One of my favorite games. Can't believe this game didn't get more traction. The world, controls, music, everything was great. It needs a sequel with the same sense of style.
I would love another Radiata Stories RPG, maybe one set in the past dealing with Alfred and El (now Elwen) and the fairy wars, or maybe don't go that far back and just meet a young Gawain and Cairn (omg, a young Larks and Jasne, maybe even meet Ridleys mother?? the possibilities are endless). The only thing it needs to do to make it succesful 1) keep the tone the same, 2) keep the art style 3) keep the funky music INSTANT PROFIT
Great video dude. I put over 500 hours into Radiata Stories when I was 11 years old. This game is by far my favorite game of all time. It is up to us to cherish the memories of this forgotten masterpiece. Tri Ace won't make a sequel because it didn't sell well when it was released, so we need to make our own spiritual successor, our own Radiata Stories 2.
This was really great. Even a short video like this takes hours and hours of work to put together, and I thought your hard work paid off. I hope to see more of these kind of videos in the future!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR SOMEONE WHO FELT THE SAME WAY ABOUT THIS GAME AS I DO! I love this game and growing up with this in the collection of games I possessed was quite a heartwarming time! I miss this game, and thought I could only play it for PS2... I got the tune stuck in my head and kept doing the little speed walk shuffle Jack does. Stumbling onto this video has really made me smile like a bear in a honey factory. My name is Eli as well, I would love to see the revival of this on PS5, I'd do anything for it!! Thank you greatly for making this video and putting in the effort for this childhood memory, your dedication is recognized!
This is one of those games that I loved so much when I was younger. However absolutely no one had ever heard of it, let alone played the game. I’m glad to see I’m not alone in my love of this game. Tri-Ace was a star of my younger gaming years for sure between this and Valkyrie profile.
I’ve been feeling so nostalgic for this game lately. I was between 5th and 6th grade when Radiata Stories came out and it has had a special place in my heart ever since. I definitely rushed to sign that petition and shared it with a few of my friends. Fingers crossed we see a remaster someday soon!!
This game is a great example of a masterpiece, because it still hold up to this day! the graphics and gameplay are still very good! and to think that every NPC had their own routine it's AMAZING. Modern games doesn't even manage to do that right as Radiata Stories did... Square Enix should at least respect her own legacy and enable this game to modern consoles! but they don't even care... so frustrating...
This game is amazing. The art style still looks great. So many memories of this game. One of a kind experience, I don’t know any other game that really has such a charming world and cast.
For Radiata 2 I suggest retain the same concept and graphics but add a guild. Your skills should depend on the guild you joined. Knight guild = tank build / melee attacks Mage guild = magic spells / long range attack Healer guild = full support Assasin guild = speed crit attack You get the point
Some of Radiata tracks is still on my playlist for all these years. Honestly, I think Radiata deserve further contents & developments, All those mysteries, characters and their backgrounds, legendary weapons (the game barely touch on Arbitrator and Falvern, they were originally suppose to play big part on the story), Leona seems supposed to be a main character in human route (the manga increase her role), and many other things I wished could be developed further. It's a big mystery to me, how this masterpiece skips the radar of many players back then.
I loved Radiata Stories. Still have my copy and thin PS2 nearly 20 years later and have played it with my kids and man the good times just keep rolling. Great video, sir!
Lol, after years of grey mind fog, today, I remembered the name of this game... and found this video! So happy someone if highlighting this one. Seriously, I played this in 20's and something by accident in my huge ps2 games. I ended up loving it, kinda remembering it forever (in spite it's name) fondly, and I had only ONE single friend who knows it. This game was great, but I never know quite why, and your awesome review finally revealed my over than 15yo mystery. Thank you, my mind is more peaceful now.
You have no idea how much joy it brings me to see others that know this game exist one day I wish me or other fans stream this game and show it's unique story and people parsec is my favorite person/dragon giving you money to find the guild leader only to find out the money you get was fake 😂
You really get to appreciate the art of ps2 games when you play them upscaled. Dark cloud 2 looks so good, I get stuck looking at stuff and how crisp everything looks.
I played this when i was young and i can honestly say there isnt a game ive ever played today that comes close to Radiata Stories. Best story, best soundtrack, best weapons/items, charming characters, and not only do the npcs have their own timed schedules throughout the day, but you must make sure you be-friend them as you progress through the story. I find myself coming back to this game time and time again. I hope one day they remaster this game.
Best way to describe this game is just how unique and beautiful it is compared to many other RPGs. I remember when I found that you could recruit guild leaders and was shocked, so had to try to get them all (pretty tough without a guide). It might be nostalgia up to some extent that made me so in love with it, but whenever I try to replay it; I still to this day have fun and get immersed into it's deep and beautiful world. You just can't have the same experience on any other game (coming from an RPG freak). It was the love of my life when I was just a middle schooler and I could say to this day. One of the best experiences I've had, and certainly so glad that there are others who are paying tribute to this game, so thanks to you my guy and all the others who experienced it
OMG I love Radiata Stories, the characters, the music, the battle system, I have replayed this game over 4 times 😂 and nvr get bored. I love how all NPC have daily activities and not just respawn randomly in the town or even stay in the same spot 24/7. I love how Jack is kicking stuff to get some items 😂
This is still my favorite rpg game to this day. I remember making multiple saves and doing all story routes. Has some of the greatest and most emotional moments. The fairy/magic folk route is my favorite.
I’ve been searching for this game forever! I had it when it first got released but it got lost in moving over the years and no one I asked about or described it to had any idea I was talking about.
I first played Radiata Stories back in 2005, right before I went to college, and while I enjoyed it then, I didn't get a complete experience of the game until I played it through recently. I beat both human and non-human paths, recruited all characters, and beat the bonus dungeons on both paths. I still like going back to play to beat the bonus dungeons with different combinations of characters. It's just so fun. You can really get lost in the world because of all the characters and their distinct personalities. Would recommend for any gamer, especially RPG gamers.
Radiata is precious in a way nothing else ever could be. Wildly, I’ve never seen any post game content after all these years. Saving that 100% playthrough for just the right time
this game brings back so much memories. I remember spending hours looking at the Guide Book back then to try and recruit everyone and some were very hard even with the guide book.
Radiata Stories was definitely an unappreciated gem, but Square Enix had tri-Ace develop it simply to test how well the PS2 could handle numerous functions and routines, such as the multiple characters' daily schedules. While the game was nothing more than an experiment on their part, it was still quite enjoyable, especially with all the teams you could put together among the many allies to recruit. Sadly, it left behind a lot of unresolved narrative threads and it's unlikely we'll ever see them addressed. Jack and Ridley did make appearances in both Star Ocean Anamnesis (as recruitable allies, but only in the Japanese version) as well as collectable figurines in Star Ocean: The Divine Force. Seems like Square Enix only marginally remembers Radiata Stories existed once. Some of Team Radiata's members still work today as part of their own created company, Aiming, and they released an MMO called Caravan Stories some years back. It definitely has Radiata Stories's DNA all over it, with its numerous races, lots of characters to recruit, legendary dragons, and the overall feel to the world of Iyarr. Unfortunately, the game is plagued with numerous issues that still persist to this day, but for what it's worth, it's the closest thing we have to a spiritual successor for Radiata Stories.
ah you sparked an old memory there. Definitely one of the best JRPG of its time, Triace always had a magical touch whenever they made a game. Now I want to download an emulator and relive the moments i once did when I first player this game along with games like Suikoden 3 and Valkyrie profile . Such good times
Yes! This game flew under the mainstream radar but it was SO much fun. I would love to get another crack at it because i stuck to mostly the main storyline my first go through. It is a gem though and through!
I saw mention of this game in an unrelated thread, and what I discovered of it immediately piqued my interest. I don't usually enjoy games with as lighthearted a tone and as slow a start as this one, but the kicking mechanic, the NPC routines and the characters kept me invested through the intro section. And now that the game's opened up? I'm having a ball just running around finding characters to nab. I'd like to thank you for this video. It was after watching this concise, yet thorough review that I went from "mildly intrigued" to "actively looking to give the game a whirl." And I certainly have no regrets so far!
played this game at least 12 times in middle school bro where was this petition 10 years ago T-T i just download and got PCSX2 to work on my laptop and now im revisiting it and its soooo goood bro!!! i remember the old days when me and my cuz first played it. we shared the ps2 and didnt have a memory card so we couldnt save. we'd play the whole weekend, make it as far as we could and leave the ps2 plugged to the tv, switching the tv over to cable. a little while after we reached the split in the game, sometime during that week my mother for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON decided to unplug the PS2. she saw how pissed off i was (as the quiet kid) and i was LASHING TF OUT. so she never unplugged it again. 2nd attempt, same plan. we got to the final battle with Cross, before the silver dragon, then u know, school week. planned on coming back to play the next weekend..... there was a blackout. i didnt even rage this time. i just cried. then my mom blessed me with that beautiful, baby blue memory card. this where my life truely began T-T
Loved this game, it was the best game in my childhood which I actually found and played by accident. I've played hundreds of games since then but Radiata Stories will always have a special place in my heart.
I remember finding this game in my aunt’s dusty attic (for whatever reason) many years ago and spent soooo many hours on it. One of the best games EVER. The characters, dialogue, voice acting, music, comedy.. all great. And I remember being lost in some stupid floating castle place for like 5 hours cuz I didn’t know walkthroughs existed. 😂
its 2024 and for some reason i've been thinking of this game the past few months. i dont know why but i really enjoyed this then. now im realizing i should have appreciated it more. i will definitely play it again on the emulator. but i do want this to be recognized more and digitalized. thank you for the video!!
No unfortunately, I emulated it on my computer and ithe game stopped working. Really hoping for a remaster, would love to finish this!@@syaredzaashrafi1101
This game was one of the highlights of my teens, even though my english skills were not the best at the time. I remember getting excited when Radiant Historia was revealed, thinking it was some kind of sequel. Would love a re-release.
This game is why I still name my characters Jack Russell to this day! Such a hidden gem of a game that no one talks about. Thank you for giving it it's flowers.
Man I cant believe there is someone out there who loves radiata stories as much as I do. It’s the best game I’ve ever played. even my ign always has Ridley in it. if SE decides to remaster this I would probably die from happiness.
I've played it as a child and it stuck with me as absolute gold, along with Rogue Galaxy. But it just have such importance on my personality and principles, I fucking love it
This was one of my favorite games growing up. This game definitely deserves modern relevance, since it deals with a relatable protagonist and deals with serious subject matters.
Radiata stories is a game I always come back to playing just because of how much stuff is in it, and still today I find things I miss even after all those playthroughs.
Picked this game up years ago at a used game store, but never got around to playing it. Now I really need to go find it again! BTW your manner of speaking reminds me so much of one of those Travel Channel documentaries about Disney parks, which is awesome too.
radiata stories is still one of my top 10 game of all time. I love the stories, music and gameplay. I do feel like there is some small problem with the character relationship especially between ridley and jack. The manga that came out later had a better development between them and gave a better understanding on some of the event of the game like the princess kidnapping. I always wanted a sequel of this game and I tough that radiant historia was a sequel god I was disappointed when I find out they had nothing to do with each other.
An old friend let me borrow this game when I was in highschool. I didn't really give a shit about it when it came out but I played it anyway on a whim. It's now one of my favorite RPGs of all time. So familiar yet different in all the best ways.
Went through so many playthroughs of this game when I was a kid to fill out the friends list. Recently decided to go back and play again. Really wish it was more successful.
I still have this game and I have a PS2 just to play this game. I really really loved it. I still have the print out of how to get all my friends. I think someday when I'm old I'll stream this.
Yeah, I love this game. I always tell people that it's a cozy Suikoden, so maybe with that collection coming out next year, games like this will gain more traction. I would love to play this on the Nintendo Switch someday.
My favorite thing about this game was you could pick a fight with ANYONE AT ALL!!! Anyone you can reach, you can kick them till they fight you. Some join you when you beat them, others will give you things. Some people are wickedly strong. Some are weak as crap. This game is chaos. I'm glad I found it again.
I remember working game crazy when this game first came. I bought it with my first paycheck took and and started playing it immediately it was so much I put hours into it. I even played twice to get both endings so much fun. Love this game ❤❤❤.
Omg this was my favorite game back in the day. I loved it to death. My strategy guide was torn to bits from playing again and again and again just maxing everything I could do.
Holy fuck the amount of memories from my childhood when I beat this game years ago was amazing, this game is a hidden gem, It's so unique and special, I always remember it when I talk about great RPGs from back then. I might replay it just to experience it again. Truly a hidden masterpiece
I remember the day i found out that bryce (voice of Jack) voices mainy people in anime. I always knew Natsu and kirito sounded familiar i just didn't know how
This game was amazing, it aged magnificently they nailed the humor which rarely happens and it’s gorgeous. I think this game would do amazing today it’s so charming one of my favorite games ever.
I've played this game when it was released and I still remember it fondly. I just love the characters so much. I would love another Radiata Stories, with updated gameplay (the battles and only controlling jack was kind of annoying to me).
If you were to ask me if to play this game today I'd say yes 100%yes this game is amazing one of my childhood favorites I probably spent over 200 hours into the game or That's what it felt like finding all the armor sets and weapons I'd give this game a solid 10/10
One of my favorite games. Can't believe this game didn't get more traction. The world, controls, music, everything was great. It needs a sequel with the same sense of style.
I didnt liike the combat, the advance system was a bit confusing, however everything else, was indeed great.
Loved it. Human path is great...not so much for fairy
I would take a port right now. But a sequel with the 1st one remastered and bundled would be a dream
I love this game, so underrated
not just underrated, it was massively underrated. A real gem of the generation.

Valkyrie profile is making a comeback, I'm not saying there's hope for Radiata Stories realistically but we can dream.

Great sum up video! Had this one started/in my backlog forever. Gonna load it on my steam deck and give it some love this year :)
radiata stories is still one of my top 10 game of all time.
This game looks really cool, I love the muted color palette and art design.
I remember this game. It took me soooo long to get past the sabertooth mission.
I had so much fun playing this game. I'd love to see a remastered release or a sequel.
Ugh I loved this game and Star Ocean!
What I love more was that every equipment sword etc change how the character looked. Sowrds armor etc
I still have this game and I have a PS2 just to play this game. I really really loved it. I still have the print out of how to get all my friends. I think someday when I'm old I'll stream this.
this game is super awesome really !!! I really enjoyed this game overall and it brings me back good memories!
It still looking beautiful, we need a remaster HD.
That intro with Kingdom Hearts🥺💕
Though this game Radiata Stories reminded me somehow of Tales of the Abyss.
I sometimes just left the game on in the background just for it's atmosphere. The world felt so alive!
Yeah, I love this game. I always tell people that it's a cozy Suikoden, so maybe with that collection coming out next year, games like this will gain more traction. I would love to play this on the Nintendo Switch someday.
I miss games like this. I had a great time with thid years ago and love how you could recruit so many characters.
I miss this game so much!
It's about time they remaster it.
Hopefully this petition helps.
IMHO it was really the best rpg I've played on the ps2, together with FFX.... too bad it got overlooked so much by the gaming community
My favorite thing about this game was you could pick a fight with ANYONE AT ALL!!! Anyone you can reach, you can kick them till they fight you. Some join you when you beat them, others will give you things. Some people are wickedly strong. Some are weak as crap. This game is chaos. I'm glad I found it again.
it needs a rework, i think nowadays would be apreciated
I remember working game crazy when this game first came. I bought it with my first paycheck took and and started playing it immediately it was so much I put hours into it. I even played twice to get both endings so much fun. Love this game ❤❤❤.
Omg this was my favorite game back in the day. I loved it to death. My strategy guide was torn to bits from playing again and again and again just maxing everything I could do.
I really love for SE to remaster or even remake this.
I think this game would do amazing today it’s so charming one of my favorite games ever.
character design and art style is awesome
Just starting a replay. Such a simple game and yet so rich and memorable.
I've played this game when it was released and I still remember it fondly. I just love the characters so much. I would love another Radiata Stories, with updated gameplay (the battles and only controlling jack was kind of annoying to me).
One of the few games I beat multiple times. The post game also was great and the fact they had so much post game content for a ps2 games was amazing
Still waiting for a port to Steam or Playstation. 🤞
If you were to ask me if to play this game today I'd say yes 100%yes this game is amazing one of my childhood favorites I probably spent over 200 hours into the game or That's what it felt like finding all the armor sets and weapons I'd give this game a solid 10/10
Great video for a great game! Played this back in the day I love it. I just started a new playthrough still one of my favorite games of all time. 😊👍
is there any game that same as radiata stories ?
