The recent "retirement" of 10:1 and 1:1 probes and what you can do about it.

The 0:0 probe is really the way to go, it's wireless and has an infinite reach, due to the dynamic nature of the X0 probe it can handle infinite voltages as well as provide the lab with a quick and simple 0V reference. These probes also will never need calibrated as they have an infinite precision, combined with a $0 BOM cost they are the perfect alternative to traditional probes!
Hard to argue with that logic
Does it work with a turboelectroencabulator I bet not
@@leyvarecio3699 Of course the X0 probe can integrate with a turbo encabulator, this is obvious due to the phase velocity of the magneto-hydro-dynamos integrated into the reduced reluctance, infinitesimal admittance properties of the X0 probe!
Well I think I didn't put too much attention in my magneto-hydro-dinamo III class such a rookie mistake my apologies
Now i just need to find one...
I could never figure out if the 10x setting was decimal, binary, or hex. So difficult for engineers. Glad they are simplifying this complex setup process for us.
It's trinary. -ish.
Great for hard to reach probing locations, recommended!
At first I thought you were going to solder a really big resistor into it or something. Then it got even better!
It's moebin time.
Also here's the announcement: tm-alliance.org/blog/2023-03-31/
Sales of 1:1 probes is set to skyrocket! Happy 01/04.
To the moon!
Kudos for joining in on Dave's prank!
Amazing idea, these life hacks just keep getting better.
Be careful with that Moebius probe, if you use it to measure signals with high frequency content and accidentally hit the resonant length or a multiple of 1/4 wavelength the standing waves could cause it to self oscillate and create a wormhole which an MSO might fall into and end up on my bench*
* Gotta try...
I tried it myself and it worked great! I also tried to put me in series to the probe to also get a high impedence and it worked out aswell. Good for >5GHz
if they had actually banned the x1/x10 probe, this would make a compelling video response for them to reconsider their announcement on the socials xD
Fantastic ideas both of them! I think I'll throw my 1:10 probes away and just order several 1:1 probes to be in compliance!
The Mobius probe: Great way to check your scopes noise floor!
I love the probe to BNC adapter.
I just use hook up wire and Blu Tack with my 1 GHz DSO. Probes it came with didn't seem to want to plug in. Someone once said something about twisting a barrel but I never got around to having a look.
Man, those awkward 10:1 probes with their complicated 2-position switches! Who on earth still uses those? Thank the geniuses at TMA for finally stepping up and banning those dangerous probes! I feel safer already! I can't wait to see what they'll come up with next.
No worry, we always have the Keysign official original replicated version from Chaina
That’s quality content that I expect from Keysight 👍 I guess we also will get the new MegaZoom 6 shipped soon?
Great idea! Same big thing as an scopenner! We are look forward this stuff 👍
I actually wish the end of switchable probes wasn't an April fool joke. It's not just a matter of buying separate 1:1 and 1:10 probes because good 1:10 probes at reasonable price just don't seem to exist. I ended up making my own instead.
I was obvious by the title but I'm glad you are having fun on 1st of April :)
throw in a bnc Y-connector in the möbius probe and you got yourself a Klein probe. now you can measure signal in 4th dimension. 👍
Hope the exit of the 1x/10x is the April Fools joke.
I did this to my flux capacitor, and instead of going back to Nov 5, 1955, I went back to Nov 4, 1944, in the middle of Europe, so thanks for that...
Happy April 1st guys
1:33 LMAO, That wasn't supposed to come out!
You know....I forgot what day it is....
Instructions unclear, observed 190° phase shift
Is it true that your scope runs entirely on recycled electrons?
We actually make all of them fresh from scratch
No way.. This must be an April 1st joke! 😁
I love this. Perfect solution
Technically that's not a Mobius probe - that is an Ouroboros probe;)
And a differential Ouroboros probe would be an Auryn probe!
Hahahahaha that's awesome Dan. It tops your noise on a psu impression
Oh it's April... I had to look at the calendar ;D
You got me going there for a sec.
Happy April Fools' Day to you too!
Ingenious! 😉
I like the one of TMA's claims that having separate 1x & 10x probes will reduce climate impact over having a single switchable 1x/10x probe. Follow the science. It's settled.
"Environmental Impact Reduction: By eliminating the need for additional switch components, the production of fixed x1 and x10 probes can contribute to a reduction in electronic waste, aligning with global sustainability goals and promoting responsible manufacturing practices."
Happy first day of April :)
The first day of April ;-) Probing...
Just send me your all contraband scope probes! problem solved. If they're already packaged with oscilloscopes, no problem, I'll still take them :-P
probius strip?
Can I exchange my old 10:1 probe for the new system?
I will pay shipping.
Yo! I need 10 of the Probius!
Wait, what the... {looks a the calendar}... ARG!!!
1000 degree phase lag here we come
Bob Finger.. just lol 🤣🤣
an amazing april fool 😂🎉
This being released on this date tells you all you need to know.
Oh the guys in white shirts and ties from the glory days of HP are turning over in their graves! But it's so much more fun today! LOL!
Why seeling one probe 1/10 at a decent price when they can sell twice as much .
Fantastic 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
May be an April's fools joke, but I'm afraid, it's not...
But wait, that idea is flawed....
Funny thing that
HAPPY APRIL 1ST HEHEHEH
You can't sell 10x probes when they are built in to the free one that comes with it.. brilliant. I hate it
He slipped and said, “we can sell twice as…” I mean… All th craporations are turning into Apple.
Yeah phew that was a close one
LOL @ 1:35 the truth comes out!
2-1/2 minutes of my life I will never get back ;-)
2-1/2 minutes of life well spent!
Who wouldn't want 10x probes instead of 1?
Right!?
That's the silliest thing I've seen in awhile. If people are confused by a 1:1 vs 10:1 switch... this isn't making them less confused. So whoever "we" is in this video, "they" should be really mad at "you" right now.
Whereas, the company that made my oscilloscope isn't "banning" anything, they sell all the normal tools that there is demand for.
Honestly, if you're confused by a 10:1 probe... do you even need an o-scope? Maybe just use a logging multimeter?
I think you're missing one key point here...
Yeah that's a lot better . Great .
Cuz ya know a switch with two positions is sooooo difficult kids today are offended.
Like banning gasoline cars...
Now.. do a Klein probe. G'wan.. I dare ya.
Good joke 🎉 1:1 probes wont multiply , they are just like the straight wire
Ha ha, April Fool’s Day 😆
Ahhhhhhhh you. !
April 1st yourself.
Seems like an April fools joke. Saw eevBlog's video on this probe change.
You might have done a fake giveaway
I'm not a monster
lol
how about making a adapter that would convert a 1x to a 10x probe. All you need to do is move the circuit for the 10x option into the adapter part and you now got 10x probe, remove the adapter and it a 1x probe.
Ooh, you could build it right into the probe and put a switch on it to go back and forth
The truly scary thing is that the 10:1 ratio is ACTUALLY confusing and WAY TOO FUCKEN HARD for too many people in positions of influence.
