Lucky! Who opened? I got NIN tickets for December of 94 at MSG and Webster Hall. The Jim Rose Circus and Marylin Manson opened for them. I've always wanted to see Pantera live.
Your lucky. I was still little to young my mom wouldn’t allow it! I grew up with them and raised my kids to their music. Hell my mom was one of their biggest fans. Pantera rules !!
A great example of Phil's Motorhead, Black-Flag, AF influence is on display in the amazing song "Rise" from vulgar. It somes up those influences perfectly.

That's awesome! My first metal hardcore show was Venom with Cromags opening in Chicago. I like Agnostic Front better than Cromags but it was an awesome show.
I'm a drummer ...self taught my first drumset was a 14 pc Ludwig, I was 13 and realized I had an amazing gift... What I would have given to just have a jam session with Pantera!!

At least he acknowledged Metallica, for most youngsters not old enough to know, Metallica in the 80s were not the Metallica y'all know, they were some of the heaviest music you could hear, and pretty much unknown except for people like me and my friends, that's why they get so much hate now, they didn't sell out, they sold us out their original fans the ones that made them, but they're rich and famous now and ain't worried about making real music anymore. They became what they used to talk shit about in the 80s, posers, bunch of hypocritical twerps.
I could listen to Phil talk about anything all day.
And it would prolly take him all day to talk about anything LOL
first big concert I went to... Pantera Lubbock TX in july of 1994. one of my best memories

Omg I was there. We drove from Reese Airforce base. And got into some serious trouble that next morning lol small world.
That's so crazy to me. 2 ppl from different walks of life almost 30 yrs ago

Getcha pull!
You get the feeling that Phil's voice sounded like this in 4th grade...
Nah lol, that’s years of screaming and smoking. It’s weird hearing his early interviews in late 80s and early 90s. So drastically different
Phil didn't cry when he was born. he hit the high in cemetery gates.
I don't think so either, and that high in Cemetery Gates is fucking insane
Phil is my favorite vocalist.
Mans voice has a gravitational pull
Always expecting him to break into "good friends and a bottle of pills" with his vocal tones.
Pantera in 1992 was the ultimate pinnacle of my metal music
Metallica with BASS
Phil Anselmo's voice is in Drop C
🤣
Phil with the beard is always awesome.
"Disqualified" AWESOME.
Phil is a damn good story teller. Loved this retelling and how he describes those formative years.
I love you PHILL thanks for great memories and the absolute best music
i love phil, i love pantera.
Phils range on Cowboys From Hell was out of this world.
One of the best metal vocal's ever i'm 41 year's old 2021.Thank's phil.
I'm 44 and was discussing that to my old friend:
Phil is the best vocalist/frontman in metal for his overall skills imo
@@WqpW-WqpW todays 's metal is a joke compared to the power that pantera had.
This is ages old. (King phillip is always golden tho) STRONGER THAN ALL

Hmmm...2011 2012. Could be wrong tho. About there
When Phil left his parents house at the age of 14 to pursue his music career, he said "Dad, you're the man of the house now".
Smart man, as articulate as they get. Story telling pro-
No doubt, he would always tell stories in-between songs at concerts- great memories
Phil is a badass! Love ya, man.
Excellent details about his evolution in the early days.
Love you Brother. Your signature on my guitar is on of prized possessions. Love you Brother.
I wanna meet him one day man.
Noice!

That's badass I live in West Virginia. I saw a couple of songs at that show on UA-cam.
It must have been tough for Phil raising two parents as a single child.
Underrated comment.
To this day my go to!!!! Love you phil!
my 90s hero
I enjoyed this, thanks for posting
Phil could be the new movie preview's guy...
This summer..august 6...Phil Anselmo is:
The man with the third arm🤣
GREAT INTERVIEW
gwad is he really this tough. he even chews gum like he's kicking its ass!
Phil made Pantera and so did Dime and Vince. Perfect together
and Rex!
Use to see Pantera rock every weekend in 88 hard Rock Cafe 👍🏽
Ha, my first big show was also KISS in the 90s with the "you wanted the best, you got the best" tour that started in Topeka, Ks.
I grew up in Topeka and couldn't believe that KISS were kicking off their tour there. Maybe it was the zip code that drew them there. Lol
@@mikef3661 I remember the show fondly.

I had a huge 16 pc Ludwig set too in the 1980s. I could fit them in a Honda car with the bass drums on top! LOL!
He’s a decent guitarist if y’all ain’t never seen him play
He has a very ragged and raw way of playing, I dig it.
@Vic Rattlehead facts lol 😆
I forget what pantera video it was but yea he rocks that pentatonic scale🤘
Definitely is decent. He wrote some awesome riffs and had a different way of approaching riffs and guitar in general.
And dang that buckle buster too.thays a shiner and I'm saying it.hope it don't hurt to bad.
My dude...
But damn he is chewing the hell out of that gum!!!lol
1988 would be South of Heaven era, great tour.
I LOVE cryptic slaughter. happy to hear phil does too
fucking legend
I would do a lot of stupid things to be able to go back in time and see Pantera in concert several times on each of their tours.
I'm gonna invent either a parallel universe machine or a time machine, and we will save dimebag or go hang with him

Phil has the Guiness book of world record for chewing the same piece of gum over 9 years 344 days and 8 hours. Not really, but you wouldn't doubt it.
