- In this The Bee Supply video, Blake Shook will show you how to safely and easily transfer your nuc of honey bees into your hive box. Though the process is relatively simple, there are a few very important things to keep in mind for the success of your hive. With Blake's help you can master this process with confidence!
GREAT video. I have 2 things I wish you had included in this video:
1) It wasn't said in the video, but you want to transport the Nuc INSIDE your car, where the AC can get to it. Do NOT put them in the trunk of your car. Along with that, having a "hive net" to put your Nuc box inside of will keep bees from flying around inside the car with you on your drive home.
2) Please put a link to the other video you mentioned about feeders in the description of this video.
Excellent, answered my questions. Thank you
I am so glad I found this channel. I want to learn about bees.
New beekeeper here... great video! Getting my nuc today, I've looked at so many of these, yours is the best so far! Thank YOU!! :)
Outstanding. Like the nice new Texas Bee Supply jacket. Well done.
I pick up my bee from yall on Saturday. I am so excited.
Excellent video. You are a very good instructor. Thank you very much!
I have really been learning a bunch from the videos. Keep up the good work.
We got to get you guys a wind block for your mic
Great video, very informative.
Great video..perfect!!!
Entrance reducer is a must!! If your bees get robbed out u will buy more to replace!?
9:06 crunch crunch... i felt bad for those poor guys getting smashed. Isnt that what the bee sweepers are for, to coax them into the hive ?
What type of feeder can you use with a layens hive?
When you pick up the nucs from the bee seller, do they close off the entrances for you typically>? Does everyone do this the same? What would you check when picking them up for a seller to make sure you don't have an accident on the way home, and before you leave the seller's location?
I haven't really seen anywhere stating that all sellers will do it the same way.
And is it a problem for a new transferred hive to have everything foundationless? (Is this a disadvantage from starting up after travel etc?)
They got to be closed before you go and pick it up.
Yes, they are typically closed. BUT the openings are sometimes loose and will come open. Having a "hive net" to enclose your Nuc box while transporting is a good idea.
Is it necessarily leave the nuc for 24 hours before transfer to the hive same location?
How long should I feed them?
I forgot to remove my entrance reducer after transferring nuc, left with big entrance open. Problem ?
You didn't reply to any comments 😒🤔🤔
sound is awry I guess
Great video but you need to buy a much better microphone. The wind ruins all your good work. Thanks for the information.
