Cemeteries are amazing places, not only do I enjoy seeing the names of those long gone and helping to not them be forgotten even if its only for a moment but memorials are works of art to me. Someone had to carve those stones by hand, it isn't like today and a machine does the work, someone actually had to draw out what the stone was supposed to look like and then set to it with chisel and hammer and a mistake could cost the carver a lot of money. Hi Ron this was another interesting walk. Really like when you pause on a pic and zoom in. It gives us a chance to see what you see. Your awesome Ron love listening to your voice! Take care and be safe out there!!😀✌
Mooky O.-- Right. I Agree. It was Nice, that Ron paused on a Picture, kind of told the Story, on what happened. It's Nice, that Ron, gives the Dead, "A Voice, Puts a Face, with A Name...(Some headstones are So Old, that the Inscriptions cannot be read anymore)😞. But No Wonder, this UA-cam Channel's name, is "Faces of the Forgotten".. Although, it is Sad, how some if these headstones, don't have Flowers, or children's headstones don't have Any Toys, or anything. Sad World We Live in. 😞😕 I Live in Colorado, and I wish, that I Could go Visit, some if these Interesting Headstones.... Cemeteries Intrigue Me, as Well. I Love looking at Old Headstones, from the late 1800's, 1887, & Early 1900's. 🙏🙏😕😞
I love the stories that you tell and how respectful you are at all the cemeteries you visit. I didn't know ow they had these porcelain photos on the older grave stones from 1800's. I thought mistackingly that it was a new thing to do. But we get so much information from you. Keep up the good work.
I do ancestry as well. There are so many children in the past that passed away so young. One of my ancestors lost 6 young children. God bless them. The sorrow must have been overwhelming.
When you mentioned their eyes...so true. The eyes are the mirror of the soul, and it is so true. It makes all the difference in the world to have their photo placed on the stones. It reminds us in a serious way that this was a real person under our feet and carved in stone. They all had lives, loves, and losses, just like we do. Those pictures bind us to their souls for a moment and they are, at that moment, no longer the "faces of the forgotten". Thank you for doing this channel. Many of us are ill and unable to travel and look at all the cemeteries and you take us along. God Bless you for it, and all the respect (not walking on the actual grave whenever possible)you show every life that has passed. May you be blessed for it. Thank You again.
I just found you. What I have noticed, is that, for one, your respect is genuine. Also, you are great at giving the background story, and you thoughtfully show the little details. Like the pictures on the headstones, most others would skip over. You have a calming voice, and I find myself not only watching it all, but binge watching your older ones. Thanks for entertaining us.
I briefly studied Memento Mori in my Undergrad classes for Art History. Yet, I find the sculptures memorializing the deceased fascinating and emotionally moving through interpretation of what is represented in stone.
So historically sad. Before antibiotics and any disease would have taken them. The young girls are in communion dresses. It was common to take a photo for communion. Getting to the year 1918, many may have succumbed to the Spanish flu pandemic. It is amazing to see people from the past. There may be few alive who remember them. Thank you.
Oh dont worry about it. Its been 28 yrs now. Ii probly shouldnt have watched it. Cause i cried. Someone told me that tears help wash. Away grief. Yhank. Uou for your kind note.
A sad walk to remember the many children that were taken a century ago. I saw so many had died in 1925. There must have been a wave of disease or a nasty virus that year. Thank you so much for letting us see the pictures of these beautiful, precious children. So many were lovingly remembered in pictures. It had to be so hard to go and see them looking back at you from death. My heart breaks for these families. Nothing can ever replace a child. If you have many children, each one is precious. My grandmother had two still births and she once told me how hard it was. Even with nine surviving children the two she lost were never forgotten, nor did the pain ever heal. Without her faith in God, she could never survive these tragedies. I pray for everyone who has lost a child and I pray for your safety Ron as you travel and risk your own wellbeing to bring us these amazing stories.
As the mother of losing a baby.....my heart is still so broken and it's been over 40 yrs. My baby was miscarried when I was 4 months pregnant. But broken heart from the loss of a child is forever. And I lost my only daughter in 2018 she was only in her 40's.

Wow, seeing all these precious little ones who likely died of illnesses we are so fortunate to just treat with a trip to the pediatrician & to the pharmacy for antibiotics makes me remember to be grateful to be living in this day and age. Every picture has a huge story. But sadly most are lost to the sands of time in history. I’ll bet 100 years from now gravestones will have a button you can push and you can hear the persons voice and tell their story, perhaps even a hologram of pop up.
Thank you Maria. Glad you are with us here. I agree....just think, they each had lives with infinite stories and experiences...but no way to retrieve the experiences, the memories. I often wonder what those stories were as I look at the pictures here...
Such an interesting and poignant video. I am so blown away by the respect you show to these graves, by not standing on them. I was always taught not to stand on resting places, but many youtubers tend to just plough over them to get to the ones they want. Thank you.
Your camera takes beautiful pictures. Ever photo was clearly visible. It's wonderful to see the actual person that now rests in that spot. Thank you for sharing.
It is tremendously sad that the mortality rate of the people from that generation was so low, that they did not have a chance at living to a ripe old age and fulfilling their hopes and dreams like we currently enjoy today. Mount Carmel is famed for notable interments like Al Capone and his crew and although the mobsters life expectancy was short, those who did not engage in criminal activity, seemed even shorter if the dates of birth and death on the headstones is anything to go by. Jennifer Seno and Sebastiano Zito really does hit home how fragile life was back then and how privileged we really are today. Even during a worldwide pandemic, I am truly grateful for the life I have. Many thanks for posting! Much appreciated and stay safe!
I always wonder what these beautiful children died of it’s so sad knowing they never grew up and lived a life and thanks for sharing another interesting video❤️
@@Europa1749 Perfect comment. It is because of the many such deaths that warranted vaccines to come into existence. Yet we have a number of parents who still get lost in the hoopla of the untrue #'s in a study not proven or only done on a small # of children. Smh. It's so frustrating.
I'd say the children died from many viruses & bacteria that we now have a vaccine or cure for in some fashion. If it was starvation or homicide these parents wouldn't have went through the trouble or would've been unable to pick out such headstones/markers that memorialize their child's life. 🥀🕊

Beginning at 12:27--The marker and portrait of Carmela Cortese is amazing! There HAS to be a mistake made either in the marker's date inscriptions someplace or the wrong portrait was affixed to the stone. IMHO. My wife's First Communion in the RCC was at the age of seven. Since most Italians are born into the RCC, I think Carmela had her first communion at that age--like my wife. The portrait looks like that of a young bride. Her face is much more mature than a ten-year old's and the bridal head adornments are much more elaborate than what one would expect for an Italian Catholic child dressed for First Communion. I wonder if the family knows about the inscriptions and portrait not really matching up? Another beautiful autumn day at Mt. Carmel, Ron.

Hi Ron this was another interesting walk. Really like when you pause on a pic and zoom in. It gives us a chance to see what you see. Your awesome Ron love listening to your voice! Take care and be safe out there!!😀✌

Right.
What an amazing cemetery, so many beautiful stones and pictures.
So so sad😭😭little angels👼👼may they all rest in glorious peace🙏🙏
I love the stories that you tell and how respectful you are at all the cemeteries you visit.
I didn't know ow they had these porcelain photos on the older grave stones from 1800's. I thought mistackingly that it was a new thing to do.
But we get so much information from you.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you for sharing this Mr Ron ❤
So sad to see the little ones.but those pictures are just amazing.RIP🙏🕯️
Thank you another great video. Children and babies break my heart. Amy
Poignant and beautiful! Thank you for taking us to the cemeteries of the forgotten.
Hello Sr thank you for another great video. 💐
Thank You for keeping them alive 😊
So historically sad. Before antibiotics and any disease would have taken them. The young girls are in communion dresses. It was common to take a photo for communion. Getting to the year 1918, many may have succumbed to the Spanish flu pandemic. It is amazing to see people from the past. There may be few alive who remember them. Thank you.
My son died of rsv in 1993. A common killer of babies
Apryl, I am so sorry, maybe I missed it, but I don't remember you mentioning....not remembering, ----anyway, sending my deepest condolences.

These are such beautiful children.I really like seeing the pictures and being able to put faces to the names. God be with these poor souls.🙏🙏🙏
My condolences mum

Oh Debbie, that is heartbreaking to hear that you’ve suffered so terribly for so long. I had trouble getting pregnant, and I miscarried twice - both early in the first trimester. I was absolutely devastated. Eventually, I had a boy and a girl - twins. I will never forget that pain of loss. Hugs and prayers for you, Debbie. xxxx
@@vfiles1 thank-you for your prayers. I just lost my oldest granddaughter (my daughters firstborn) on April 29th . Its just horrible to lose children as well as grandchildren. I'm sorry for losses. You are definitely in my prayers sweetie. 🙏💜
I appreciate that you are careful when stepping around graves, so many people today just walk wherever without a care that they walk on someone's final resting place, we were brought up to respect gravesites and never walk over the deceased.
Thank you for another wonderful tour.
Wow, seeing all these precious little ones who likely died of illnesses we are so fortunate to just treat with a trip to the pediatrician & to the pharmacy for antibiotics makes me remember to be grateful to be living in this day and age. I think often I take it for granted. Thanks for the reminder.
On a side note, it's kinda cool knowing this is all in my backyard, as they say. I live very close to this cemetery. In fact, my dad is buried there and my mom is in the next one down. We've always called that area 'cemetery row' because there's so many... on both sides of the road even!
So many deaths so many stories! I'm not scared of death but, so scared of how I will die!
amazing upload.. being a dad with twin 4 year olds its very touching to see those young faces especially those babys. makes u realise how fragile life is. the photos that were taken after they passed they look so peaceful
MY MOM ALWAYS TOLD ME NEVER STEP ON THE GRAVES ALWAYS WALK AROUND THEM ,,,🙏 DURING THE VICTORIAN ERA MANY PPL TOOK PHOTOS OF THEIR DESEASED LOVED ONES ,,THEY DID THIS ALOT ,EVEN FAMILY PORTRAITS

I love how you make sure you show respect by not stepping on the graves.
The ‘c’ in Vincenzo is pronounced like a ‘ch’. “Vin-Chenzo.” the Natale is pronounced Na-tal-ay.
Thank u. I can read Chinese words on other videos but cannot pronounce Vincenzo and Natale correctly
So wonderful how you show the resting places of so many and show they were real people who mattered.
When my husband passed in late 80s I noticed one headstone of a young man that had a picture (passed in mid 70s) and that was only one I'd seen.........fast forward to about 6 months ago started watching different u tubers as well as my own visits I started noticing them. I would always wonder what their lives were like and I agree the pictures do give a better glimpse 💗 🕊️
Every picture has a huge story. But sadly most are lost to the sands of time in history. I’ll bet 100 years from now gravestones will have a button you can push and you can hear the persons voice and tell their story, perhaps even a hologram of pop up.
@@FacesoftheForgotten wouldn't surprise me. But my story ain't so hoorah 😁

I agree....just think, they each had lives with infinite stories and experiences...but no way to retrieve the experiences, the memories. I often wonder what those stories were as I look at the pictures here...
The children are beautiful, sleeping angels, what a heartbreak and tragedy to the parents, God bless them all , thanks Ron 😊
Hi, First one here! Love your videos, you take beautiful and respectful pictures of the dearly departed
Pictures on the graves you visit are the clearest I've ever seen anywhere
Such an interesting and poignant video. I am so blown away by the respect you show to these graves, by not standing on them. I was always taught not to stand on resting places, but many youtubers tend to just plough over them to get to the ones they want. Thank you.
Nice one Ron. I’m glad you mentioned about the camera. I stream UA-cam through my appleTV and it comes across super clear.
Love your video ... thank you for sharing with us 🙏🏼❤️
Your camera takes beautiful pictures.
Perhaps these anti-vaxxers should tour a cemetery like this and look at the photos of these children who would be alive today because of vaccines.
THEY DEF GROWING UP IN HEAVEN WITH JESUS
I always wonder as well... Almost wish it would say on the backside of the headstone ..

So many children passed in the early 1900's and prior. I do ancestry and my grandmother's parents lost three babies shortly after birth. The medical advances have really made a difference in child birth and life expectancy.

Hi Ron, all you need to read the names etc on the grave stones is a torch, if you rest the torch on the stone at the start of each word it makes a shadow so it is very easy to read.

@@FacesoftheForgotten Everyone is correct! It's all in the language; in the U.K. it's a Bowler and in the U.S., a Derby. But, I've heard both terms used here (I'm one😁).
@@FacesoftheForgotten the difference is....the derby is American, and the bowler is British. ❤
I live on the east coast and have visited a few graveyards over the years ( Arlington National, Harpers Ferry, a few in Ohio, and several across the pond, all over the UK and Ireland), but honestly I don’t think I have ever seen any with photos. Granted the ones in England , Scotland, Wales, and Ireland were centuries old in many cases, and amazing in their own right, I haven’t seen any in the the US. I think that is really lovely, and brings that person to life if only for the time you are visiting. It seems to be a lot of Italian names in this cemetery. My mom is Italian and some of those names seem familiar when she is talking about people in her past. Really interesting channel. You are respectful and tell the stories quite well. And your camera is phenomenal
