Isnt it instructive that the leaning tower of Pisa is one of the most known buildings in the world but nobody knows about this huge and epic cathedral just beside it?
I think in 1962 I was there. Went up the tower 3x, each time with different adults ( I was 9.). Went into the cathedral and can't find photos of what I saw. What I saw was plain, stone, spacious and inspiring. For awhile I thought I might've been in a vestibule but couldn't find photos. AND I don't remember walking that far after exiting the tower. So I'm thinking that I was in a presbytery where participants in Mass gather before entering the chancel. It kind of makes sense that the plain-ness that I remember was actually a presbytery . . . where "participants" would mind-meld into purpose of their gathering. The floor plans show side rooms to the chancel. Something that I appreciate that church is recognized as "church" by Google offerings in that they frequently mention "decorations". The mind-meld is the purpose and Narcissus is the experience so that people don't harden their hearts with outside leanings.
I had no idea that the Cathedral tilted as well. Interesting.

what is the origin of word " pisa"?
Nobody knows actually
It isn't sure, it come from "pisos", which is Greek for irrigated land. But historians discuss about the origin of this name.
Not the place I remember.
