It is not an easy job to draw the border between the history of Italy and the history of Rome. In so many places, the two political and geographical entities collide. They wouldn’t be possible without each other, but they each have their own story. Rome’s history is only a small fragment of Italy’s history. Although it is just a city, Rome was the birthplace of the republic, a great empire, and notable philosophers, poets, and artists. But on a larger scale, Rome expanded its borders, spreading not only through Italy but also through the whole known world. In that context, Rome ceased being only a city; it also became a universal imperial symbol and the pride of Italy.

Not exactly little known if you have visited, but the tower has I believe 5 balconies that you can step out onto as you ascend the tower. Each level offers its own perspective onto the surrounding area with the top level having the most grandiose view.

I lean towards this being an informative video.

Nice video. I knew about the 1999 efforts at removing soil to let the tower settle. My question would be why they didn’t keep removing more while the tower was already being braced to prevent collapse.

According to an American I overheard in Florence. It’s called the Leaning Tower of Pisa because it was designed by a man called Pisano. Utter genius!

At some point in the 1980s, Superman decided to straighten up the famous leaning tower, but after several days (perhaps weeks) the orphaned Kryptonian returned to Pisa and re-leaned the tower. 😉

Why so much of the "aging" filter to try to make the video look old? Too annoying to watch. Disappointing.
