i tried out ret too and its fun, even tho its broken it is genuinely fun but i think the state of the game is pretty bad when a burst spec is doing more burst and consistent damage than literally any other class in the entire game like why play unholy when u can play ret why play warrior when u can play ret why play rogue when u can play ret why play any melee or really any caster when u can play ret now my main doesnt feel fun, and my alts that arent rets dont feel fun its just a stressfest im happy that rets have a solid foundation for a spec now but the numbers yall put out are simply too high thats just a fact

@@Spartacon88 I don't know man.. even when other classes were OP, they're mostly only good in one aspect. Like if you have a lot of utilities, then you're very likely to be short in damage. Or your spike damage is super high, but the consistent damage is low. It's a trade-off. And the OP classes are usually good only because certain features of the current meta amplify their advantage and hide their disadvantages. But last week's ret pally? It was something else. They have all the utilities, tanky as a raid boss, high consistent damage, and frequently one-shotting people. There were no weaknesses, and other classes didn't even stand a chance. This is against the fundamental design of wow pvp and just purely not right. I guess that's the reason Blizzard didn't even wait until reset to tune Rets down.

Think it's good Ret. talents got better but one minute wings is just fundamentally too strong in PVP. Besides that the sustain is very good now as well and that makes ret basically good at everything which is too much.
Definitely going to second the important bit that, gladiators play like gladiators. Great players, especially your healer, communicated like pros and got the job done. Nothing ground breaking news about it, but the same task would be a bit more different with to elemental shaman and a godly healer, or two DKs and a God healer. Retribution is in an ok spot when not shut down by ranged classes. And Judgment of the pure was nerfed to a 14th of its former self in battlegrounds or ¹/3 of its previous power in threes. Only removes magical effects from the Ret who casts it. No more mass dispell unless you bring a priest, like you did, so I guess you like dispells.
I would argue that judgements of the pure not dispeling allys is much more of a nerf then 66%, since atm it can be used to consistently remove cc from your healer
@BecjedMW my math was each player being auto dispelled if within 40 yards is 100 percent of the dispells possible in 3s, making it only dispell the caster of judgement removes its function for 2/3 of your team which is 66% of your team. What I was not saying is the nerf is a 66% reduction to overall paladin viability.
The sad thing is blizz has been killing it with frequent balancing. Then this abomination gets through. To their credit they did try to fix it without deleting it pretty quick and Ret is now just S+ tier, but auto judgement dispel with double charge on a low cd needs to go. After that they'll just be regular S tier and someone has to be might as well be rets and warriors.
Demo locks, rogues, arms warr, DHs... this entire expansion has been plagued by overpowered specs, ret rework just made a lot more people bring out their alts.

So if you line up your damage correctly you will do 2/3 of someones hp in an instant. Like just move inquisitor's ire and divine arbiter off of verdict and the class would be so much easier to evaluate.
People are ired because one PvP talent is hard countering certain specs, and without any thought or adjustment required. Your rotation doesn't change, you don't need extra globals spent, no CD trading involved. You just dispel debuffs from classes that are designed around them having uptime. Shadow priests and elemental shamans seem to be hurt the hardest. For comparison, imagine if elemental shamans disarmed you on every flame shock cast or prevented you from using or generating holy power. You'd be fuming.
How is a throwable cleanse on a short cd which dispels so much not OP? Casters struggle enough to get spells off with thiszugzugmeleecomp fest, trying to reapply dots as a shadow priest/affli lock ALL the time is HORRIBLE gameplay because by the time the dots are back up, theyve been dispelled again. Its "more" OP now because EVERYONE has rerolled ret, there is a ret in every single game ive played so far. Bring on the nerfs to ret, or buff some other spec to make all these garbage rerollers reroll for the 3249029843792th time this expansion.

How do I gear up fully in a day? I know there’s the catchup mechanism aka no weekly cap any longer but it’s still a grind and it’s hard and tedious without previous gear. How do you do it, am I missing something?
I have been screaming this on the Ret forums for a month when they first started. Some of the design decisions were just absurd. Crusading Strikes a month ago was the most broken talent they ever added to Ret back then. You could tell a month ago it was going to be broken.

why i stopped playing deagonflight is because of the class balancing its quite bad from the lack of neglect on some classes down to not doing anything about ret paladins.
You do realize that there's no point in playing Rogue ever since the rework and Paladin is probably the closest you can be at playing rogue? Sub lacks any damage outside of Shadow Dance and they rely on a gimmick of doing a ton of damage via capstone talents. Outlaw does that damage that pretty much tickles and falls flat on their face in pretty much every aspect. Sin Rogues were attempted to be balance but blizzard messed that up because they introduced talents and changes that counteracted the nerfs they were supposed to receive. If we're going the CC route, Outlaw is going to get hit the hardest when it comes to the CC chains with Sub being buffed and Sin remaining Neutral. 10.1 Crit Damage change also hurts Outlaw harder than the other 2 specs which have had their time to shine. Compare that to Ret Paladin which takes 5 seconds to learn the class, set up macros, keybinds, and a couple hours to gear and it's the easiest path to Duelist. If you're still getting ratio'd by rogues in arenas now, you're probably bad at knowing when they burst and need to record a couple game sessions to rethink how to engage rogues because once you figure it out, Rogues are easy to counter. I've done it and you should be able to.
You’re also playing with top tier players and you’re a rank 1 player yourself. Multiple people have went 2400 on every class in a few weeks of playing each one. This doesn’t mean something broken nor does it surprise anyone that you can get to 2300 on any class.

Ret pally here. I really misjudged Venruki a few month ago after the big ret nerf before the rework, but now I can say I was so wrong. He really want to have a healthy pvp environment with every class to be viable, fun to play and have an impact in the game. One thing I can say for sure to everyone, just so you know. We rets, the ones that play the spec for a long time, know that the spec is OP right now and we do not want that to be. We want a solid A tier for every class (impossible? maybe). And also, we hate the FOTM people as much as everyone, is not fun either as ret to go against another every game and in SS to have teams of 2 rets, its unfun, we want to see every spec in the game. In regards to your comment about everything lining up for rets CD wise, wings, FR, on use trinket, all of that only works cuz of the rework. before then it was an awful mess of mismatched CD timers
It wasn't an awful mess. The only bad part was seraphim and FR were less than 1min. All you did was hold off using them for 15 seconds. Every other wings you'd have trinket. And if you weren't just pressing buttons as soon as they came off CD you could line up trinket , seraphim and FR every minute. That's not hard.

Surely Rets are very strong but idk if its a casual look at them if the best PvPers in the game pick that class up for a showcase to the masses ^^ obviously multi R1 people that played the game for literally the entire WoW History in PvP are doing very good on any class. Like every good player i watch picked up just any class in the game and pumped it to 2500 or even 3k+ rating in shuffle like its nothing, thats not only with Ret. The core understanding of PvP and thousands of thousands played 3s games as experience is a nice little foundation for Success with any class in WoW PvP. Obviously Ret is very strong right now and judgment dispel is OP but just saying im not impressed when multi rank 1 PvPers that played this game for ages and do a living out of that can do well on a strong class. You should do well if you spent half ur life on a game, if not that would be pretty sad. Not trying to be a dick here i just look at it from a realistic standpoint.

True, their teamplay and gameknowledge is enough to get high rating on whatever class they're playing. But there's still a problem with current ret's gameplay being way too simple. We lost SO MANY buttons with this rework. And so many mechanics that previously were active and required proper treatment are now passively giving you same boost (or even stronger). We lost crusader strike, serpahim, dask&dawn is basically passive, exorcism, FR and ES (now its choice node), JV and TV (now its choice node). We never cast anything. Blizzard basically turned Ret into DH. What they truly need to do now is to get rid of that autoattacking CS bullshit (nerf this shit to the ground in PVP), return Seraphim and bring wings back to 2 min CD, remove that 20 yard range BS and GIVE SOME MOBILLITY!!!!!! WTF BLIZZARD! EVERYONE'S BEEN ASKING FOR FUCKING MOBILLITY, WHY YOU GIVE US 20Y RANGE?????? khm khm... Sorry, that just came out. And I'm saying that as Ret main, who's been maining it since Cata.

I play Ret and several other classes. That’s a huge exaggeration. Ret is good. But I also enjoy the other classes I play just the same. Disc is my fav atm. Everyone is really overreacting because it’s just not usually Ret. It’s usually mage or rogue that is op and nobody pays it much mind when it’s those classes.

The weird part for me is watching this just feels like watching RMP matches... the enemy team fucks up, RMP capitalizes and eventually they kill. RMP also has the utility also... and laughing evilly and acting like other 3s teams can't kill people seems sus also. On top of it watching you play against comp's that are starting the 1500s to 1600s (been checking Armory on some of the enemy teams) while you are ... what on your main? Even near the end of the video and seeing some 2100 people. 375 Conquest per box, should be the last option at the conquest vendor. You can then mail that box to your alts

There are no true rets, just rogues that re rolled ret to get them nerfed so rogues can remain melee gods!
There are either rets who play ret for 15 years and refuse to try anything else, or rogue rerolling everything what's meta
Rogues are dog shit right now even if Ret's were OP so that doesn't make sense.
You do realize that there's no point in playing Rogue ever since the rework and Paladin is probably the closest you can be at playing rogue? Sub lacks any damage outside of Shadow Dance and they rely on a gimmick of doing a ton of damage via capstone talents. Outlaw does that damage that pretty much tickles and falls flat on their face in pretty much every aspect. Sin Rogues were attempted to be balance but blizzard messed that up because they introduced talents and changes that counteracted the nerfs they were supposed to receive.
If we're going the CC route, Outlaw is going to get hit the hardest when it comes to the CC chains with Sub being buffed and Sin remaining Neutral. 10.1 Crit Damage change also hurts Outlaw harder than the other 2 specs which have had their time to shine.
Compare that to Ret Paladin which takes 5 seconds to learn the class, set up macros, keybinds, and a couple hours to gear and it's the easiest path to Duelist.
If you're still getting ratio'd by rogues in arenas now, you're probably bad at knowing when they burst and need to record a couple game sessions to rethink how to engage rogues because once you figure it out, Rogues are easy to counter. I've done it and you should be able to.
You’re also playing with top tier players and you’re a rank 1 player yourself. Multiple people have went 2400 on every class in a few weeks of playing each one. This doesn’t mean something broken nor does it surprise anyone that you can get to 2300 on any class.

Im guessing your one of those morons that plays ret cause its easy and has a million defenses yet you still think that they should do as much damage as other classes with FA defensives? Rets were already way strong before any of these updates so if you were struggling then it has nothing to do with your build you are just trash at the game
Ret pally here. I really misjudged Venruki a few month ago after the big ret nerf before the rework, but now I can say I was so wrong. He really want to have a healthy pvp environment with every class to be viable, fun to play and have an impact in the game. One thing I can say for sure to everyone, just so you know. We rets, the ones that play the spec for a long time, know that the spec is OP right now and we do not want that to be. We want a solid A tier for every class (impossible? maybe). And also, we hate the FOTM people as much as everyone, is not fun either as ret to go against another every game and in SS to have teams of 2 rets, its unfun, we want to see every spec in the game. In summary, thank you for pointing out the issue Ven and for the professional opinion on the matter. Much respect!

In regards to your comment about everything lining up for rets CD wise, wings, FR, on use trinket, all of that only works cuz of the rework. before then it was an awful mess of mismatched CD timers
It wasn't an awful mess. The only bad part was seraphim and FR were less than 1min. All you did was hold off using them for 15 seconds. Every other wings you'd have trinket. And if you weren't just pressing buttons as soon as they came off CD you could line up trinket , seraphim and FR every minute. That's not hard.

Surely Rets are very strong but idk if its a casual look at them if the best PvPers in the game pick that class up for a showcase to the masses ^^ obviously multi R1 people that played the game for literally the entire WoW History in PvP are doing very good on any class. Like every good player i watch picked up just any class in the game and pumped it to 2500 or even 3k+ rating in shuffle like its nothing, thats not only with Ret. The core understanding of PvP and thousands of thousands played 3s games as experience is a nice little foundation for Success with any class in WoW PvP. Obviously Ret is very strong right now and judgment dispel is OP but just saying im not impressed when multi rank 1 PvPers that played this game for ages and do a living out of that can do well on a strong class. You should do well if you spent half ur life on a game, if not that would be pretty sad. Not trying to be a dick here i just look at it from a realistic standpoint.

To be fair, you can get to that rating and just as fast with pretty much any specs with your skill level and your team mates. You guys are the elite of the elite. 2.4 is nothing for you beasts…
True, their teamplay and gameknowledge is enough to get high rating on whatever class they're playing. But there's still a problem with current ret's gameplay being way too simple. We lost SO MANY buttons with this rework. And so many mechanics that previously were active and required proper treatment are now passively giving you same boost (or even stronger). We lost crusader strike, serpahim, dask&dawn is basically passive, exorcism, FR and ES (now its choice node), JV and TV (now its choice node). We never cast anything. Blizzard basically turned Ret into DH.
What they truly need to do now is to get rid of that autoattacking CS bullshit (nerf this shit to the ground in PVP), return Seraphim and bring wings back to 2 min CD, remove that 20 yard range BS and GIVE SOME MOBILLITY!!!!!! WTF BLIZZARD! EVERYONE'S BEEN ASKING FOR FUCKING MOBILLITY, WHY YOU GIVE US 20Y RANGE?????? khm khm... Sorry, that just came out.

Now after the damage nerf, Ret actually dont feel bad to play against. They are great class but not absurdly broken and unbeatable like it was last weekend.
It’s just a very well-built class right now if they did a rework to everything it would feel this way on everyone’s class. People are just pissed off because it’s such a smooth class right now but you can still going to be out Bersted by certain classes and it’s not a guaranteed Win just because you play ret you still have to be good.
Glad rets are having fun, because everyone who isn’t playing one is not.
I play Ret and several other classes. That’s a huge exaggeration. Ret is good. But I also enjoy the other classes I play just the same. Disc is my fav atm. Everyone is really overreacting because it’s just not usually Ret. It’s usually mage or rogue that is op and nobody pays it much mind when it’s those classes.

The weird part for me is watching this just feels like watching RMP matches... the enemy team fucks up, RMP capitalizes and eventually they kill. RMP also has the utility also... and laughing evilly and acting like other 3s teams can't kill people seems sus also. On top of it watching you play against comp's that are starting the 1500s to 1600s (been checking Armory on some of the enemy teams) while you are ... what on your main? Even near the end of the video and seeing some 2100 people.

Yes hes a multi R1 and very competent on any class ... Like he says though he's beating some really good players/ Maybe druid died quicker than they thought possible, but ret burst is dumb and will always be dumb.
He's not though... check out the armory on people he's fighting against it starts in the 1500s and scales up to 2000/2100s while his main is 2600+. They look and feel like normal matches from an RMP point of view... wait til someone fucks up, capitalize, kill.
