I will honestly never understand how this movie didn't win a single award. Not from a fan point of view, but plain common sense. I don't think it got the coverage it needed and deserved. Literally one of the most amazing movies I've seen in so long, I was so surprised by this film. The music was so beautiful, like there's not really any words to justly describe it. I'm just so incredibly disappointed in the light that hasn't been shone on this. It's a work of art, and honestly has revived my hopes in the film industry. Because here lately so many films get hyped up and 90% of them are such major letdowns than what we expected. I love movies and music so I always try new things no matter what, but this film was such a breath of fresh air. Everyone in the world deserves and needs to see this, at least once.
They did win awards though. Maybe not an oscar, but they did win awards.
Nabiya Ri oh I know, but hardly any and nothing near what they deserved. So I didn't even mention lol
Sarah Verity Well at least This is Me won a Golden Globe for “Best Original Song” if i’m right..
Critics only like superheroes nowadays..... boring imo
they did win awards but only for this is me (which ngl its inevitable with such a great and inspiring anthem). imo the choreo / directing should've been more appreciated:)
It’s a shame. The critics totally lost the sense of magic and wonder. That’s what fans hold on to in this messed up world.
No it just wasn't accurate to what happened like a lot
It just felt so rushed and pt barnum's arc seemed abrupt and kind of hard to swallow considering how awful his actions were.
@Sam Hunter but it twists alot of the stuff in bad ways
it wasn’t a well put together movie. rushed and choppy, particularly with the relationship between Zac and Zendaya’s characters. the music was absolutely brilliant, and it deserved better script writing to accompany it. not a bad movie but wasted potential
The movie's focus and direction was off. They nailed the musicals but the plot was screwy. The big love set up in this scene, was never followed up very good. The movie's focus changed to the circus. While he has a potential affair and his wife sings about a tightrope, and eventually culminates in the "From now on", scene, it just doesn't feel like all these pieces were tied together right.
Ok I don’t see a lot of people appreciating charity so ima just point this out
Charity is one of my fav characters because she didn’t care where he came from and his money , she stayed by him and believed in him all of the time
Even while away at that school she waited for his letter and wrote back .
She trusted him to even almost jump of a building
like I need some love like charity in my life
"She's trying to kill herself!" is what my lil bro said at that scene when they danced on the building. "I want a soulmate who's like her, but genderbend" is what I thought

The woman who gave him an apple broke my heart 😭😭
I know right? The one person who offers him something, and she's not accepted for her face. She should've been accepted in society for her kind actions.
Mark Jr. Luat dude I thought it was a boy
Me tooooo :((
I think she acted it great. had i been directing it, I would have taken the boys acting in another direction for that scene.
I would have made him at first only haveing eyes for the apple itself, after grabbing it, seeing her for real, not covering or recoiling from her looks, but brimming with held back tears and thankfulness over the kindness. Also I would have liked to see some really hard closed eyes like trying first to hold back tears of frustration after the bread was bulled away from him.
Still I think they as children is really great and I think really the best part of the movie.
What's the actresses name that plays her?
I loved his wife in this film. Like you can clearly see him staring at people with more money, the people in the fancy restaurant, the disappointment when he sees their tiny apartment, but his wife drags him away every time. She doesn't care about any of that, the only thing she wants is the man in front of her.
Aweee!!!!!❤
8:21 I love her verse. She believes in him so much.

Has anyone realized that the movie had the same fate as the story itself? Hated by critics but loved by the audience.
"All you're selling is fake" - critics gave it a bad review due to it being historically inaccurate
"Do these smiles seem fake?" - audience. This movie made our year and closed 2017 perfectly.

Wow that’s funny, I did not realize that. But yeah you’re right, I honestly couldn’t care less if it were historically accurate, movies are supposed to be a place where you can get emotionally involved in a fictional character (most of the time at least) and if this P. T. was fictional and only loosed based on the real one I really couldn’t couldn’t care less if I’m able to get emotionally involved.

The sad part is that when Barnum was slapped, his dad was clearly shocked and feeling that this was too harsh a reaction, but he couldn't say anything because, well, he was poor and depended on business from Charity's dad. He had no choice but to stay silent.
I really hate it that Charity’s father slapped poor Barnum in the face! What a disrespectful man Charity’s father is! I just hate it when parents or other adults are ever disrespectful and cruel to poor little children! I always hate physical violence! It hurts a lot!

This part of the film is really important. It tells us to not judge people, not to judge someone on how wealthy they are, and the smallest actions of kindness can make the biggest difference. The apple scene was my favourite. That lady was suffering just as much as him yet she gave up probably her meal for the day for a young child. How beautiful. 💖
Wow that sounds like it really came from the heart ❤️
The fact this movie didn't win any awards says a lot about society these days. People don't appreciate what's real, what's talent, what's love, what's life
Of ALL the wonderful characters in this movie, my favourite is Charity Barnum. It's just... She's just so lovely and wonderful. In the movie, never once she complained about her life or her status. She always knows what she wants in life and she has it, and cherishes it. She sees magic in everything around her and loves her family unconditionally. I love her so much!
絲嘉蕾Scarlet wow, very good words, but remember Tightrope, " Some people long for a life that is simple and plain, tied with a ribbon, some people don't sail the sea 'cause they're safer on land....." just lettin u know!
Quinn Blogs
And what
Quinn Blogs your point?
Quinn Blogs I guess your point was she loved him for him and wanted the simple life. He loved her but hated where he came from and wanted status and respect above all else. For him and his daughters. Almost lost Charity because of it. She saw Barnum slowly pulling away. She still trusted him despite seeing something somewhat developing between him and the opera singer. Charity was the most likable because she was the most non superficial female I have seen on screen for in a long time. They don't make too many women like that these days, particular coming from wealth. They do exist.
Quinn Blogs while she did say that, I think it meant that a lot of people would rather be rich because it's the safer route. You don't have to worry about lack of food, proper shelter, etc. Having wealth provides what you need and more. But Charity is okay with living a life of no wealth, it's like the sea, it can be rough sometimes, but the time spent is more enjoyable. The old house in a million dreams? Charity loved it, even though it's run down and old.
Young charity’s voice is so pretty 😭 wish they kept it in the soundtrack
Alina Reybey seriously don’t understand it
You are not alone on that one
Alina Reybey I think it was to long with young charity that’s why they didn’t put charity in idk that’s my guess
Adrianna Ayala ohh yeah that makes sense.
It's not the voice of Charity actress in the movie and just like Tom for This Is Me I think it was just too much people to pay or they just did not wanted to sign, that's sad :/ or maybe she was cold
Young Charity’s voice is so beautiful. Y’all don’t know my struggle when it was not included in the studio version because when the kids sang together that was just chefs kiss man.
Okay, I know they’re not really on a rooftop, but that part really had my heart thumping in my chest. The smooth transitions, the trust between the dancers, it was all so gorgeous and thrilling. They seem to work really well together.
The lady that gave him the Apple was so frickin adorable

God is love I have no other dreams/desire/wish then to live a simple life with my soulmate/twin flame as long as our love is true and no wrong doings from each other we can be homeless but happy my family? I want to repay them from the kindness or all they did for me even if they I don’t feel like their daughter sometimes... I just want a simple life I don’t need luxury I want love if I can I want love from true friends if I can find some and maybe my family and friends supporting and loving who I really am. But if not it’s just gonna be me and my love we shall live together for eternity forever happy...

I love that so many people appreciate Charity in the comments but I also wanna put it out there how heartbreaking Barnum's story was. From the slap to the whole song's sequence, it's heartbreaking how much he had to suffer as a literal child, how his dreams and Charity were the only things he had. It's true to life for a lot of children out there born and raised into poverty who cant even afford to have a dream. Listening to the song makes me think of a child who's desperately hanging on to their dream in order to endure reality.
Does anyone else realise the significance of the lady giving him the apple? In his early life, someome unusual helped him, and when he gets older he helps all the unusual and shunned people

Charity’s young voice is too good. I hope hey included her in the studio version
One thing I like about this scene is if you think about it in a different viewpoint. They never really specified if he liked Charity ever since they were kids. He could’ve loved her but not in the way he loved her when he got older. That could’ve just been his best friend. Her letters could’ve saved him in the bad times. Over time it could’ve just came to him that he loved her and that there was no one else in the world who made him feel the way he does when he’s with her. So listening to this song in that viewpoint kinda just makes it more, magical.
I love that charity loves where they live and isn’t uncomfortable where they are and chose it over the mansion

I get crap everyday from everyone about how I have no money to get married and how I can't do anything because I have all these bills but want to chase my dream and my parents, fiancé, family, and friends just tell me over and over I can't do it. I started UA-cam but stopped for that reason. This song gives me hope. I hold on to this song because it actually makes me feel like I can make it one day. Some people still won't get it. But this song means so much to me. I'm a huge dreamer and this songs helps me believe that one day my dreams will come true..

The funeral of the father was sad but the lady giving him food was what made me cry. It was sooo emotional

@@ChiChiDoesStuff was that a marvel reference?
@@FrozenJedi38 No it was from Aladdin.
@@ChiChiDoesStuff Sounded exactly like a marvel reference but oh well lol
I think you're confusing it for thanos' line where he says "All that for a drop of blood?" lol
I literally cried first time watching this part 💖 ...a huge thanx to those who made a wonderful movie such as this movie 💖
The Greatest Showman is the greatest show I have ever seen. And I mean it.
So true. It's amazing
I just realized that the house that they went into and explored is the on that they buy and live in when they are older with their little girls
Lily Davidson they say it in the movie
nah they don't directly say it. she asks "Is it..." and he says "Yes". its easy to miss if you weren't paying attention earlier in the movie.
Seriously
I didn't notice it right away, either. I really like that, though. It's a sweet detail. :)
👏👏👏👏👏
I love this movie so much, it has helped me out of dark place many times, to accept myself, learned to be grateful for little things. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everything about this movie is amazing and pure magic to me ! This scene not only give us the roots for both characters, but also, in such short time, everything we need to know about them : their passion, their determination to stay together no matter the differences, to hold to their dreams, the love... It reminds me of the first 10 minutes of Up from Pixar. In a very short time, you can have such an impact, and this movie is just full of it ! I love it so so much !
