older kratos. The cameo would’ve been biblical.
@@jaxmillionit’s a weird paradox, Greek gods get more powerful with age? Young Kratos is fucked by pure pain and a need for vengeance, against a pantheon of gods!? It’s a truly beautiful/ugly story with every new addition.

People that hate the new Kratos don't care about character development. The whole point of the older games was revenge wasn't the answer and didn't give Kratos peace at the end of it. And older Kratos is trying to better himself while dealing with guilt and trauma of everything that he's done and things that have happened to him. Say what you want about the games themselves, but they did his character development perfectly.

"You were always more than that." That wasn't directed at just the characters in the game, but at the players who only think of Kratos as a killing machine without remorse.

How can people say Kratos in the new games is weak. He faces up to his past, accepted his mistakes and realise his power came from hope. The stoicism and wisdom compliments his power and violence. “I am your monster no longer”
They say that because they're weak themselves. They're rash, thoughtless, vain. Hiding their weakness behind a facade of fake strength.
He is super strong. An example for all of us.

It's sad that the creator of God Of War hates the fact of Kratos being soft in the Norse arc.
This Kratos (on the Norse Arc) made my life become better because of his strong words and that we, has the players, can change our lifes for good and that we can become a better human being.
If you ever feel down, sad or regret about something that you had done, just forgive yourself and move forward. Hope will always going to stay by our side all the time, in the good and bad moments of our lifes.

I think Kratos might be Cory Barlog’s character more than David Jaffe’s. Cory was the lead animator for God of War, directed God of War II, was the director of God of War III for the first eight months of the game, and helped write Ghost of Sparta. And it’s Cory Barlog who was part of the team who made the GoW: Ragnorak games, not David Jaffe.
David Jaffe's just an edgelord. More was done with Kratos's character in the Norse games than the Greek ones. There was nothing much to him beyond "angry" in the Greek games.

Kratos telling his younger self that he is more then what others saw, is Cory barlog and all of Santa Monica studios telling the audience that David Jaffe’s original work with kratos and God of War was more then just a man killing things and getting revenge. It was about a man who had a lot of love in his heart for his people, his homeland, and his family, but but chose strength over everything believing it would grant him protection for the people he cares for. Kratos in his young age has been more then just a killing machine, but a man who had hope in his heart that he can be better and do good in the world. Such a beautiful arc that still puts me in awe that after many years with the character it finally comes full circle.
The people in the comments complaining about Kratos' development are the most media illiterate and shallow people imaginable, Kratos is an amazingly well written character and an all around badass whose no longer afraid to look himself in the eye. He is brilliant he is flawed, he is strong, and he is wise. People who say the new games suck clearly didn't pay attention to the story or they're just insecure people who would straight up side with Odin or Zeus.

I remember playing the old god of war as a kid and going through such a shitty childhood and I was just angry all the time, then that mission back then where hope is brought up and how important hope is really hit me and made me think a lot in regards of my situation. Fast forward years to this dlc, I was super excited and happy to see it go full circle with a better understanding as well as seeing kratos finally really accept everything. Such a great dlc and the fact it’s free was all the much better
From General of Sparta to General of Midgard. From Bane of Olympus to Bringer of Ragnarok. From Ghost of Sparta to Saviour of the Nine Realms. From God of War...to God of Hope. Kratos has earned his redemption. I love both his character and his development. Hopefully it isn't the end, but if it is...I am content with this as an ending. 🥲

Just finished valhalla last night, one of the best character development of all time.
It's not too late to change… redemption is possible, if you are willing to do it. Kratos is a prime example of a real change. He has earned it.

I loved these scenes being paralleled at each other 0:21 - 0:31 shows true depth of the character’s story and Kratos’s development throughout the game series
I have been with this series since it came out... and to see kratos grow as he did... i cant explain the pride and happiness i feel for the fact that they took this route of redemption with him.
Kratos looking at his younger self is what we all see when we look at our own past with regret.

KRatos god of Hope, he is depictable has a strong and calm man who has lived a life of sadness , anger, selfishness and cruelty that he decided to give others in the quest to obtain revenge. after realizing his mistake, regret took his heart hostage and he decided to live alone away from gods after causing a world to become a waste.
along his travels he has met and obtained many things that shaped him into a new man, a new god. Across his travel he learned that he can be more than the monster he was and brought Hope to a land at the mercy of a Tyrant.
He is depicted has a tall Grey skinned man from the ashe of his family, scared in Red with a large beard and on his waist lower, the head of the mimir ,the man he calls his brother, giving him council on his action to help guide humanity and the other realms to in situation of conflict to make sure the wars are fair and he is known for being a god who brings Hope in the chaos of war so that the conflict can come to a quick end for peace to return and bring harmony after conflict.

If Kratos can recognize the hurt and pain he’s dealt to innocents and still find hope that he can be better,but still never be able to atone for the things he’s done is inspiring. We chose to make the choices that have hurt us in the end. There is no reason the choices we make now and in the future cannot make us better men

I hate that everyone keeps calling him the God of hope no. He's still the God of war. He's just gonna be a kinder God of war. He has hope now that his battles won't be for pure violence, but for a just cause
The God of war is also the God of peace. By not waging war or by keeping them in check he becomes a force for peace.
A good warrior, a true warrior, undersands the value of peace. He wages war when war is inevitable, but sues for peace when peace is possible.
Young Kratos waged war because war was all he knew. He was raised to it, and bound to it by others, chained to war just as he was chained to those accursed blades.
Old Kratos waged war as a last resort, because he knew Odin would not stop, that he would drag the world to Hel with him. He never declared war until he sounded the Gjallarhorn, because he knew firsthand where that would lead, and exhausted all other options before committing to it. And once the deed was done, the God of Peace was born.
