If you want the greatest spread, use a sire of shards. I like damaging the whole screen, so if I use any, it is LMP with ball lightning. An extra enchant on helm makes it cover the whole screen. BL doesn't shotgun, so just get the least penalty as possible. Since the nerfs to cwc, I don't use LMP. Sire + helm enchant brings 85% screen coverage, which is usually enough for mapping. Bossing has been ruined for cwc.
I have always wanted to play a burning character. I used to mainly play Aura bots and curse bots with friends.. but they all quit the game. What mods effect the burning dot part of fire attacks and not the initial hit? Is it worth boosting both? Is the burning part of fire attacks a percent of the initial hit? I know it is not like Chao skills that do all the damage overtime, so they do not have an initial hit presay
It depends on what skill you're talking about, because burning skills such as Righteous Fire have base damage over time. Whereas an ignite inflicted by an attack such as Explosive Arrow relies on the base damage of that attack, and is then scaled by fire damage, burning damage, damage over time, ignite deals damage faster, damage with ailments and fire damage over time multiplier. Righteous Fire on the other hand is burning damage, but NOT ignite, so ignite deals damage faster would not effect it nor would damage with ailments. In general you don't want to scale both hit and DoT on the same build.
I'm not really convinced that the choice is just a matter of the dmg multiplier for Forbidden Rite, to me greater volley seem to spread out the hits more than greater multiple projectiles do. Not really sure how much effect that has for the shotgunning in actual gameplay though since I played a poison scaling FR build for the past 2 leagues so there was no reason for me not to use GMP since the dmg penalty didn't really matter for me.
Greater Volley has no effect on the projectile spread of ground-targeted skills like Forbidden Rite and Blazing Salvo, the only difference is the number of projectiles, or the damage multiplier. This is especially the case with Forbidden Rite since only 5 projectiles will overlap on a single target from the skill, 2 base + 1 from helm meaning if you are using LMP, GMP, Volley, or GVolley the only difference on a single target is the damage multiplier. You're free to test this yourself with a stationary boss like Shaper, or a player and "The Golden Rule" to reflect poisons to yourself.
@@Tenkiei That isn't really evidence of there being no effect on the spread, only evidence of there "little difference", even if the difference might be little enough that the dmg multiplier is more important. Also the "only 5 projectiles overlap" thing isn't completely true, I get 6 projectiles to overlap a decent amount of times even if not consistently, with no aoe investment. Judging by herald of agony stacks anyway.
@@Nimroc There are multiple videos providing evidence that there is no effect on the spread. There is also video evidence showing how the overlaps work, and that yes there is variance on moving targets but not stationary ones, but that variance on moving targets is almost always detrimental.
Nice vid, thanks. What about Splitting and Shattering steel? I am trying out Splitting steel and confused about which of GMP or GVS, or both, to use. Thanks :)
Uh, I used both GMP and Greater Volley for my scuffed LA deadeye. I liked Volley more, but the build was so bad that the skill gem swap makes no difference.
i just found this video today. i playing caustic arrow build. i using both Greater Multi Proj and Greater Volley together. Based on ur video, they can work with each other right? since my dmg comes from my DOT, the damage penalty also didnt hurt that much for me ( i think) or i have to choose to use either one? Thanks in advance for answering.
What will you recommend for burning arrow?? I'm kinda confused after leaving this game for the last 4 leagues so idk if something changed when it comes to this skill or projectiles in general.
Pretty much always use either LMP or GMP. However, volley and greater volley are more visually appealing to me. Playing lightning arrow right now so probably sticking to GMP. I know it’s probably a very simple concept. But the accuracy stat is weird to me. I get that it effects your hit rate but I don’t understand the point when people do like accuracy stacking builds. In my mind there would be a point of diminishing return.
There is a point of diminishing returns with accuracy stacking, where you're better off investing in other stats like crit multi. Most people just go "all in" on it and end up well past that point. In 3.16 I did a Str/Acc stacking build and I experimented a bit to find the sweet spot between str/acc, and other stats like crit multi.
None of the above. You never use Greater Volley or GMP on self-cast FR because FR can't overlap more than 5 projectiles on a stationary single target, and even with a moving large hitbox target will average 5 regardless ( ua-cam.com/video/zWuew6NcZGo/v-deo.html )
Are people incapable their own decisions in PoE? I see a lot of questions to youtubers/streamers which could've been solved if they just tried the skills
I honestly always use GMP for the simple fact that I prefer how it looks. Volley shooting extra projectiles from thin air looks goofy to me.
I never knew you could actually use both... so i learned something usefull today. Thanks :)
I used volley on Frostbold and then casted Ice Nova with spell echo over it. Gave some nice overlapping for the nova on greater distance.
So I learned for Poisonous concoction VOLLEY IS BETTER because it targets at ground.

The list of Path of Exile mechanics I find confusing is too long to type out. 🤣

Volley on skellie mages with ashes, just becouse of the damage
Can you please make a video to forbidden rite self cast, if gmp or greater volley would be better or just taking both together

Honestly? GMP spread feels way better to play, volley looks and feels kinda weird to me so that my reasoning xD
