Skylar's reactions in this scene kill me. And I don't care what people think I like Telly as Angel. I mean Telly may not be my FAVORITE Angel but I still like him. And Wayne did an excellent job as Collins in my opinion. Of course I have always thought Wayne Brady had an amazing voice.
I know you asked this a while ago, but I'll still answer. Anyways, I think that the reason they are singing off key is because they are being sarcastic. Christmas bells are a sign of Christmas (obviously), which is a time for peace & joy. But these people say the bells are ringing elsewhere. Symbolically, this means that where these people are right now (and more specifically, in their own lives), there is no peace or joy. They are bitter & are mocking the joy Christmas is supposed to bring.
