Enjoyed that... Like the way you don't get angry... Just try to work through it knowing you will suss out the problem eventually.. Regarded as one of the best long distance cruisers.. frustrating the problems your encountering indeed. Great to see you back on the Quad side again. 👍👍🙏
Getting annoyed doesn't fix much. Although sometimes I have to walk away and give a particular problematic model a few days until I want to come back to it :)
Awesome flying and review, Wayne! 😃 But yeah, BF 4.4 has been having lots of issues... I really hope 4.5 comes out soon! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hi CK, I've been using BF 4.4.1 on my Chimera 7 for a while and have not had any problems with GPS rescue. I've upgraded to the newer Blitz F7, but the Succex Twin-G should work too. You might have a config problem, the number of sats went below the threshold, some sanity check failed, or maybe a loose GPS cable. I noticed that the GPS indicator disappeared on your OSD when it started to drop and then it came back. I'm using these settings and it seems to behave: set gps_rescue_sanity_checks = RESCUE_SANITY_FS_ONLY set gps_rescue_min_sats = 8 set gps_rescue_allow_arming_without_fix = OFF Just some ideas. I hope you are able sort it out.
Cheers - the sats disappearing for an instant is the Walksnail issue it has with the OSD (which they are attempting to fix). I think I've found the issue in both problems, and it's motor failure. Just out of interest did you have the 1300kv 2806.5 motors?
Hi mate what was the issue ? I lost my chimera in a lake at the weekend activated gps rescue and it literally span out and landed into a lake I have another chimera coming today I just want to make sure gps rescue works this time Thanks
With my one, I found that the connections from the motor windings had failed in two of the motors. They seemed to do so under a high load - like switching into RTH/ The replacements I got from iFlight are much beefeir motors (I covered this in a follow up video) and now RtH is fine and I've put some hours into flying without any issues
It's happen to me after swapping walksnail into my analog long range quad. Walksnail is interfering my gps and crossfire. I swapped it back to analog and everything Back to normal. No worries about gps and lq. I already sold my walksnail.
On iflight battery it probably dropped due to betaflight settings as it was set when to cut off power (3.3v default I think?), where with other battery you finished at 3.32v nearly hovering before that. Im just assuming it's because of that. Regarding the gps rescue, I hope you managed to set it correctly as it probably was bug in settings.
So in Betaflight you set a warning and mic value for the voltage. This doesn't cut your power or anything, it just sets what sort of message is displayed. What I found later (there's videos on my channel) is that I had 2 dodgy motors there, both with breaks in the connection between the motor windings and the regular wire. One of which would have certainly caused this weird issue. I've got all the bits to rebuild the Chimera now in it's more recent config with better motors and upgraded FC and ESC
Antenna setup for t-mount why i dont like elrs 2.4 for long range. Id def do diversity and have a front mount antenna sticking lower than the frame by half an inch. Or use bardpole in the back that sits up high not being blocked by drone
Omg so weird fell out the sky. I find even if return to home throttle off it still didnt fall out the sky. Oh just got to part u said 4.4 issue with iflight. Oh..
Turned out to be issues where the motor wires connected to the windings that would disconnect under load. i'm rebuilding the quad at the moment with new motors (and other things)
I would do, but GPS in iNav means I also need a compass and that usually means putting it up on the stick so the compass isn't messed with by the frame/electronics - which I don't like. That is unless iNav doesn't require a compass for quads any more?
@@CurryKitten I can fit GPS compass Matek m8q-5883 on 4 inch quad (flywoo explorer lr 4). The only modifications other than new GPS mount was moving the buzzer to the middle. The new GPS mount is at the same location as the original GPS.

There is the concept of "if 4.4 is buggy, do we trust 4.5!"
Great stuff. Can't wait for the mystery to be solved in the next video..
I have found the problem, but it's not easily fixable without parts.
great video ! 👍
Thank you! 👍
Look forward to seeing the iFlight software reset and rescue mode in proper order.
Fingers are crossed!

@@CurryKitten thanks mate. So really the motors come with the quad aren’t sufficient to hand the switch to RTH?
Well...the thumbnail has a typo 😂 6s 400mAh - slightly less than expected
Whoops. I watched that through about 3 times looking for issues... and there it is staring me in the face. Oh well, the thumbnail is at least fixed

There's certainly more noise from digital to VTX's, but I've never seen any problems on ELRS (albeit on 2.4)

Walk Snail not Walker snail?
Is this a question, or did i stumble over my words in art of the video?

@@CurryKitten oh I had that. Motor wire broke right where winding started. I couldn't fix it. Had to buy a new motor.
INAV 6.1.1. That will fix your long range cruising quad issues.
I find the compass part of using iNav on quads a pain. You always end up with it on a stalk
BF GPS rescue 😑
Go straight for INAV if you have GPS. We don't do hard freestyle or racinf with 7 inch long range quad anyway.
