At some point you should check out Kendricks verse on a song called Control. It was the starting point of the Kendrick Drake beef (because drake is a weirdo) and kinda shocked life into rap. It was absolutely crazy how a mostly underground artist went as hard as he did.
UA-cam just recommended me your video on Kendrick's Euphoria and I have been on a Kendrick binge on your channel since. I really like your insight and breakdown of his music.
Here’s a few things to keep in mind. The reason we Kendrick fans love seeing people discover his music is because he makes you feel things you haven’t before when listening to rap. Songs like “U”, “Mother I Sober” and “The Heart Part V” has brought people to tears. His song “Alright” was the theme song for the black movement that happened during the George Floyd fiasco. He doesn’t compromise his sound or morals for money and power. Literally ALL of his projects are well thought out and deserve full through listens in one sitting to get the entire grasp. His album Good Kid Maad city( the longest charting rap album on billboard 200) is a full story about his upbringing in Compton, while TPAB was about warning black artists about the music industry and how it can corrupt one’s soul with the guise of making them rich. (In element he says “last LP I tried to lift black artist but it’s a difference between black artist and wack artist. That LP was to pimp a butterfly (TPAB). all of his Projects have a consistency that is very appreciated and he’s arguably the greatest rapper of all time. That’s why we support him so much and the messages he spreads. He has the ability to change one’s life.
I see what you mean. Its wild finding such talent thats been around for a while now and I just had no clue was out there. I have really been enjoying his music!

I actually didn't know much about Kendrick's music either, heard of the name but thought it wouldn't really interested me. Similar to you, I lean more toward the metal genre. I heard of the diss tracks and that's when I decided to check more out. Turns out I actually knew some songs??? NOT SURE WHERE but I was so excited when I heard Element because I was like "WAIT I KNOW THIS SONG THIS SONG I REMEMBER LIKING WHEN I HEARD IT" LOL. Hope you keep getting blowing away like I am XD
Love the vid. I don't know if any one told you but an Easter egg about the DNA video is Don Chedle being in it also ties into a character he played in Rush Hour named Kenny who knew kung fu
Hello! Loved these videos so far. DAMN was a good first Kendrick album to listen to because it’s more of his hits and mainstream pop songs. But next time you listen to Kendrick album like to pimp a butterfly or good kid maad city you should listen to it in its entirety. The tracks in the albums tell a story and flow so nicely together and it’s hard to truly enjoy it without doing it back to back
This album came out the night I was having a bad trip on acid. It was Good Friday and I decided to take 3 hits of really strong acid and made the mistake of going on my phone and seeing that North Korea was supposedly going to test a nuke on Easter Sunday (which they did on April 16, 2017) I started freaking out that the world was going to end, so I was like I’ll just read the book of revelation to show myself that I’m just tripping. So I read the book and started seeing these crazy apocalyptic visions of a nuclear war in my mirror. I was deep in the bad trip and I got a notification on my phone that Kendrick released a new album. So I was like this will get me out of this bad vibe. I listened to the album and all the biblical references just reinforced what I was thinking and tripled down on the apocalypse vibes. It was a crazy and dark night but the experience lead me to an understanding of the 144,000 redeemed ones and the 12 tribes of Israel and the idea that the true tribes of Israel aren’t who we believe them to be. I’m half Comanche so the message was really hitting but in a different way and just having read revelation really tied it all together. To this day I believe this whole series of coincidences was truly a vision sent from God because the synchronization of it all was so insane. Praise the Lord 🙏🏽
I had never read Revelation before this day and had no knowledge of the lost tribes of Israel and both the book and the album reference them heavily and in FEAR. he talks about the Blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans being the true lost children of Israel
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate you sharing that story with me and how KDot impacted you like that. He is truly an amazing artist and it has been fun experiencing his music!
Just want to clarify, when Kendrick talks about being a black Israelite, he’s speaking from the perspective of his cousin Karl. Kendrick isn’t saying that he’s a black Israelite but his cousin is. You can hear his cousin talking about it from a real voicemail he left Kendrick later in the album on “Fear”. Love the videos and seeing a Kendrick fan being made right before us, keep it coming!
I don't know if anyone has told you, but you should also check out his "The Heart" series. It's parts 1-5. 5 songs, but all were done at various points in his career.
its (lightly) veiled at the time, but ELEMENT. was the first "direct" diss track we got from Kendrick imo. its all but a diss track except he doesnt drop any names. hes saying, rap is so much more to him than other rappers who are just there to front and make money. Kendrick lives and breathes hip hop its so important to him and he knows his music is so important to others. if you ever get back to the Drake beef, ELEMENT. is a very important one to remember
Thanks for the comment and insight! His music is so deep its insane. Ive seen so many comments showing me references and meanings I didnt understand, and its just mind blowing to see all the layers.
Again love your reaction! The breakdown you should watch after the album is by TennisThom. As for the TOOL fans for rock/metal and DOT fans for rap - thats totally true. This kind of rap is THOUGHT driven before replay ability driven even though they are super replayable. I have been listening to DAMN since it came out so its cool to watch someone discover it for the first time after so long. I am looking forward to your reaction to XXX, I listen to it at least once a day, it will never get old for me. Also love your Demon Slayer poster, one of my favorite current running animes. Attack on Titan and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood are my absolute favorites tho!
Thanks for the comment! Yea, I have really been enjoying KDots music. Its so deep and sounds so good! I cant wait to get out more reactions to more of his music. I also love AOT and FMAB, those are in my top 5 anime. My favorite is Bleach.
Hit a minor note or something. We’ll get back to that for the record. But loving these videos man, I appreciate how you’re open about your approach to entering his music. All of his albums are thematic throughout and for DAMN in particular, going 2 songs at a time gives you a mire complete experience especially moving towards the latter half of it.
firstone it's a groovy jam loves it. i also love ice cream second song imo is a banger and I especially love kendrick's flow and his rythmic word delivery. both songs have a sort of futuristic production, future-funk element with samples and grooves. i love it so much, the whole album is like this i also like fish 🐟 i would personally react to the music first, and lyrics later, because kendrick is criptic and something you can come back to. loved the reaction though! i like your headphones. i like the double reaction 🤷♂️ but focus on lyrics later maybe 🤔 just be mindful that there's a whole story behind it, and reocureing themes, continuity, etc... it's a mess the lyrics for me are good but something you apreciatte more with time, the music for me is the highlight
you should listen to Rigormortis by Kdot, now i will say its heavy on the lyrics side but if you want something off the wall its one of his older songs.
When you react to Element you should react to drake's Energy video Element was the first big Drake dss record. They sampled Drake's energy and contrased Kendrick's Real life experience with Drakes theatrical crap lol
When Drake was the boss of hip hop it was really shitty for rappers who made artistic music. It was hard for me to watch smart people dumb down for trends so I know it pissed Kendrick off😂
This album is good but its sound is suppose to be a lot more “trendier”. The lyrics on this album are kind of simplified in my opinion compared to his past projects. Also Mr.Morale is worth a listen regardless of what people say about it.
Mushroomhead came out with 2 new songs. One is called “Fall in Line” and the other is called “Prepackaged”. Then the band As I Lay Dying has also 2 new songs. The first one is “Burden” and the other one is “The Cave We Fear to Enter.” Plus check out some of these songs out by Imminence. Some songs like “Continuum”, “Chasing Shadows”, “Alleviate”, “Heaven Shall Burn”, “The Sickness”, “Paralyzed”, “Heaven in Hiding”, and “Ghost”. These bands are amazing. By chance, you have done any of these videos or bands before then I apologize. Thanks ❤️🤘🏼❤️
Thanks for the comment and suggestions! I did a reaction to Burden, but I have not heard the other one. Also I have not listened to Mushroomhead in years. Ill have to check them out again.
Your reactions have been amazing, It would be so awesome to see your reaction to something from death grips. Death grips is very very different from Kendrick and is more on the experimental and loud side of rap. Some of there music is close to metal with the excessive use of electric guitar and drums. The bassist from tool actually worked on an album with them haha
I find it funny that the first track you came across was a Drake diss. As you go through his discography you will hear several shots since Drake's way. Element is good a example of what I mentioned. Drake who had been dissing Kendrick for years in return thought he could go to Compton and play cosplay gangsta in a music video with Game another Compton rapper on a song he dissed him on. As you more than likely guessed many of these songs have layers. Another funny thing is that you're starting with what many would call his worst album considering it is his most mainstream. It gets better in either direction.
Thanks for the comment! Yea I saw this album and TPAB come up the most are requests in the comments, so I just picked this one. I think I might react to all the diss tracks after I finish DAMN and then do TPAB. Let me know what you think!
@@dethrowegamer1715 That's a difficult choice to make. You could react to the disses and maybe get more views but the disses lose some narrative weight or you could through the albums while gaining new subs and knowledge to more greatly appreciate the diss tracks with your newly built audience. Go with what feels natural. Other than that I have two track suggestions that feature Kendrick Lamar. Travis Scott - Goosebumps Lil Wayne - Mona Lisa Both are wildly different from each other but those tracks will make you see him differently even more so.
10:47 I'd say it's better to pick up lines throught the song that you were interested it and either when you pause to add a comment you see the lyrics during that part or just save it for after the song ended. It would feel a bit more smoothed out as a video I'd say.
also if you're a Tool fan man have you ever checked out The Contortionist? The Contortionist might be my like actual favorite band, if you're a Tool fan man you should SERIOUSLY listen to their albums Language and Clairvoyant. They have two other albums, Exoplanet and Intrinsic which are also really, really good, but they used to be a lot more like "progressive deathcore" side of djent and idk how far into the like abrasive vocals and shit some people are into. Sorry lmao only band I have to simp for in the comments like this.
Thanks for the comment and recommendation! Yea Ive listened to a bit of The Contortionist here and there. They usually come on when I am doing Periphery radio on YT music. I dont know the names of all the songs Ive herd, but I def like the ones I did.
Yah is another name for god in the Hebrew, YHWH, or Yahweh or Yahuah there’s a bit of a debate on the spelling, I’ma a Israelite don’t call me black no more, the deuteronomy there’s a lot of Christian/hebrew themes in the whole album, but it’s not too forceful that it turns people of but if you are into it, you get a kick out of it, even in DNA you did previously he calls himself Yeshua’s new weapon, Yeshua is supposed to be the Hebrew name of Jesus
DAMN being your first dive is like only seeing the butterfly and not the caterpillar.

Watched thru your previous Kendrick videos yesterday & love how there's a new one popping up in my recommended today (from a new subscriber much love)
Thanks for the comment and the sub!
The tracks in the albums tell a story and flow so nicely together and it’s hard to truly enjoy it without doing it back to back
LUST is my fav . To be honest I think This whole album is phenomenal .
Honestly, id love to see you explore other rappers other than kendrick and eminem as the channel goes on. Would be a fun watch.
Kendrick lives and breathes hip hop its so important to him and he knows his music is so important to others. if you ever get back to the Drake beef, ELEMENT. is a very important one to remember
i love being able to go back now and read lyrics and be like "CONFIRMED"
Thanks for the comment and insight! His music is so deep its insane. Ive seen so many comments showing me references and meanings I didnt understand, and its just mind blowing to see all the layers.
After DAMN you need to check out his other albums, To Pimp A Butterfly & Good Kid Maad City are certified classics
Again love your reaction! The breakdown you should watch after the album is by TennisThom. As for the TOOL fans for rock/metal and DOT fans for rap - thats totally true. This kind of rap is THOUGHT driven before replay ability driven even though they are super replayable. Cant wait to see your duckworth reaction! ua-cam.com/video/v-ek1OxZ2tE/v-deo.htmlsi=if0JgSv54CRPckQc
My favorite is Bleach.
mannnnnn, I cant wait for Feel
Hit a minor note or something. We’ll get back to that for the record. But loving these videos man, I appreciate how you’re open about your approach to entering his music. All of his albums are thematic throughout and for DAMN in particular, going 2 songs at a time gives you a mire complete experience especially moving towards the latter half of it.
firstone it's a groovy jam loves it. i also love ice cream
second song imo is a banger and I especially love kendrick's flow and his rythmic word delivery.
both songs have a sort of futuristic production, future-funk element with samples and grooves. i love it so much, the whole album is like this
i also like fish 🐟
i would personally react to the music first, and lyrics later, because kendrick is criptic and something you can come back to.
loved the reaction though! i like your headphones.
i like the double reaction 🤷♂️ but focus on lyrics later maybe 🤔
just be mindful that there's a whole story behind it, and reocureing themes, continuity, etc...
it's a mess
the lyrics for me are good but something you apreciatte more with time, the music for me is the highlight
Hell yeah! 👍🏽
you should listen to Rigormortis by Kdot, now i will say its heavy on the lyrics side but if you want something off the wall its one of his older songs.
When you react to Element you should react to drake's Energy video
Element was the first big Drake dss record.
The first one is “Burden” and the other one is “The Cave We Fear to Enter.”
Plus check out some of these songs out by Imminence.
@@dethrowegamer1715 if you don’t mind love to hear what u think
I discovered “Element OG (roll call)” which is better than the version on the album. I wish I could purchase that version.
Thanks for the comment and suggestion! Ill add them to the list!
I always say I swear to the spaghetti monster in the sky !!
You can stop the song and read the lyrics, just wait until the verse ends when the chorus comes back, then go back and read the verse
Thanks for the comment and feedback! I appreciate you.
FUEL - EMINEM FT JID
👌👌
I would call it a drop beat. See: dangelos voodoo
“Yah” in the song is in reference to Yahweh, or God.
So, what part of southern KY / east TN are you from? 😆
Ga lol. Close tho. 😂
Travis Scott - Goosebumps
Lil Wayne - Mona Lisa
Both are wildly different from each other but those tracks will make you see him differently even more so.
10:47 I'd say it's better to pick up lines throught the song that you were interested it and either when you pause to add a comment you see the lyrics during that part or just save it for after the song ended. It would feel a bit more smoothed out as a video I'd say.
Thanks for the comment and suggestion!
@@dethrowegamer1715 Your videos are genuenly really entertaining btw. I can't wait to see where your channel will go in the future after all of this.
Yahweh Pronounced Yah-Way
also if you're a Tool fan man have you ever checked out The Contortionist?
Thanks for the comment and info!
I could listen to you mispronounce the names of G-d all day.
What, what did I mispronounce? I be messing up some words sometimes. 😂
@@dethrowegamer1715 yahwah. It's Yahweh, sounds like yah way
PRIDE might be my favorite song on the album plssss after DAMN do goodkid.maad city plssss
You gotta do not like us
