Never thought I'd see anyone who could match Alan Cumming much less surpass his performance. Mason has shattered the ceiling with his performance. Bravo !
I totally agree too. Saw it twice in London at the KitKat. Wish I'd seen this performance live too, but I have the same problem... I keep playing it on a loop. So moving, it's impossible to forget. Thank you, Mason. Your talent is phenomenal.
Not only is this the Emcee I want to see, this is the Emcee I want to BE. Mason Alexander Park is the reason I believe I could play the Emcee one day even though I'm not a man. Thank you, Mx. Park, for shining such a bright light on the world of theater.
I absolutely get it and agree. I am too old now, but seeing Mx. Park as the Emcee was empowering. There are parts for NB people and we can do amazing things. I hope you get your dream parts someday!
I'm so lucky to live near Olney and have seen this production. Absolutely the best Cabaret I've ever seen). Mason was incredible (and is beyond incredible as Hedwig too)
It’s like having a dreaded conversation at four in the morning, coming down after too many drinks. Like you can feel the dense pit of truth in your stomach of how many times you’ve been hurt, and how hardened that pit is. How it starts as a whisper and then grows and bursts out of you and you must wrangle it so you can still speak it well enough to hear. How many of us had this talk of not being able to afford to care any longer? You make art, Mason. Beautiful art.
Okay we need a new cabaret movie and Mason has to be the Emcee. They almost brought me to tears and I'm just watching it on video! If I was there I would have ruined my mascara!❤
This point is the reason I’m watching this video. I saw Mason as Emcee in London a year ago and I can’t get over their performance. It was unbelievable. I wish I could have gone back but I saw them in their final week. I would love them to play on Broadway and then make a movie. Mason was just sublimely born for this role. I will never stop thinking about this mesmerising performance ❤
The themes of Cabaret sadly seem just as relevant today as they did when it originally premiered. I would love a new film adaptation with Mason as the MC. Or even a new pro-shot on stage.
one of the few people ive seen pull off singing any song from cabaret with enough musicality that it sounds tasteful, while keeping the disgust and anguish that is withint every character present
Spot on!! I love Mason and his voice I could listen to all day! I miss my theater days and I sing too so I know how it goes. Mason is definitely a beautiful voice like butter and a beautiful soul. Totally agree with you.
Obsessed with Mason Alexander Park’s Emcee. The Emcee has always been my favorite, I cannot keep the goofy grin off my face anytime I hear any version of the Emcee. Until now. Don’t get me wrong, I would grin if I could pick my jaw up off the floor. After seeing Mason bring such emotion, power and range to this character, well it would be hard to accept anything less now. I have been watching this video on a loop for months and I tear up every single time. I lost my little mind when I was lucky enough to hear Mason Alexander Park sing this accompanied by piano legend Mike Garson in a tiny piano bar in Hollywood this October and I was on such a cloud that I forgot other people could see me and ugly cried right down in front.
Mason's interpretation of this song is hauntingly beautiful. They surpass all other versions of the song. You can feel the raw emotions. I watch this video at least once a day. Mason is THE Emcee of all Emcees.
This version is so raw and so heartbreaking. I'd love to hear your thought-process developing and performing this number- because your delivery is so much more vulnerable and haunting than any of the other ones i've seen.
I love everything about this!! I'm one of those who just recently fell into the rabbit hole that is Cabaret. I watched the 1993 recording with Alan Cumming, and of course he is phenomenal and iconic and I absolutely love it, but this video makes me want to see the whole version with Mason so badly. I Don't Care Much is one of my favorite songs at the moment, and I think this is my favorite version. Not just because of the beautiful vocals, but everything else too. The costuming, lighting, blocking, little details, makeup, and the facials oh my gosh!! It's so full of emotion and feeling. It's so moving and just amazing!!!
Saw their Emcee last week. The voice, the beauty and the mischievous character with some moments of silence were stunning. Also their sprit has apparently connected with the history of BW cabaret, which i could feel different horizon from one of previous London Emcees I could watch once. (Both were great though) Definitely recommend to see them if you can!
I wish so much that the whole play had been filmed and put on UA-cam after the show's run. This is such an amazing production! Your performance is breathtaking. Hats off! Can't wait to see you live in NYC.
Lyrics- (since the accent can be hard to understand) I don't care much Go or stay I don't care very much Either way Hearts grow hard On a windy street Lips grow cold With the rent to meet So if you kiss me If we touch Warning's fair I don't care very much I don't care much Go or stay I don't care very much Either way Words sound false When your coat's too thin Feet don't waltz When the roof caves in So if you kiss me If we touch Warning's fair I don't care very much Mason is simply incredible. Built for this role.
Gives me the chills every time! I keep thinking the director must have dropped to their knees and thanked their lucky stars after Mason's audition. Every note--every gesture breaks my heart. Just spectacular. 💔
Mason, your performance here is incredible. I've heard several different versions of this song since becoming a fan of this musical, & i've always found it a sad song, but your version is definitely the most heartbreaking one to listen to.
I just saw them in London a few days ago, and it was so interesting how different the interpretation of this song was to this performance. Both good, but really exploring different facets of what the Emcee can represent.
It is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Mason Alexander Park I have no words to describe you. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
I have a bias towards Alan Cummings's MC sing it's the performance I've been familiar with since high school. Even so, what a phenomenal performance. Kudos, Mason. That was stellar.
oh my god. oh my god oh my god. this is one of the best renditions i've heard, if not ever. i really hope to see you on broadway someday, if that's something you hope to do! your command of every role you've starred in is phenomenal. (you've also played hedwig, which is forever one of my favorite musicals. gosh. such a natural performer. i adore you & your stage presence.)
I agree MAP is amazing, but I would hesitate to compare Cumming and Park. I think they are both fantastic performers with their own brilliant interpretations of the Emcee. It's a very close call!
I did not get to see this production of Cabaret, alas. But I am excited to see that Mason has taken the role of the MC in "Cabaret at the KitKat Club" in the West End.
Hi Mason. I first came across your work through Sandman. You are truly enchanting and talented. I look forward to seeing more of your work now and in the years to come.
I can’t stop watching this, God I’m obsessed with your voice so much. I wish I could see you live. So excited to see you as Desire, I can’t wait for the show. 💕 sending love from Canada 😊
My friend really wants to see Cabaret on Broadway with whats-his-face...I have no desire to see that show. Can I see this one instead? (seriously I will pay money to see this Cabaret recording!). So good.
I always wonder what the real exact take of this song is supposed to be on. Is it that there’s nothing you can do to stop the impending doom except possibly numb yourself (like with sex, drugs, drinking)? Or is it simply that as of this point The Emcee knows it’s all going to burn down and take him with it, so why should he care. Instead of running for the hills & praying to your God, he’d rather burn in Berlin.
One of my favourite musicals and wow what a talent Mason has, they are so wonderful und the singing ist wunderbar, so heartfelt, touching and scary as well, but in the best nuanced way.
Never thought I'd see anyone who could match Alan Cumming much less surpass his performance. Mason has shattered the ceiling with his performance. Bravo !
We agree
I totally agree too. Saw it twice in London at the KitKat. Wish I'd seen this performance live too, but I have the same problem... I keep playing it on a loop. So moving, it's impossible to forget. Thank you, Mason. Your talent is phenomenal.
Mason's pronouns are they/them, as indicated by the description above for this video
Look up Raul Esparzas rendition from the revival. That is the absolute best I've seen by far.
Oh Screw pronouns! I do. So do I.
Not only is this the Emcee I want to see, this is the Emcee I want to BE. Mason Alexander Park is the reason I believe I could play the Emcee one day even though I'm not a man. Thank you, Mx. Park, for shining such a bright light on the world of theater.
I just saw a production in the round with a female MC. It works.

Okay we need a new cabaret movie and Mason has to be the Emcee. They almost brought me to tears and I'm just watching it on video! If I was there I would have ruined my mascara!❤
actually though if there was a movie it would have to go to mason or we riot at dawn. i would watch it so many times
This point is the reason I’m watching this video. I saw Mason as Emcee in London a year ago and I can’t get over their performance. It was unbelievable. the vibrato in that voice gives me life
one of the few people ive seen pull off singing any song from cabaret with enough musicality that it sounds tasteful, while keeping the disgust and anguish that is withint every character present
I completely agree! absolutely impressive!
Spot on!! I love Mason and his voice I could listen to all day! I miss my theater days and I sing too so I know how it goes. Mason is definitely a beautiful voice like butter and a beautiful soul. Totally agree with you.
They were literally BORN to play this part!!
Obsessed with Mason Alexander Park’s Emcee. The Emcee has always been my favorite, I cannot keep the goofy grin off my face anytime I hear any version of the Emcee. Until now. So excited to see them smash this in London as the new Emcee!!!
Saw Mason this week in London. Unbelievable. Their interpretation of Emcee is incredible

Just discovered Mason from Sandman and have devoured everything I can find of them 💗
Thought I was the only one. They have a lovely voice and performance is always exceptional. Wow.
SAME
Same here!
me too!
OUR NEW EMCEE!!!
I love everything about this!! I'm one of those who just recently fell into the rabbit hole that is Cabaret. this broke me down into an avalanche of tears at 3am. so beautiful, i don’t think I’ll ever be the same
Saw their Emcee last week. The voice, the beauty and the mischievous character with some moments of silence were stunning. Also their sprit has apparently connected with the history of BW cabaret, which i could feel different horizon from one of previous London Emcees I could watch once. (Both were great though) Definitely recommend to see them if you can!
The silences speak so loudly. So beautiful. Wow
Mason, I’m ready for you to conquer the world with your art.
god i can’t believe i just stumbled across this video! i am now going to forever regret not seeing Mason as emcee… this is fantastic !
So far the best Emcee I’ve ever seen! The costume is exquisite and his haunting vocals are amazing!!
*their! :)
This is perfect. I love the vulnerability, exhaustion, and rage that they combine here-- while still having moments of truly beautiful singing.
I wish so much that the whole play had been filmed and put on UA-cam after the show's run. This is such an amazing production! Your performance is breathtaking. Hats off! Can't wait to see you live in NYC.
Lyrics- (since the accent can be hard to understand)
I don't care much

I don't care very much

I’m legitimately blown away
This is raw and haunting and I adore it. 🖤

Absolutely the best performance. Perfect.
Please please bring Mason to Broadway!
It is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Mason Alexander Park I have no words to describe you. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
My favorite show. Hardest song to get through.
This takes it to another level altogether. Sublime

What I wouldn't give to see the entire video of this production
This is absolutely INCREDIBLE, holy shit!!!
I have a bias towards Alan Cummings's MC sing it's the performance I've been familiar with since high school. Even so, what a phenomenal performance. Kudos, Mason. That was stellar.
Holy..this was VISCERAL. I’m absolutely stunned!!
Gives me chills! So much I want to say about this and yet I’m speechless at the same time!
oh my god. oh my god oh my god. this is one of the best renditions i've heard, if not ever. i really hope to see you on broadway someday, if that's something you hope to do! your command of every role you've starred in is phenomenal.

Everything about this is SUBLIME

Stunningly beautiful & devastating 💔
This song is one of my long-time favorites, and this performance is my new favorite. Wifey & I love you in Quantum Leap, as well. Thank you!
I can not wait to see you in the London Revival! You are amazing
This is the best rendition of this song I have found so far.....Even better than Alan Cumming.
I agree MAP is amazing, but I would hesitate to compare Cumming and Park. I think they are both fantastic performers with their own brilliant interpretations of the Emcee. It's a very close call!
💜MASON 💜
Mason, I know that I only started as fan of yours because of Desire but WOW! You're amazing! I wish you all the best. I'm so happy to see you. 🤗
This just completely mesmerizes me. Amazing
I did not get to see this production of Cabaret, alas. But I am excited to see that Mason has taken the role of the MC in "Cabaret at the KitKat Club" in the West End.

WTF. He's INCREDIBLE. Amazing acting. Bravo sir, HE should be playing this role on Broadway, NOT Eddie Redman
Mason uses they/them pronouns! ^^
@@finleyforevermore Oh, good for him! I hear that's very "in" right now.
@@cloudambient ew
literally the best song in cabaret
My friend really wants to see Cabaret on Broadway with whats-his-face...I have no desire to see that show. Can I see this one instead? (seriously I will pay money to see this Cabaret recording!). So good.

Perfect casting.

...Yes.
I love how Mason channels Joel Grey.
One of my favourite musicals and wow what a talent Mason has, they are so wonderful und the singing ist wunderbar, so heartfelt, touching and scary as well, but in the best nuanced way.
Powerful singing
WOW! Amazing he was able to perform despite the problem with the microphones! Thanks and regards.

holy shit, i just noticed the arm bands on the musicians
You. are. perfect. omg
❤️❤️❤️
❤bravo......
gosh.... You're so cool
Who’s here after watching Sandman!!!
jesus christ this is insane
This guy should be a bigger name than he is.
This is why these shows should be filmed and putting on a streaming site.
Interesting.
I guess the director didn't want the audience applauding after the musical numbers? 🤔
WHERE is Adam Pascal's version on UA-cam?!
This has some Marilyn Manson's 'The Golden Age of Grotesque' vibes
Spellbinding
Is that Bianca Del Rio! Give her a Tony!
100% thought it was Bianca at first look.
Nah cause I didn’t know that this is where this song came from
Lol this bloke thinks he's plural 😂
Lol this bloke thinks he's worth anything
