Friend, Ajanish Loknath is the music director for this film Kantara. These rituals are the Kola Deiva festival held in the coastal part of Karnataka. There they dance like this. They also believe in God.
This is a tradition in Southern Karnataka (Tulu Nadu and Kodagu Nadu) and Northen Kerala (Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode). This is an ancient form of worship and religion that existed much before the Vedic religion came to us.
No bro it's not just a part of movie, it's a traditional featival in Karnataka, especially in tulu speaking community, and he is our diety, his name is pranjuli dev and guliga dev, and it is said that he comes in the body of one of his worshipper who is very pure and protect the community, at that time the man become so powerful, and he dress like pranjuli dev, this is very sacred ritual, I don't know more about it as i am not the part of that community, but this feels incredible after watching and hearing this music, that they are representing our culture this beautifully, If anyone from Karnataka here who can correct me if I'm wrong❤😊
The song is from the movie but most of the snipets are real celebration that happens in karnataka , INDIA . The people moving wnd dancing in costumes are said to have gods inside of them and hence the ceremony is carried out by the gods that posseses the human body to give blessings .
This is an adaptation of the song named Navarasam by another Indian band called Thaikkudam Bridge. There were legal disputes on the similarity, but I would say it was a clean adaptation and they didnt destroy the song like most remixes do.
