I loved the Northern Nippon parts of Okami. It was just so cold and desolate. It felt like you were trudging along and the fact your flourish flowers helps the concept that you're the only life in the place. Also that final stage in the boss castle. Much love.
My favourite snow level (ironically) is fiery cavern from Warioland 4. The whole thing was presented as a lava level, so when it turns into an ice level at the halfway point, it really takes you by surprise.
I agree 150% with Shovel Knight and Animal Crossing. My favorite snow level is the route leading to Snowpoint City in the Sinnoh Pokémon games. That music! Those snow drifts! Just, so good.
I would have to say mount silver is better, it's not much of a level but just going there in the middle of nowhere and seeing red isolated in a flurry of snow training his team after fighting your way through a mountain all to arrive at the top , shrouded a blizzard of snow.
I think the only sewer levels that I liked were Aqua Tunnel in Freedom Planet and World 7-A in New Super Mario Bros [DS vers.] Which is funny because technically neither are sewer levels, just levels with pipes and water.
Spider's Gaming Arcadia Nothing was worse than the escort missions in WoW. I'm usually a completionist when it comes to side quests, but I flat out refused to do any escort missions in that game.
One of my favorite Caddi Video yet again. I never finish video without a painful stomach and permanent grin whenever the jokes came out, even though I watched this video more than once. And how he described his Top 10's is just so perfect that I can relate to it.
Caddicarus While I respect your opinion I am surprised that you didn't at least mention ice cap. Ice paradise is good yes but ice cap at least deserved a mention. Your opinion and your list though so you can do what you want. :)
My favorite snow level is the intro to borderlands 2. It contrasts with the original's intro and you remain in the snow for a while until getting to the more sunny desert and rainforest areas making it seem a lot more colorful.
No list of ice levels is ever complete without mentioning Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime. That music is perfect for the level, there's plenty of non-linearity, there's an ice temple and a Space Pirate base and an entire cave system to explore, it's where you first see the titular Metroids...easily the best part of Metroid Prime, Impact Crater excluded.
Kamui is always going to be my favourite snowy play in a video game. Okami's graphics are already amazing, but something about that place really stuck with me since I first saw it.
Unless It's About Time was set in a pirate fortress with Dingodile mentioning that he loves auctions because they're the only place you can smoke indoors, then Unkarted remains a pipe dream.
With the ending, I definitely agree Twilight Princess, but what I'm sad didn't show up was Snowhead in Majora's Mask. It sticks out the most to me, and honestly fighting Goht was really fun for me.
I love the snow level in rayman 3. The music is great, the atmosphere is outstanding and the snowboarding at the end just makes it an amazing snow level.
I thought no one would mention that level! That level has music that makes the place seem ominous and despite any parts with ice being slightly frustrating, I love(d) Snowy Mountain.
It is easy for me. It is one of the hardest in the game. Have you seen Spider Cave of how hard it is compared to Snowy Mountain. Have you played Jak 2.
LOL at the Frozen reference (kinda had it coming considering snow levels/snowmen). XD Frostbite Village is one of my favorite levels, it's so pretty and I love the music in it! I LOVE THE GAME! So I'm pleased you included it (I also expected it). I didn't know there's a Tomba 2 (well to be fair I didn't know about Tomba before watching your videos). That game looks interesting to play, also I like the snow level and its music! I hope to find that game somewhere. I laughed so much at the "Un-carted" realization/theory. XD Seeing how things went with Jak & Daxter and Crash Bandicoot, why not Uncharted as well. Also, that pun. I can't come up with a list of my favorite snow levels. Need a lot of thought in this.
I would've put Snowpeak ruins from Twilight princess on here near the top 3. (Though not the top 1. That spot deserves to go to Uncharted 2.) I loved that temple in Twilight princess. The way you get to the temple is amazing as well.
I agree with most but here are some of my other favourites! Shadow Moses, the snow level from Sonic Advanced 1, the snow level from Super Mario World, Arkham City and Origins (not sure if it was snowing in city), Syphon Filter 2's first level.. I'm sure I forgot some really great ones, why don't you all reply with yoyr favourite snow levels? Great vid as always Cad!
My favorite not on the list would probably be "Snowy Fields" from Kirby Epic Yarn. Though not very complex game-play-wise, It was very pretty and the stitch and cloth art style did wonders for the level.
Sir Fluffingtons Screw those exploding hollows. And that bridge dragon. That was probably my favorite part of Dark Souls though, glad you brought it up.
I assume that either Caddy has never played Banjo-Kazooie or purposely chose not to put Freezeezy Peak, a level is reminiscent of Snowman's Land, in his top 10.
I'd have to say my most memorable snow moment is in Zelda: Majora's Mask. Watching those Gorons freeze to death, the baby crying from the cold, and the old man frozen in ice. I still get *shivers* every time I play it.
Have to admit I'm suprised you didn't include the Shadow Moses section of MGS4, I thought that was pretty cool, especially with the Geckos hidden by the blizzard. Also I notice that Crash 3, Jak 3, and Uncharted 3s boxart are all set in a desert, does that mean we can expect a desert setting for The Last of Us 3? Followed by some sort of karting game.
The snow level in Journey.. Just gorgeous. It's impossible to explain, it's a game, nay, an experience, that I think everyone owes it to themselves to play at some point, and that level or part or whatever you'd call it is the emotional climax
Special UA-camr Opinion Guest: Ian Murray -Favorite Ice Level- My favorite Ice Level is Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime. When I first came across it I my mind was blown. The Alien ruins, the snow, the light fog, that feeling of isolation yet something was hiding in the snow waiting to ambush you. From the arctic underwater labyrinth, the Space Pirate Facility, the Quarantine where you fight Thardus to get the Spider Ball. Not to mention that chill electronic music Phendrana Drifts is known for. It's on of the best Ice Levels I Played.
My favorite snow level is from Bushido Blade. Love the quietness of the game. All you hear is your fighter and opponent and the thumping in the Japanese deer scarier fountain. Epic stage.
Gotta admit Journey has a beautiful yet haunting snowy level(s), looking a the buried and broken remnants of a previous civilization- especially how the frost and ice builds on your character.
Actually, Gungathal Valley really does make you question the continuity of the series. Since Clockwork can be seen watching the Coopers in every level. First off, where did he get medal in prehistoric times? And even if you take that out of it. Since the Cooper line started to be recorded during Ancient Egypt. Clockwerk must have been pretty bored until he was like, "ehh f*ck it, I'm going to watch this caveman's families for all eternity." And they just so happened to became one of the most notorious thieving clans of all time.
My #1 would have to be Valak Mountain from Xenoblade Chronicles. The music and blinding snow go together beautifully, and the way all the crystals glow yellow at night, illuminating the snow and giving an eerie yet awe-inspiring feeling is just perfect. And it even has a well due boss battle at the end to boot!
Honestly... Me too. Maybe it's just cause I'm Alaskan and I can really resonate with these sorts of levels? I used to hate them, but when I think about it, Ice levels are almost always some of my favorite sections.
Modnar47 I live in NJ sooo idk lol I also kinda like water levels too. :P The levels I don't like are teleport mazes, elevator levels, and climbing platform levels
Well, like water levels, they are very atmospheric and generally have great, peaceful, somber themes. What these levels lack in control and maneuverability they make up for in atmosphere, environments, and music. They just look great, and I love these settings too!
drunkendan Yeah, I guess I said that for lack of a better word. I still like these levels anyway, but mainly for atmosphere (Kirby's Epic Yarn, anyone?).
I swear if I see another non-skippable BT Infinity ad I will EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than that, one of my favourite snow levels was the planet Siberius from Ratchet And Clank 2. It had some cool variables, didn't exist solely for being a collect-a-thon (like Grelbin), and it had a great level design with your first taste of upgraded enemies. Oh, and you fight The Mysterious Thief for the first time. That bossfight is ace
True but I like it, besides it was a failed iteration of Resident Evil 4 that became it's own franchise ala Devil May Cry. The camera angles and the controls from Resi made it though.
TimHotston Wasn't Onimusha 1 supposed to be a PS1 game? One of Onimusha's glitches inspired one of DMC's biggest game mechanics. I also really want to see Caddy do a top 20 PS2 games list
Darth Vraak It is snow. In the game its snow that is falling. But in the movie its ash thats falling. You must have gotten the impression from the movie.
I'm actually really happy he mentioned Ape Escape 3 there at the end. That game, while yes very silly and rather simplistic, had some of my favorite level design. I played a bunch of it for my little bro, as it was originally bought for him and I was just supposed to be the "too cool" older bro helping him beat the tough levels, but after a while I just got captured by the huge variety of levels and how detailed they were. Every level felt different (with roots in TV and movies) and just had so much cool stuff hidden around in little nooks and crannies. Entire side areas to explore, hidden zones that sometimes completely shifted the mood or feel of a level. It still sticks out in my head to this day as one of the more interesting (and oddly nostalgic) games I've ever played, even if it is a bit silly and simplistic at times. It'd be interesting to hear Caddie's opinion on it.
man, i wish there was snow in here where i live... it's summer here, and it's F* hot... but i have to say, that list is good. and i was surpried to see that tombA was not in the nº1... and i was not surprised to see that you haven't played klonoa 2... or you don't like the ice level in it...
He has a copy of Klonoa 2 (you can see it for a moment in the Jaws video) and has most likely played it, considering the game is 14 years old. But I feel like it has more to do with the fact that he probably doesn't like the ice level. It wouldn't be on my list, either, and I love the Klonoa series, but Klonoa 2 isn't the best of the lot.
Blizzard Castle from Billy Hatcher And The Giant Egg always left an impression on me... partly because the first two missions there could and would kick your arse if you weren't careful (especially the slide in mission one, I've lost count of how many lives I lost on that slide), but then the third mission was a delightful and relaxed affair where you built a snowman.
I'd pick Gex3 deep cover gecko's Christmas level as my fav. So much time spent over it. Chasing penguins, fighting evil Santa, riding on a snowboard.. And that background music! Timeless.
I live in Florida and one time while I was out in the touristey area of town one holiday season I had a guy in a Hawaiian shirt and hat (the sure sign of a tourist) come up to me with his family and look at me asking dead seriously, "Hey, since it doesn't snow here do you guys still put up trees and celebrate Christmas?" ...ever since I haven't celebrated the holidays simply because all of my faith in humanity's intelligence as a species was crushed that terrible day. Thanks for that.
Freakin' Phendrana. Burnin' sheegoths with the Plasma Beam. I may break my copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy out again, after leaving it in its box for about half a month.
und3c1ph3r3d The best part of Phendrana was the music. The level itself... well, I won't lie, I always looked forward to when I got there, because the game really has fun stuff open up from there, but I hated the jumping parts in that section. And fuck the Pirate base there. Still, Metroid Prime is an awesome game. in my top 10.
Chaos89P I'm playing it again now too XD The sheegoths though! They were awesome! Xavier Price The music was amazing for sure! And I may be alone on this, but I really liked the way it was designed, with all the jumping and everything. Possible my favorite place in the game. And even the space pirate base. I mean, I played it when I was in 3rd grade right after it came out; that place was terrifying! I actually love it now. And plus, Thardus...
My favorite snow level is Snowy Mountain from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. The music was magical and oddly christmasy. The platforming was a bit difficult due to ice but it was still a blast to play through. Also the part where you get a Red Eco vent and about 100 little lurkers to rip through is so much fun.
Because he asked for our opinion on what our favorite levels are? And by your logic about banjo kazooie and mario 64 being on the same console... Silent Hill and Crash are both on his list. Are they the same game too? Get BTFO kiddo.
Creslin Hauck Crash bandicoot 2, silent hill and tombi 2 are all on the same system as well. I would like to add that caddicarus asked us for our opinion and freezeezy peaks just so happens to be one of, if not THE most popular christmas-themed level in video-games.
The snow level in Banjo-Kazooie always stuck in my mind... Oh! And Metroid Prime! Just had to edit my comment, but oh, don´t u forget the Metroid Prime one, in terms of soundtrack as well!!
I remember jumping at the end of the slide from the secret area and getting flung more than halfway down the mountain, dying instantly. It was glorious.
Aw, man, I loved Frost Man's stage in Mega Man 8, especially the 2nd half. Seeing the city skyline in the background was awesome, especially at night. The level gameplay was tough when I was younger, but after realizing the rhythm of the platforming, the whole thing became a tense blast of fun. F'ing love it ;D
I imagine you haven't played this game, but one of the best snow levels in my opinion is Snowy Fields from Kirby's Epic Yarn. I must say, that is a level that not only gives me ice and snow vibes, but also Christmas vibes, mainly because of it's music. Though I definitely do agree with Stranded Ship and Uncharted 2's snow areas, so good job!
At first I was confused since most of Journey is in the desert and I thought that you were making a joke. Though I remember the part where it's so cold that you have to stay close to your partner to warm up.
letsfail1 Geh wooo. Ich mag den Caddy weil er so viele PS1 Spiele reviewt. Und die PS1 hat mich ja großgezogen. Aber Brutalmoose ist natürlich auch ein guter Kerl :D
I like how Animal Crossing New Leaf was included on here, very adorable! And I totally agree that the AC games do create an odd yet warming sense of nostalgia. A couple of my favorite snow levels include Slipslide Ride in Donkey Kong Country-love the music, color palette, challenge, level design, and atmosphere, really one of my fav DK Country levels overall-and the ice levels in Mario Galaxy with both the fire/ice levels mashed together and the level where you race Cosmic Mario on blocks of ice.
While not exactly a level, Persona 4 Golden's 3rd semester is one of the most beautiful things I've ever had to experience in video games period. In the tail end of the game snow covers the whole place, you and your friends are dressed up in winter school uniforms, and "Snowflakes" is a masterpiece of a song. The game keeps reminding you that its near the end of the game, and to increase the bonds with your friends and the song's lyrics emphasises that your time in your hometown Inaba has come to a close, and it feels a bit melancholic but meaningful to usher in your goodbyes before you leave.
Sector Antila from Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is my top pick It sets up the game so beautifully: you've crash landed after your ship malfunctions and demons are everywhere. Slowly you make your way through the thick icy areas hoping to stay alive long enough to see if you can find other survivors. You see your boss get killed in front of you, and just when you're about to think it's going to be okay, bam, war-torn city covered in flames. It illustrates that not only is your journey far from over, but you're in a worse situation than you realized and that the only way to get out is to push forward and hopefully get your answers while trying to survive.
Joey Cyr No, it's the games too. In every game, no one sees the same thing. In Origins, Alessa is burned alive, along with a huge amount of White Claudia. White Claudia is a hallucinogenic plant found only near Silent Hill. The ash from the house and the drug in the air is what causes everyone to see different things. Example James S. saw monsters while, Laura didn't. The drug makes you see and deal with your own demons.
***** The GAME ITSELF tells you it's snow. It NEVER ONCE SAYS IT'S ASH. EVER. You can come up all you want with these ridiculous fan theories but the game OUTRIGHT said "snow" in both cutscenes AND the manual. SH1 and Shattered Memories are also THE ONLY GAMES IN THE SERIES to feature snow, and in the latter it was UNDENIABLY snow. The only reason you're saying "Everyone sees something different." is because you have nothing else to back up your argument, and that's not even true in Silent Hill 1 because everyone saw the same thing. Harry says it's snow, Kaufmann Says it's snow, the goddamn MANUAL says it's snow. IT'S SNOW. The only goddamn reason you think it's ash is because the movie said so. It was NEVER said ANYWHERE in the ENTIRE SERIES up until that point that it was ash, and even AFTER the movie came out none of the games ever said it was ash. The movies aren't canon. If the movie never fucking said anything about ash no one would believe it's ash. Stop fucking spreading this lie. Until the games say otherwise, It's not ash. IT'S NOT ASH. God I hate the movies for fucking up this series and making people think anything from them must be true in the games too. You want to prove it's ash? Go find me a quote from the games that says it's ash, like i gave you one that says that it's snow. Until then, anything you say is nothing more than baseless assumptions that have NO evidence to support it and is therefore not true.
Freezeezy Peak and Hailfire Peaks from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie are some of my favorites from my childhood. Snowball Valley and Bluey's Course from Diddy Kong Racing are also some of my favorites.
I know it's only a small area and not a full 'level' in normal retrospect, I love holly jolly village from mario and luigi: partners in time; the somber music, the Christmassy design... I just love it.
For me it's Secret of Mana's Crystal Forest with the wolves the crystal trees/shards and the beautiful music. Also the Super Nintendo Mario snowy nighttime levels with snow, twinkling stars and blocks that look like chocolate. I'm glad Tombi was mentioned.
The lack of at least an honorable mention for Ristar disappoints me. I would argue that those two levels are everything that snow levels are about--the music is cheery and themed, there's ice physics (but not an overbearing amount), you make snowmen, and you have a SNOWBALL FIGHT. COME ON, Caddy.
Diablo 2 act 5, the first map of Goldeneye 64, Winterspring in WoW, Mt. Silver in Pokemon, Frosty Village in Diddy Kong Racing, and College of Winterhold in Skyrim are some of my favorites. I fully agree about Animal Crossing's snow though, it is very relaxing. Especially since the music changes for the snow.
Zora's Domain. It's not actually a level, but as a little kid playing Ocarina of Time. It was fucking magical. The sparse tinkling sounds, and slight music. Along with the amazing visuals, the ice physics and the softly falling snow in the pond. It was otherworldly and amazing and blew my little kiddy mind.
That Un-karted joke was pretty fucking genius.
That joke has been around for a few years now.
Nice ass

Also that final stage in the boss castle. Much love.
Twilight Princess' snow temple is definitely one of my favorite Zelda temples of all time. It was just so good and original.
Snowy Mountain in Jak 1 was amazing imo, i love that level

Useless fucking comment.
yeah and my favorite snow part was the Whole Shadow Moses Island from Metal Gear Solid should be no 1.
Ellie Cake Just downvote it and move on. :P

UN-KARTED... just fucking BRILLIANT! :D
ICY what you did there
Just snow
Chill out with those puns.
I think someone needs to put these puns on ice.
cool it guys
My favourite snow level (ironically) is fiery cavern from Warioland 4. The whole thing was presented as a lava level, so when it turns into an ice level at the halfway point, it really takes you by surprise.
I agree 150% with Shovel Knight and Animal Crossing. My favorite snow level is the route leading to Snowpoint City in the Sinnoh Pokémon games. That music! Those snow drifts! Just, so good.
I want to play Shovel Knight so bad now, even more so after seeing this video.
JohnJohnsonLetsPlays Get it it's literally perfection.
I would have to say mount silver is better, it's not much of a level but just going there in the middle of nowhere and seeing red isolated in a flurry of snow training his team after fighting your way through a mountain all to arrive at the top , shrouded a blizzard of snow.
I'm going to make a top ten Ice levels in games, said no one ever :D
But like no one will ever make a top ten sewer levels.
Or a top 10 escort missions.
"I fucking love escort missions i do." Said no one ever.
Spider's Gaming Arcadia Well the top 3 would just be the entireties of The Last of Us, Resident Evil 4, and Bioshock Infinite. and then....... nothing
Lazza you lad...
I think the only sewer levels that I liked were Aqua Tunnel in Freedom Planet and World 7-A in New Super Mario Bros [DS vers.]

Obviously Caddi hasn't played sonic 3, cause if he had ice cap zone would be somewhere in this list.
I have. I prefer Ice Paradise!
Caddicarus Caddy! In the comments? WHAT IS THIS SORCERY!?
Holoska Day from Sonic Unleashed Wii/PS2 is good. Icecap from Adventure 1 is worth it just for the snowboarding segment.
Caddicarus While I respect your opinion I am surprised that you didn't at least mention ice cap. Ice paradise is good yes but ice cap at least deserved a mention. Your opinion and your list though so you can do what you want. :)
Caddicarus 0.0
MGS1 and especially MGS4 Act IV were among the best snow levels IMO.
My favorite snow level is the intro to borderlands 2.
It contrasts with the original's intro and you remain in the snow for a while until getting to the more sunny desert and rainforest areas making it seem a lot more colorful.
Anyone played Kirby's Epic Yarn?
Loved that game.
(It had snow levels)
THNK YOU FOR BRINGING THT UP!!!!!
It was fun

Planet Siberius from Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando was pretty awesome. That train derailing was sick.

ICE CAP ZONE.
TERRARIA SNOW BIOME, OH THE SOUNDTRACK.
I love the snow level in rayman 3. The music is great, the atmosphere is outstanding and the snowboarding at the end just makes it an amazing snow level.

All the snow levels in the first Ape Escape and The Thing are just amazing!
0:18 That strange moment when you have the same advent calendar as someone you're subscribed to.
Same here.
I like Snowy Mountain from the first Jak And Daxter game.
I thought no one would mention that level!
That level has music that makes the place seem ominous and despite any parts with ice being slightly frustrating, I love(d) Snowy Mountain.
It is an awesome snow level.
GreenCobrasGaming Fuck that level. That place hard as shit!

Mountains of Mira Mira in Klonoa 2 will always be my favorite snow level ♡
I agree with most but here are some of my other favourites!
Shadow Moses, the snow level from Sonic Advanced 1, the snow level from Super Mario World, Arkham City and Origins (not sure if it was snowing in city), Syphon Filter 2's first level..

Tak 2's snow level ;)
Painted world of ariamis(ariamais?) from dark souls
It was indeed snowing in Arkham City, due to Mr.Freeze's shenanigans

don't think he has
Was thinking the exact same thing.
I have played banjo kazooie. I hated that level
That is what I was thinking. Such a good snow level!
Yo! Caddicarus! Is it true? You should play Banjo-Kazooie!
Matter of fact if it's blind, I wouldn't mind watching a let's play of it.
I'd have to say my most memorable snow moment is in Zelda: Majora's Mask. Watching those Gorons freeze to death, the baby crying from the cold, and the old man frozen in ice. I still get *shivers* every time I play it.
NO FREEZEEZY PEAK! This is madness!

-Favorite Ice Level-
My favorite Ice Level is Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime.
The only Snow level or location I can think of is Valak Mountain in Xenoblade.
That area was just bloody beautiful. And huge.
And fun. Remember that ice slide and the geysers?
SassMaster9000 And that expoit where you can go FAAAAAR by jumping in the midst of sliding.
Aaron Vidales Yeah, that was fun until you landed and died of fall damage. That was a bit weird.
SassMaster9000
BUT IF YOU'RE RIKI YOU LIVE HAHAHA
thats actually one of my least favorite levels in the game
My favorite snow level is from Bushido Blade. Love the quietness of the game. All you hear is your fighter and opponent and the thumping in the Japanese deer scarier fountain. Epic stage.
The Final Fanatsy Tactics Advance Tutorial. Snowball fights. Yay.
yeah twilight princess is a good one. How about the end of Journey? It has a pretty powerful snow level.
agreeded.
lozsuperf1 "agreeded." Thanks for the laugh, pal.
If I made a top 10 snow levels list, the end of Journey would be number 1, no exception.
Gotta admit Journey has a beautiful yet haunting snowy level(s), looking a the buried and broken remnants of a previous civilization- especially how the frost and ice builds on your character.
The map Snowplow from TF2-- oh wait. Seriously though, I really like Swinedimples Academy from Dragon Quest IX.
Swinedimples! Nice. Love that bit.
BOWNIS DUKS!
Ohmygosh I loved swinedimples.
God
I'm so hyped for Un-Karted.
Off the top of my head I can think of 2 games that had epic levels/moments involving snow. Journey and The Last of Us
Why wasn't the Rayman 3 summit beyond the clouds on the list?
I second this
John Smith I loved that part ^u^
I was hoping to see someone mentioning this!
How about He Who Tames The Iron Horse from Sly 2? Anyone with me?
OH yeah :D
A wave if nostalgia just hit me :D
He who Tames the Iron Horse>Gungathal Valley!
I prefer 'Menace from the North Eh?' because of it's music.
I haven't watched this yet, but if Snowpeak Mountain from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess isn't on here, I'M GONNA... Be mad.
It's... See the video for yourself.
Darn... That was one of my favorite snow levels in all of video games :/
Feel free to get excited :D
you exspected nintendo on a playsstationnut top ten? well top 20 maybe but top 10?
It's in his honorable mentions at least! Better than nothing.
I have a confession to make...I like Ice levels
Honestly... Me too. Maybe it's just cause I'm Alaskan and I can really resonate with these sorts of levels? I used to hate them, but when I think about it, Ice levels are almost always some of my favorite sections.
Modnar47
I live in NJ sooo idk lol I also kinda like water levels too.
*****
it isn't usually the controls are bad it is just getting adjusted to a different way of moving.
drunkendan Yeah, I guess I said that for lack of a better word.
I want a trilogy retrospective on the Onimusha series - demons and samurai what's not to like.....
Tank controls form the first two games? I can imagine that not bothering Caddy.
True but I like it, besides it was a failed iteration of Resident Evil 4 that became it's own franchise ala Devil May Cry. The camera angles and the controls from Resi made it though.
TimHotston
Wasn't Onimusha 1 supposed to be a PS1 game? One of Onimusha's glitches inspired one of DMC's biggest game mechanics. I also really want to see Caddy do a top 20 PS2 games list
***** good scarface in top 3
donscottr
If he ever does a list like that.
That's snow in Silent Hill? I always thought it was ash.
Darth Vraak It is snow. In the game its snow that is falling. But in the movie its ash thats falling. You must have gotten the impression from the movie.
Yeah, that's probably it. The only Silent Hill games I ever played were The Room and Homecoming.
Only in the movie it is ash.
In my opinion you're lucky, I'm fed up with always having to wear a jacket and catching the common cold. >_
Edd-Taru In Australia, it gets so bloody hot. That's the biggest problem with Aus, also the government... also the spiders.
Still no snow in Texas...
Binkus Barnes i know how you feel I live there too + the prices of stuff
No Banjo Kazooie
... that's messed up dude
At least there was Uncharted 2 :D
Blizzard Castle from Billy Hatcher And The Giant Egg always left an impression on me... partly because the first two missions there could and would kick your arse if you weren't careful (especially the slide in mission one, I've lost count of how many lives I lost on that slide), but then the third mission was a delightful and relaxed affair where you built a snowman.
No Phendrana Drifts? Well damn.
It's not technically a level but Christmas time in Persona 4 Golden for me.
I'd pick Gex3 deep cover gecko's Christmas level as my fav. So much time spent over it. Chasing penguins, fighting evil Santa, riding on a snowboard.. And that background music! Timeless.
am i the only one who loves christmas town in kh2?
+BlueSilver no
Not watched it yet but i best be seeing sum crash 2 or I'll tek you out me top friends on myspace ;)
Good lad!
Why do all the lists forget Phendrana Drifts? :o I'm kind of sad about that :'( Still, great video XD
Even reading the comments, it seems everyone forgets Phendrana.
Chaos89P
I'm playing it again now too XD The sheegoths though!
And plus, Thardus...
und3c1ph3r3d Music, atmosphere, friggin' Thardus.
>not including Canada from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
I mean, come on.
Omg I totally forgot that level, love that game so much.
Why so many complaints about freezeezy peak? It's his list and he chose snowman's land, he can do what he wants.
Not the same game.
***** Same console.
***** Well obviously not because apparently the popular vote was snowman's land, so... What then?
No snow where I live: (
Me neither
You'd best move to Canada then, even in the southern parts, we get tons of snow!
This is why I hate living in California it never snows in almost every area of the state, including my home town. =(
I live in the southern hemisphere, where its summer during christmas, and it barely snows anyway
***** It never snows in Texas :(. Well maybe once, but it was more like permafrost.
The snow level in Banjo-Kazooie always stuck in my mind...
Oh! And Metroid Prime! Just had to edit my comment, but oh, don´t u forget the Metroid Prime one, in terms of soundtrack as well!!
Best snow level? Try Valak Mountain from Xenoblade Chronicles. The soundtrack... oh, the soundtrack!
and at night
I kinda wish I see it on more Ice level lists, as it is a fantastic level, and arguably my favorite area in the game. And that's a tall order.
i love that level so much
The ice slides were the best fucking things.
I remember jumping at the end of the slide from the secret area and getting flung more than halfway down the mountain, dying instantly. It was glorious.
Actually Silent Hill's "snow" is really ash.
Best Snow Level: Skyrim.
That isn't a level, thats a GAME.
+SCP-035 It's a JOKE.
Munger
"No it isn't." -The Black Knight, Monty Python and The Holy Grail.
where's freezeezy peak?
I know, right?
I imagine you haven't played this game, but one of the best snow levels in my opinion is Snowy Fields from Kirby's Epic Yarn. I must say, that is a level that not only gives me ice and snow vibes, but also Christmas vibes, mainly because of it's music. Though I definitely do agree with Stranded Ship and Uncharted 2's snow areas, so good job!
How could you forget Journey jvhbfcbb
It's ok he didn't remember adventure suryryurjytdrhjdr either 😣
At first I was confused since most of Journey is in the desert and I thought that you were making a joke. Though I remember the part where it's so cold that you have to stay close to your partner to warm up.
Oha, ich wusste gar nicht dass du auch den Caddy schaust.
Bester Englischer Reviewer eide
TheBLBShow Ich find Brutal Moose ein bisschen besser ^^
letsfail1
Geh wooo.
Ich mag den Caddy weil er so viele PS1 Spiele reviewt. Und die PS1 hat mich ja großgezogen.
Aber Brutalmoose ist natürlich auch ein guter Kerl :D
what about the winter chapter of the last of us
+Owiliansen That boss battle was so creapy
I like how Animal Crossing New Leaf was included on here, very adorable! And I totally agree that the AC games do create an odd yet warming sense of nostalgia. A couple of my favorite snow levels include Slipslide Ride in Donkey Kong Country-love the music, color palette, challenge, level design, and atmosphere, really one of my fav DK Country levels overall-and the ice levels in Mario Galaxy with both the fire/ice levels mashed together and the level where you race Cosmic Mario on blocks of ice.
Hey Caddy how do you feel about your arch nemesis Brutalmoose being now known as the Porn Game guy?
The whole BF2142 game.
I know 90% of you here are not fontäd of fps games. But still.
*fond
YEES! That new BF4 map with the Titan hanger is good too.
Sector Antila from Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is my top pick
It sets up the game so beautifully: you've crash landed after your ship malfunctions and demons are everywhere.
I love your pic! What's the character from?
Go look up slime girls on Gelbooru or something. I can't link it here, too lewd.
DarkSlimeGod I was just about to complement your good taste for choosing Strange Journey, But you just had to mention "Slim Girls", Did you? LOL
GMBalHajri1990 Part of my name, and the dude above asked where I got it. My hands were tied here, mate. lmao
I... had COMPLETELY forgotten about that. That's a really bad thing because Sector Antlia is literally the part of the game I'm in right now.
Um Silent hills "snow" and "fog" is actually ash.
No it's not.
theRMshow Yes it is actually.
***** pretty sure thats just the movie.
Shadow Moses island.
Freezeezy Peak and Hailfire Peaks from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie are some of my favorites from my childhood. Snowball Valley and Bluey's Course from Diddy Kong Racing are also some of my favorites.
Technically, in Silent Hill, it's not snow. It's ashes.
#4 is DEFINITELY the best. I almost cried from the beauty of it. A video game did this. I love it.
Phendrana Drifts, Shadow Moses, and Gex 3's North Pole level are one of my favorites~
My favorite is definitely Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime. Just absolutely beautiful and the snow fall looks amazing.
I know it's only a small area and not a full 'level' in normal retrospect, I love holly jolly village from mario and luigi: partners in time; the somber music, the Christmassy design... I just love it.
You know it's going to be a good video when you hear the death sound from Fallout almost immediately...
10:12 I don't know why, but this part makes me laugh my ass off. XD Must be how over-the-top it is combined with Caddy's voice and accent.
3:05 my favorite moment
Zora's Domain. It's not actually a level, but as a little kid playing Ocarina of Time. It was fucking magical. The sparse tinkling sounds, and slight music. Along with the amazing visuals, the ice physics and the softly falling snow in the pond. It was otherworldly and amazing and blew my little kiddy mind.
0:00 - 0:22
Is that how you will react EVERY day until Christmas?
I like it.
