She said that she was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in the film My Fair Lady. Audrey Hepburn was European and My Fair Lady was set in England. So her inspiration had nothing to do with the prompt. Beautiful dress, though.

@@KAROLWEWE i'm not saying she's american nor am i saying any of those are inherently american. audrey hepburn was EXTREMELY famous and important in american culture in her time (and STILL IS) therefore it makes sense that they would make a dress inspired by her. she has influenced a lot of american fashion (which is by definition: in theme)

I didn’t see the correlation at all, it seemed more Madonna/80s pop icon inspired, Evan mock’s was probably the most punk-esque. I’m ngl it was also a little bit painful when they referenced no doubt after they realised olivia’s was supposed to be a punk reference😭
The fact that Cody’s favorite was Keke Palmer’s dress is very accurate to how every man reacted to Keke Palmer at the Met Gala.
