The store owner, sorry didn’t catch his name, was so patient, even kind, with her especially with him fully aware she was trying to rip him off. He was respectful and didn’t treat her badly. I appreciated that.

I'm surprised she didn't tell him she's a christian. That's often an easy way to tell scammers, if they tell you several times that they are "christian". I got scammed by a couple who sold me a POS truck and lied about everything. I should have been suspicious at least by the 10th time they told me they were "christians".

You think that's tricky... I used to work at a Hechinger store (east coast chain like home Depot) and some guy was able to slide off the security banding on a 1/2" pneumatic impact gun and replace the contents with some used brake pads! I'm not even sure how long they sat on the shelf before it was discovered! After that we had to open all tool boxes open or not to check for the correct insides.
Used to do the same trick with cash for clothes you soak the clothes at the bottom on the bag 😂

They never have the receipt. One guy even tried to get a refund on a smoke detector that had been tampered with (if we resold it, people could die). Addiction, hey. But that's why you have tamper-proof packaging and why you should remain professional.

I stole a snickers from a food lion super market because I was very hungry. I felt ashamed and cried in my car. I vowed I would try harder and I’ve never had to steal since.
